Installation and Upgrades / Re: v2.0.23 - Backup config error

Yes, backing up to a WD Workbook NAS in RAID-0 config. Your suggestion?

That's a kludge!

The Zentyal docs state that either KVM or VirtualBox can be used as the default but don't describe how to make it so. I (and many others) need a 'bridged' i/f for the VM's but can't get KVM to do it.

So my question is: Is it a limitation of KVM and if not, will a patch to v2.2 be made available or will this issue be resolved in v3.0?

Hi, after several hours I couldn't work it out.

As it was a new install, I just backed up the system/module config settings from the i/f and performed a re-install from the ISO. This solved the issue.

Perhaps a permissions issue occurred as a consequence of my doing something else late at night. <shrug>

Installation and Upgrades / Enterprise subscription
« on: March 09, 2012, 07:55:37 pm »
I have two live installations of Zentyal. V2.0 and v2.2 at different sites.

Before paying €1200 p/a for an Enterprise subscription, I first need some reassurance from Zentyal staff and experienced users.

After having silently browsed this forum for some time I realise that many others are having either the same or similar issues with the three modules that I am unable to adequately resolve within a reasonable time frame.

1.) FTP Backup (to a WD NAS)
2.) Virtualisation (unable to bridge the i/f of the supplied KVM created virtual machines or instruction on how to replace with VirtualBox)
3.) VoIP (outbound calls to a 3rd party SIP provider do not work despite the correct config of the desktop settings)

What concerns me are the responses to issues such as 'use the interface to configure the bridge, don't manually modify the settings as it will mess things up'. However, a direct answer and resolution to the issue are absent.

Does anyone else on this forum receive satisfactory resolution to their problems via a paid subscription or is the software just broken? I just don't want to pay the dough and have the issues perpetually unresolved.

Thanks in advance.

Did you work this out?

Installation and Upgrades / Re: E-mail aliases to external address

Great! I use this feature on one of my Zentyal 2.0 boxes.

I could retype it all but it is quite well written about here -->> http://doc.zentyal.org/en/mail.html and is straight forward enough to implement.

Scroll down to the section labelled 'E-mail account creation through virtual domains'.

Hope that this helps.

PS. Under 'settings' there is an option 'Send a copy of all mail domains'. This is essentially a 'Catch-all' mailbox for the virtual domain.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: v2.0.23 - Backup config error

Hi, thanks for the reply.

As I mentioned in the original post, I am able to FTP into the share on the NAS and perform various file I/O.So that's not the issue here.

To answer your second question:it is a production machine, so I am a little sceptical about handing off an upgrade to a script. If it broke, it would still be a hassle to restore via RAID or Acronis.

Does the FTP remote backup function actually work on 2.0?

Thanks in advance.

Installation and Upgrades / v2.0.23 - Backup config error
« on: March 07, 2012, 05:48:43 am »
I have setup a test FTP backup to a WD NAS and I am able to ftp into the share from a terminal.

However, /var/log/ebox/ebox.log shows 'connection refused' and the backup fails.

Attached is an image of the backup config screen and the link below is the grep list.

Any ideas about what may be wrong here?

Thanks in advance.

dpkg -l | grep "ebox-" -->> http://paste.ubuntu.com/872540/

Installation and Upgrades / Re: E-mail aliases to external address

Are you asking how to setup a local email address on the local Zentyal domain so that when email is sent to the local alias it is forwarded via an external email account and when email is retrieved from that external account, it is forwarded to the local alias on the Zentyal domain?

Hello all,

I have a new Zentyal 2.2 installation configured & up and running. There is also an active Zentyal 2.0 installation running successfully at another site.

On the 2.2 box, we need to relay outbound mail. However, the problem is that when I enter the 'Smarthost Authentication' details in the 'Mail' section and then save changes, the changes are neither saved or applied and  therefore mail is not being relayed because authentication with the remote SMTP host cannot occur.

Any suggestions on how to fix this issue or anyone else experiencing this particular problem?

Thanks in advance.

FYI:

I fixed the problem with 'apt-get install zental-all' from the Administrator console.

Something was broken...

Hi, I removed several packages from Zentyal yesterday via 'software management'.

After a reboot, DHCP does not start and I can't login to the Zentyal control panel via https://127.0.0.1 but I can ping external sites from the 'Administrator Console' .

Any suggestions.
