Installation and Upgrades / OpenChange Sporadic
« on: March 20, 2014, 02:17:54 am »
I installed Zentyal 3.4 yesterday.  Everything seemed to go ok.  I was able to add my workstations to the domain.  I was also able to connect outlook to openchange.  I let it run for 24 hours and found no errors.  So today I put it into production. (This is in my home.)  I added my wife's computer to the domain without an issue and got her outlook attached to openchange.  Now we are having issues with openchange.  It doesn't want to stay connected.  Sometimes it doesn't even connect at all.  Other times it connects for 5 - 15 minutes and then outlook claims it cannot connect.  I check the openchange web and it is working fine.  I can see all mail in there and I get no issues.  I started looking in Zentyal.log, samba.log, syslog and any other file I can find under /var/log.  I cannot find any obvious errors.  About 5 minutes ago I got a message on the web administrator saying that samba had a crash file in the /var/crash folder.  It asked if it could send it out?  I told it yes.  When I went and looked in that folder, the only thing there was a hidden file named ".lock".

My wife and I are using Windows 8 with Office 2013.  Both computers were installed from scratch last week.  The zentyal server has quite a few modules installed. (see attached pic)  The zentyal server is on a Dell PowerEdge 2950 with 16Gb of RAM.  So I don't think memory is an issue.  The system drive is a RAID 1, 63 Gb, 10K drive with each partition having 75% or more of free space, so I don't think hard drive space is the issue.  I just installed and turned on monitoring to try and find what is wrong.

Anyone got any idea where I can look to narrow this down the cause of this?

Installation and Upgrades / Move OpenChange to larger disk drive

Has anyone figured out how to do this yet?  If so, can you point me to where I can find the documentation about it?

I have installed Zentyal 3.3 several times.  I noticed that regardless of what my server name is, my "Root DN" is always "cn=zentyal,dc=mydomain,dc=com".  Is that correct?  I would expect it to be "cn=host,dc=mydomain,dc=com".

Thanks

Installation and Upgrades / Help with Samba Error Message

I just finished installing Zentyal at home this weekend.  I am reviewing the logs for issues and I noticed a lot of "Missing argument: objectGUID" in the log.

Installation and Upgrades / Installation Order
« on: March 07, 2014, 09:35:51 pm »
I have been planning on setting up some web services from my home for a while.  I figured I would have to buy several servers.  When I saw Zentyal, I was very excited to see if I can get all that functionality on one server.  I am trying to setup Zentyal with the following modules:

  • Antivirus
  • Certification Authority
  • DHCP Service
  • DNS Service
  • FTP
  • File Sharing and Domain Services
  • Firewall
  • Intrusion Detection System
  • Jabber
  • Mail Filter
  • Mail Service
  • NTP Service
  • Network Configuration
  • OpenChange
  • Printer Sharing Service
  • Users and Groups
  • Web Mail Service
  • Web Service

I originally tried to install things one at a time to make sure they were configured and working.  That went fine until I got to the Domain and for some reason that didn't create some key components.

So I have tried installing Antivirus, Certification Authority, DHCP, DNS, File Sharing and Domain Services and Network Configuration in the initial install.  That seemed to work.  I was able to add 2 computers to the domain.  There were DomainAdmins group.  I was able to create users, etc.  Problem was I then tried to install Mail Service, Mail Filter, WebMail and OpenChange.  That didn't work.  I tried working out the issues by reading the log files.  I did get Autodiscovery working, but it would never find the configuration info.  I was able to get Outlook to connect in Pop3 or IMAP, but not in Exchange mode.  I was able to send and receive e-mail in and out of the domain.

I then tried installing all those modules at once in the initial installation.  That did not work.  The Domain and samba stuff worked but I could not get Outlook to recognize the mail server at all.

I read somewhere, during the last week of researching issues, that you are supposed to install Zentyal modules in groups.  If that is true can someone tell me the group order and which module is in which group?

Thanks.

P.S.  I am using the most recent Zentyal 3.3 ISO on a Dell PowerEdge 2950 with 32Gb of RAM and a 63GB system drive in RAID 1.

Installation and Upgrades / OpenChange Not Working
« on: March 02, 2014, 03:34:43 am »
I am new to Zentyal.  I am having issues with e-mail setup.  I just got the IMAP and POP3 working.  It was looking at port 389 LDAP instead of 390.  Now I am trying to get OpenChange working.  I can find no errors, but when I startup Outlook on a computer within the domain, Outlook cannot find the user's settings.  It just sits there saying "Searching for bla@bla.net settings.  I am able to get Outlook working with POP3 or IMAP, but I would like to set things up correctly.

I have used grep to search for OpenChange in the /var/log.  I got some information, but nothing showing as an error.

I thought of uninstalling OpenChange and re-installing it, but I don't know how problematic that would be.  Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks.
