Title: standalone DC password encryption

I'm running Zentyal 5.0.10 and need to find out some info regarding this setup. How can I know if users' passwords are being encrypted. If they are, what is the mechanism used? If not encrypted, how can I encrypt (or hash) them and, again, what is/are the mechanism(s) used?
