Installation and Upgrades / DHCP fixed address issue / Zentyal 2.2
« on: December 16, 2011, 12:10:30 pm »
Hi all,

I was running a zentyal older version for one year and a half without problem and I recently tried the last version on a test platform.
I did a fresh new install of Zentyal based on the iso download on the zentyal website .

My configuration version is the following:

ii  zentyal-webserver                    2.2.2                                    Zentyal - Web Server

My configuration is :
a server with two interfaces (eth0 internal - dhcp for lan) and eht1 for external.
I have activated the zentyal cache DNS and dhcp module (for eth0 interface).

My problem is concerning the DHCP configuration
I have defined a dynamic range from 192.168.10.100 to 192.168.10.250 which works very fine (adress is ok for new client, ping based on hostname is working fine within the LAN and internet access works also)

I wanted then to assign fixed IP address and then problems started.
I read a lot of post concerning ( "_", lowercase and this kind of issue) so I carefully set a name on my fixed IP client which is simple: hmi1
and I created a network object in the DHCP module, named:  tnvit with one member which is:

name: hmi1
IP address: CIDR - 192.168.10.73
MAC address: 00:e0:4c:d4:5f:96

I saved the module and restart dhcp module and then I rebooted my client. I can see on the zentyal dashboard in the dhcp widget the following:
192.168.10.206   00:e0:4c:d4:5f:96   hmi1

so as you can see the dynamic range has been applied whatever the module configuration is. I tryed with a FQDN, a simple one, another machine with different MAC address...

I'm really lost and don't know how to troubleshoot anything.

Is there any configuration problem or known remainng particular issue I'm missing

Thanks in advance for your help

Installation and Upgrades / how to share a NAS directory ?
« on: November 03, 2010, 02:55:32 pm »
Hi all,

This is probably a small problem but I don't know samba well enough (one of the reason I use zentyal).

I have a ubuntu 10.04 server running Zentyal 2.0 whith file sharing module active (2 eth connection (Internet and LAN).

I have also a NAS storage attached to the LAN network and i'd like the shares of this NAS being accessible via the zentyal server to benefit from the login credential of the zentyal PDC server.

In the share name of zentyal GUI interface, I just can't add addresslike //NASserver/shares is that normal (/ seem not to be supported) ?

How is this supposed to work ?

Thanks in advance

Snarf

EDIT 15:05
Sorry, my fault, during my different trials the "file system" has been reset to "directory under zentyal" to enter the share name...

The share is now added but I can't mount it from a client automatically (ubuntu 10.10 running zentyal desktop 0.2). Even with the connection pop up using the credentials (the one I declare during the share definition) and the domain name, Ubuntu returns "unable to mount"....

What can I try ?

Installation and Upgrades / Zarafa preliminary test
« on: September 02, 2010, 02:37:06 pm »
Hello Everybody,

I'm trying the new module zarafa on an ubuntu 10.04 server config.

Before that I used to use egroupware and I was able to get mail either from the egroupware web access or from a mail client (evolution / thunderbird).

Now with zarafa, when the module is active mails are accessible from zarafa web access but no more from other client. Is there a config to modify to change this (pop / imap OR leave mail on server OR get mail only when users is logged in zarafa).

Another point is : what is admin user / password to access zarafa ?

thanks in advance

Installation and Upgrades / Zarafa contact
« on: September 02, 2010, 01:25:35 pm »
Hi all,

I freshly reinstall everything based on Zentyal 2.0 in order to set up a mail server and groupware.

just a simple question concerning Zarafa.

I can access it without problem with the login / password of my ebox ldap settings. I am also able to browse these contacts from the zarafa mail. But in the contact menu I can't see anything  ...

Am i missing a simple conf or is there something to customize to make them visible.

Thanks in advance and congratulations for this new release.

Installation and Upgrades / basic ldap setting
« on: August 30, 2010, 01:36:43 pm »
Hi all,

I plan to install SOGo and make it work together with EBox. Before, because I'm really a total beginner with LDAP, I'm trying to understand a little bit better ldap setting and the way it is managed by EBox.

To do that I installed GQ software (I'm running an ubuntu  10.04) to externally connect to my ebox ldap but I can't succeed to connect to my ldap directory. To start, I just wanted to browse for the users I add in users and groups module.

So my basic questions are:
what kind of authentification should  I set  ? I guess SASL but using the password given in LDAP settings page of EBox does not allow me to connect.
I just configured the BaseDN in GQ being the one I saw in EBox. Am I missing something else ?

PS:
  - firewall has been set to authorise ldap port.
  - I can't find any logs for ldap module in EBox, is there somewhere I can check to help troublshooting ?
Thank you for helping me

Installation and Upgrades / [SOLVED] VPN config
« on: August 30, 2010, 11:41:46 am »
Hello everybody,

I'm starting configuring my Zentyal VPN server and I have (I guess) a totally beginner question.
I watched the tutorial "how to set up a vpn" but I'm stuck at the beginning. Actually, I don't understand the client configuration. In the video, for example, the ebox admin is never using the "Client" sub menu of the left banner  "VPN" menu. It only uses the "Download client bundle" from the server sub menu.

Does this replace any client config ? how to use the client certificate I issued.

When I try to add a client, Ebox tells me that my server config is not finished, but I don't know what to add....

Finally, from a ubuntu client (connected on eth0 of ebox server (external) (eth1 being my LAN I want to access remotely)) I install openvpn package and try the :
openvpn --config mygeneratedebundle.conf and I got the following terminal answer:

PS: I added a rule in the firewall to allow vpn service (I let the port by default during the server conf)

Here is the log:

Thanks in advance for your help and again congratulations for this great software

Installation and Upgrades / firewall port / service
« on: August 25, 2010, 05:18:02 pm »
Hi all,

I have a very simple question...
Indeed I am used to configure iptables by hand and I am lost with the firewall ebox module.
It doesn't show any port number but only service. Some of them can be easily deduced (ntp, ssh...) but some other are not obvious. For example, does "Mail system" refer to smtp ? It should not be pop or imap as they are unitary described but how to know.

Perhaps it could be usefull to display the port number associated with the service (or better to be able to change for customisation)

Thanks in advance

Hi everybody

Up to now I never succeeded in having both ebox system with a master / slave LDAP config.
I was stuck with another "stringify" issue before and I can't make it work whatever the useful workaround I found on this forum.
I finally decided to restart from scratch to understand what I'm doing wrong.

Here I am ...

To troubleshoot my problem I install two VM running Ubuntu server 10.04
On each of them I installed Ebox (or since today Zentyal) package and from the GUI also the usersandgroups package.
One machine (named maintest) is set as master and the other one (mailtest) is set as slave connected to the previous LDAP  master.

My problem is that is unable for me to get both machine synchronised correctly. It seems to work with management of users but never with groups. Even with users, the replication is done but I still get some message:
"slave-sync:79 main::__ANON__ - Trying to run method addUser with param Test01 on slave HASH(0x5c411f0) failed"

here is the log I get on both machine if this can help someone to give me a hand... I'm totally stuck with this....

I must confess I am absolute beginner with LDAP so I don't know how to troubleshoot but it worked previously so transparently with Ebox (at least when I'm using it as standalone !!)

Many thanks for your help in advance

here are the log...

Installation and Upgrades / Mail Server + Webmail
« on: July 30, 2010, 05:25:02 pm »
Hello,

I'm configuring a mail server on a ubuntu 10.04 server and I encounter problem with the webmail module (roundcube).
This server is also used as gateway from external world (internet) and LAN.
Indeed the mail server seems totally OK as an "evolution" ubuntu mail client configured on the LAN can send / receive mails without problems (even to / from outside my domain)

But when connecting to the webmail from the external interface, I 'm able to reveive mail but not to send (no error from the webmail but they never reached their recipient).

Looking at the mail.log exemple here after:

Jul 30 18:20:46 main dovecot: imap-login: Login: user=<xx.yy@companyname.com>, method=PLAIN, rip=127.0.0.1, lip=127.0.0.1, secured
Jul 30 18:20:46 main dovecot: IMAP(xx.yy@companyname.com): Disconnected: Logged out bytes=71/835

it seems that I can't grant access and am instantly disconnected.
It is possible to configure the way the webmail is connected to the mail server (TLS, authentification...).

Do some of you have a clue for me to overcome this issue.

Thanks in advance

Snarf
