Installation and Upgrades / Unable to get pop3 certificate
« on: May 22, 2013, 10:05:15 pm »
Now that Zentyal doesn't allow clear text sign on for pop3, I thought it was about time I used the secure version, even though it's a completely internal network, instead of hacking the dovecot configuration.

I created a CA.  Added the POP server as a service.  But whenever I try to connect from a Thunderbird client, I get the pop-up window to add a security exception, but it says that there is no information available about the certificate and so leaves the Confirm button greyed out, which means I can't add this.

The error I see in syslog is:
Code: [Select]
May 22 12:59:10 Zentyal dovecot: pop3-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts): rip=192.168.0.2, lip=192.168.0.254, TLS: SSL_read() failed: error:14094418:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:tlsv1 alert unknown ca: SSL alert number 48
Any ideas what's wrong here and why I can't import this certificate.  I also tried to import manually, using <My Hostname>:995 but that gives exactly the same error.

I do see the certificates in the /etc/dovecot/ssl directory, and on a cursory glance appears to be OK, but I'm not an SSL expert.

What further information do I need to supply to investigate this.

Cheers.

Sorry, maybe I should have updated that post, but some boards don't like resurrecting older threads, even ones from a few months ago.

That other post had the OP reporting an issue with:  Error output: /bin/cat: /var/lib/zentyal/conf/zentyal-mysql.passwd: No such file or directory.  This was then, to my mind, hijacked with the "Deep recursion" error, which the rest of the thread, and the associated fix was for.  That was my second reason for a new thread.

But, as I said, I re-installed, using a slightly different methodology, and the issue never reappeared.

Cheers.

After reinstalling my 3.0-2 system cleanly, I configured it to match my old installation.  During the configuration I encountered 2 issues and I'm not sure if they're related as they both have to do with users.

Trying to start or re-start File Sharing throws an error:  "user name Administrator already exists".

The second issue is that I cannot log in to any of the users I defined.  They all fail with:  Authentication failure.

From my Winblows 7 machine, I can see all the advertised shares, but can only navigate to sysvol.  All the others fail with:  The network path was not found.

Looking at the logs, I can't see anything that might pinpoint what is going on here.

Cheers.

Not sure if the issue might be related to the order that packages are installed, or something similar.  For this install I selected all the packages I use.

I bit the bullet and re-installed from scratch, but this time only selected Network, and it's dependencies on the initial install and then added the remainder later.  This time I was able to complete the install and move on to configuration where more woes awaited.

Cheers.

I'm getting the exact same sympton as reported here:
Code: [Select]
zentyal@Zentyal-3:~$ sudo dpkg --configure -a
[sudo] password for zentyal:
Setting up zentyal-firewall (3.0.3) ...
root command /bin/cat /var/lib/zentyal/conf/zentyal-mysql.passwd failed.
Error output: /bin/cat: /var/lib/zentyal/conf/zentyal-mysql.passwd: No such file or directory

Command output: .
Exit value: 1dpkg: error processing zentyal-firewall (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of zentyal-dhcp:
 zentyal-dhcp depends on zentyal-firewall; however:
Package zentyal-firewall is not configured yet.
etc. etc. etc.
The fix referred to in that post appears to be for a different issue.

What is needed for this problem.

Cheers,
Eddie

I did create the directories to stop any errors in the future, but there's no way, I could see, to re-apply the update in the event that it wasn't done correctly the first time.

Installation and Upgrades / Latest core update on 2.2 thows an error
« on: April 12, 2013, 03:23:47 am »
Just tried updating to the latest version of core package on my 2.2 system, when notified that there was a new version available.
Code: [Select]
Some modules reported error when saving changes . More information on the logs in /var/log/zentyal/
directory /etc/zentyal/pre-save does not exist.
Hopefully everything is still OK, as there isn't any option to re-try the update.

Cheers.

I've noticed the same issue trying to connect to my test 3.0 server.  It appears that the configuration has changed to not allow plaintext authentication without TLS.

Which is a pain, because Outlook doesn't play STARTTLS at all.  It's either plaintext or SSL.

*** Update ***
This is from 2.2:
Code: [Select]
+OK Dovecot ready.
capa
+OK
CAPA
TOP
UIDL
RESP-CODES
PIPELINING
STLS
USER
SASL PLAIN LOGIN
And from 3.0:
Code: [Select]
+OK Dovecot ready.
capa
+OK
CAPA
TOP
UIDL
RESP-CODES
PIPELINING
STLS
SASL GSSAPI
Cheers.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Cannot Install/Run with multiple CPUs
« on: November 03, 2012, 07:36:37 pm »
It looks like it's a change in behaviour between either 32-bit/64-bit or the kernels between Ubuntu 10.04/12.04.  I'm guessing the kernels, as other 64-bit Linux images I have boot normally.

Booting with the 64-bit 12.04 Ubuntu release does exactly the same.  So my guess, is that it's something at that particular kernel level, or a kernel option, used causing it.

I don't have too much time to investigate further, and as this system was only going to be used for a quick checkout of Zentyal 3.0 before I rebuild my current 2.2 system.

Cheers.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Cannot Install/Run with multiple CPUs

It's an old Tyan S2891 with a pair of dual-core Opterons.  It's "twin brother" is currently running 32-bit Zentyal 2.2 without any problems.  Previously this very board was my ESXi server running all the versions from 3.5 -> 5.1 without issues.

There isn't any problem with the ISO, as once I used nolapic everything was fine, apart from the single core, that is.  And the 2 kernels in Zentyal, the one installed and the updated one both have the same issue.

I'm just downloading the Ubuntu 12.04.1 64-bit ISO to see what it makes of the board.  I'll report back later.

Cheers.

Installation and Upgrades / Cannot Install/Run with multiple CPUs
« on: November 01, 2012, 07:52:25 pm »
Trying to install the 3.0 64-bit from DVD.  Every time the system just reboots itself before the initial screen comes up.

After playing around with the advanced options, setting "nolapic" allows the install to run.  This leaves the option also set in the grub menu for booting Zentyal.  Removing that goes into the same reboot cycle.

But, that means that Zentyal is only using one core of my 2 dual-core CPUs.

Not sure if the same issue happens on a single multi-core CPU, but I'm guessing not, otherwise a lot more people would have noticed.

Even upgrading to the 3.2.0-32 kernel has the same issue.

Ideas ??

Cheers.

Bump, with the answer as to what's going on.

According to this FAQ entry, fetchmail is supposed to notice certain "broken" Maillennium servers and change it's behaviour accordingly.  Except it looks like AT&T changed the greeting at some point, so that fetchmail no longer recognises the "broken" server as such.

Adding the "fetchall" flag to fetchmail as a workaround seems to have done the trick.  How do I make this a permanent change, so it won't be lost with any future updates.

Cheers.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: [SOLVED] Zentyal extremely slow
« on: October 12, 2012, 09:20:45 pm »
This looks like another manifestation of this.

Except mine is under ESXi, so no "real" hardware involved.  And no other VMs are showing any strange symptoms, so I have nothe else to suggest the "real" hardware is a fault.

Cheers.

Sorry it took me a few days to get this, but here you go.

I also took a copy of the mail from the spool, before it was picked up by the client pop3 service if you need it.
Code: [Select]
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root    root       81233 2012-10-10 14:04 1349902477.M766394P19949.The-Vault,S=81233,W=82338
BTW.  I also changed the client e-mail, Thunderbird, to pull directly from the ISP, bypassing Zentyal and this was able to pull the attachment correctly, with no truncation.

Cheers.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Inconsistent detection of multiple NICs

Also, deleting the network rules files doesn't cause it to be recreated, which I thought was the default action.

Cheers.
