This does not look like a Zentyal question and you are not giving us a lot of detail either.
It should be possible to move your Windows Plex to Linux and also preserve the metadata but the settings are stored differently.
You can find plenty of advice on how to go about it with a simple Google search for something like move Plex media server to Linux and starting from sites lie Reddit.

This is a Windows policy issue that you should manage via RSAT (Remote Server Administration Tools) from a Windows machine connected to your Zentyal domain.

Have a look here as a start?

Directory and Authentication / Re: Radius module missing

If you can't upgrade yet for any reason, I remember seeing resources explaining how to set Radius up manually on Zentyal versions that did not include it.

However, it's going to be more work than worth it if you are in a position to install the newer release.

Radius was not present in Zentyal 5.1 if I remember right.

It is in 6.0.

Have you started by setting up a basic share on Zentyal under File Sharing menu and giving it reasonable permissions, say "Read and Write" for "Domain Users"?
Can you access that basic share?

Hello,

My two Zentyal domain controllers are not rsynced and have limited storage space - the second really is inly a basic virtual machine in case something happens to the physical server.

Would it be possible to have Zentyal pointing each user to a home directory under FREENAS_SERVER\COMPANY\USERS\ ?

The FreeNAS server is joined to the domain and in regular use, just not for the home folders.

Situation: mix of Windows 10 and Ubuntu clients with users and groups configured on a Zentyal domain (no Windows servers).

Should I use RSAT and Windows policies or samba passwordsettings?

The reason of my questions are described here -> https://serverfault.com/questions/780934/password-policy-in-active-directory-inactivation-of-complexity-without-effect

Have you tried using aliases?

Directory and Authentication / Re: RPC service in Zentyal

Got this suggestion when posting on reddit - maybe can help but still suggests the tool is not fully compatible.

"If the storage on the server running alternative Os is mapped as a local volume (e.g. iscsi target), then it can work. Not sure if mapped drives are supported."

Confessing my ignorance here...
Are you sure FSRM is supposed to work with non-native-Windows samba-based file servers?
I had a quick google-up and could not find a direct answer....

DNS forwarders:

If you use your router to resolve internet addresses and your machines need to access the internet, then yes: add the router address as dns forwarder in Zentyal's dns settings if a major internet dns server (or your provider's) cannot be reached directly.
"The server will send the queries to the forwarders first, and if not answered it will attempt to answer the query."

Where are your pcs getting ip address from?
If DHCP is configured on Zentyal, they should not need local configuration for dns resolution - they would receive it directly from Zentyal's DHCP.
If DHCP is assigned by the router, they will need local configuration OR the router can be configured to pass Zentyal dns address automatically to internal machines.
If IP is assigned manually (no DHCP), they will need local configuration.

If you set up Zentyal with the default user "ubuntu" and did not set up a separate account for Zentyal domain administration, you may automatically have a Domain administrator account called "Administrator" with the same password you set up for ubuntu user.

Why not setting them up as domain controller + additional domain controller and use Rsync Sysvol replication for keeping them at the same level + copying over whatever file shares you need?

Some info here
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Rsync_based_SysVol_replication_workaround
https://www.tecmint.com/samba4-ad-dc-sysvol-replication/

Be careful if you want to have the file shares in 2 places - you may end up with inconsistencies if your users are able to write on both.

Maybe you'd rather like the file share on the second "backup" server to be hidden or read-only.

Just a quick note: keeping a lot of documents on the desktop is a very dangerous habit.

Apart from the sync + roaming profiles issue, the documents can get often damaged and lost in case of profile corruption (and slow logins/logouts may cause corruption if the user does not wait for the process to complete correctly).

One workaround that I have used for my users is creating links on the desktop to some local folder elsewhere: if they save stuff using that "desktop folder" they are actually saving in C:/Documents or other, or on the file server if they are not supposed to save on the local disk.
