there is no service on port 587 in zentyal.
I can telnet to both 25 and 465.

If the outgoing server in Evolution is the TAP address, everything works fine. If it is the external address, nothing.

2
I have set up the mail for my domain. Everything works fine except sending e-mails from external interfaces.
SMTP is configured with TLS and auth. Connecting to internal/tap interface sends the e-mail. Connecting to external interface fails. Port 465 is open (nmap) and accepting connections.

What do I have to do to be able to send mail through external interface?

Thanks

Matija

Installation and Upgrades / Samba over VPN bug

in smb.conf, interfaces were defined as:

lo, eth0, tap-1

there is only tap0, manually changed it to tap0 and everything works ok.

Hope this helps

It works ...
I have two "unusual" lines in my firewall, first under internal networks: accept/any/any/any
the second under external to internal (this may seem strange) accept/vpn/any/any
where vpn object is the vpn range. These rules are from an older version, they may not be needed now.

6
After several weeks I finally found the time to repeat the process with the updated version.
Smooth. Users did not notice anything.

Gateway must be set manually!

Generally speaking, I gave up using anything except "static" for NICs (ok, i use trunk, but then again static for vlans) on EBOX. This way it works great. Make dsl router dial, and give ebox a fixed address and then put it in the DMZ on dls router.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Samba PDC problems after migration

Just a small update until this issue is resolved.
Javi was very helpful on IRC, we tried migration step by step and the outcome was the same.
I have to solve this and once I do, I will post a report.

if you have ethernet connection (and not PPPoE or something)
eth0 - dhcp, check external
eth1 - static 192.168.1.1/24
eth2 - static 192.168.2.1/24

gateway - now, usually there is only one gateway for your provider, so whatever you get over dhcp, put it here
dns (network)- same thing

then in firewall in internal set (this is for internal to internal and to internet) any, any, any

I had this many times until i figured that the problem was with the workstation names.
The worksations are not removed correctly, when you remove them from a domain and you can not insert another worksation with the same name.

sudo smbldap-userlist
sudo smbldap-userdel workstationX$ #(note $ at the end)

removes old entries and then it works normaly.

No.
I have a feeling that the workstation is in "another" domain with the same name.
Can this be sids issue?

Installation and Upgrades / Samba PDC problems after migration
« on: April 05, 2009, 11:56:37 am »
I migrated eBOX. First I ulpoaded the configuration backup, then /var/vmail, /home/samba/users, /home/samba/groups.
home/samba/profiles are part of configuration backup (strange behaviour since roaming profiles change all the time). This process was not smooth.

Anyway, now I have one unresolved issue: when I log on at a workstation with an account that is supposed to be domain admin, I have no administration rights.

I checked with smbldap-groupshow "Domain Admins" and this user is in the group. I also removed the workstation from the domain and then removed it with smbldap-userdel ws1$ and then put it back into domain using this user's login/passwword. This worked, but the user still has no administration rights on the workstation.

I need help on this.

Installation and Upgrades / Thin Client

ebox 1.0
It is not clear how to set it up, nor what it can do.

What I would like to do is netboot the stations. I tried to upload a .iso file, set ebox as server. A client gets an IP address, and reports a missing file.

The manual is not helpuf.
Please help.

I have eboxes running in similar eviroments (though not schools).
Roaming profiles are OK for this. You need to reinstall the workstations. Then follow http://www.pcc-services.com/articles/implement_sys_policies.html to setup policies. Be restrictive.

I prefere Kasperski.
