As I understand it, to get a true exchange type replacement, for up to 3 Outlook/Exchange type users, it needs to be converted from the OSS edition of Zarafa to the Community edition.
What I would like is someone who has experience with this to post a how-to. I have Zarafa set up, and I can kind of/sort of get some parts of it working through thunderbird. It would be a completely useless set up for anything but an IT professional such as myself.
I'd love some sort of choice when installing it to choose the ability to install the Community edition right from the Zentyal packages, but at the very least, I'd like the confidence that I can install this and have it work for people with much less effort than what I've had to put into it to just get basic functionality out of it.
I'd be happy to be the guinea pig to help test that out. Also, there needs to be an easy method to go from Community to a fully licensed version for people with more than 3 outlook users.

You can only download Zarafa Community Edition (inc 3 Outlook users support) from their website. That's why is not integrated directly in Zentyal. The included version is completely OSS but you can just download the Debian packages from their website, install on top and will work:
dpkg -P --force-depends zarafa-*
dpkg -i zarafa-xxx/*.deb
/etc/init.d/ebox zarafa restart
and should work.

Hi FutureTechsys, if you test this, please report it here :)
I am also interested.

Do I need to have Zentyal be an AD controller? Right now I am running it domainless.

No.

With zarafa-xxx I mean the extracted folder from Zarafa community version software.I highly suggest to get professional support if you don't have the enough basic knowledge to install that.

Sorry, thought your instructions were complete and meant to be cut and pasted.

I've written down some easy to follow steps here: http://trac.zentyal.org/wiki/Document/FAQ

Hi Jsalamero,
Does this procedure delete mail storages?
-
I have tested it in a test server and it work.
It is necesary to unistall also ebox-zarafa module (dependencies) and reinstall after installing zarafa packages.
The mail storage is preserved.
I have tested the outlook connector and it works for mail, but not for calendars, notes etc...
BTW, In zarafa website, there is no longer Open source, and comunity editions. They are unified in an Comunity open source edition. When licensing module is installed, this edition also support 3 outlook clients.
It woukd be nice if Zential update the groupware module to install this new edition with support for 3 outlook clients....

Hi acon,
that information was outdated, we have updated the FAQ accordingly: http://trac.zentyal.org/wiki/Document/FAQ.
Zentyal Zarafa version supports up to 3 Outlook users, for more users you need to buy licenses in our store.
Cheers,
-
To get it working, you need to:
Edit /usr/share/ebox/stubs/zarafa/server.cfg.mas with:
server_bind = 0.0.0.0
Install license server:
sudo aptitude install zarafa-licensed
Now you can install outlook connector and configure it.

Hi,
you wrote that the Zentyal Zarafa Version supports 3 Outlook Users. I tried connecting my Outlook 2010 Client with my Zentyal Server. But I dont get a connection. I tried the Zarafa Outlook Client, with the same error. Maybe I missunderstood something. I want connection my Outlook Client to use Mail, Calendar, Contacts. Is it possible?
Regards
Dirk

Follow acon steps and add a firewall rule for port 236/TCP.

I was trying myself to use Outlook(2003,2007) on Windows Xp and 7 and It wasn't possible to configure outlook to work with Zarafa 7(on Zentyal 2.2).
The strange things which is happening is that even with firewall stopped I can't telnet on port 236,so is not possible to configure Outlook properly.
Other strange thing is if I,m modifying to server_bind = 0.0.0.0 after a restart or even without restart ,if I check the settings it became 127.0.0.1.What is happening?
-
Hi,
I have created a small howto, maybe there is something useful for you in there: http://trac.zentyal.org/wiki/Documentation/Community/HowTo/ZarafaSetupWithOutlookThunderbirdSync

You also should look at the /var/logs/zarafa/ logs like the server.log + licensed.log for the OL connector. dagent.log for mail incoming, and spooler.log for mail outgoing.
Default I would opt to use the https connection. 239.
no clue about the 0.0.0.0->127.0.0.1, this might be zentyal keeping its config files in line with the settings database.

Which file are you changing exactly? /etc/zarafa/gateway.cfg or /usr/share/ebox/stubs/zarafa/gateway.cfg ?

/etc/zentyal/zarafa.conf (or /etc/ebox/80zarafa.conf) and then restart the module.
