Hi, and thanks for the reply.

what is Dansguardian? I don't see an entry in the "ps -ef" listing.

Dansguardian is the actual program within ebox that handles you dns requests!!

I guess thank you is in order  ;)

You're running VM's something I yet have to play with !! ::)

I have a similar problem: my client can login, but then switches into offline mode when copying data to or from the server.
So I'd be interested in this solution, too. But: what is the ipmc service?

Any pc with ICMP (this was a type error in previous post) is able to get ping requests while without you will not be able to ping that particular device

For your case It sounds more like a dns problem to me ,check to see if your dansgaurdian daemon is set to run-true (false is the default and may leave some connections hanging while connected

could you perhaps elaborate more on this for me so I can see how the client is connecting and you dont perhaps have 2 or more routers connected to your server??

Well It seems my setup is working perfectly now!!

Hope this tread can help someone else as well!!

The command line used to be slow Installing a fresh copy on a much bigger server solved that problem for me

As to the timeouts I added the service icmp and putted it into both the firewall/packet filter/rules for internal networks and rules for internal networks to ebox and for the whole day today I had no timeouts whatsoever on any of the services probed by my dude program

Which is a great relieve to me

I think its the Nat in firewall and this rule overrides (it I hope)

Will let you know if there has been a timeout but 14 hours without a timeout is good compared to the every hour I'm used to

Regarding valshare's statement Ive had this problem since ebox ver 0.12 I am currently using ebox ver 1.4.2

Sorry for hijacking your thread!

I have the same problem

Adding your credidentials into the usercorner/external email accoutns does not work after a fresh install on a new server (faster server)

My mail works perfectly can send outwardly and recieve from any host , so its not my setup !

I have downloade the external accounts.pm docket my problem is I cant find the directory to edit in ebox ver 1.4.2

Any help will be greatly appreaciated!!

Installation and Upgrades / Service drops in ebox on 1.4.2

Hi everyone !

I've been struggling for quite some time now to get my server running smooth!

I did my setup in network/interfaces eth0=internet gateway (wan) eth1 is my wireless network and eth2 is my local LAN

I have a windows pc with dude installed which monitors my local and wireless connections !

My setup in ebox is router directly connected to eth0, my local network connected directly to eth2 via switch , my wireless network connected directly connected  to eth1 via switch ,the windows pc with dude on has 2 separate network cards in one connected directly to the wireless network switch and the other  to my LAN switch so both networks can be scanned without being able to see one another via that 1 pc with dude (probes all services in 30 second intervals) !

In ebox/network/interfaces/eth2 I created my local network gateway with ip 192.127.1.250 and setup the route in ebox/network/static routes to network 192.127.1.0/24  gateway 192.127.1.250

In ebox/network/interfaces/eth1 I created my wireless network gateway with ip 192.168.2.250 and setup the route in ebox/network/static routes to network 192.168.2.0/24  gateway 192.168.2.250

All is working perfectly mail, dns, file server ,voip ,proxy internet and web server but I have in intervals of 1 hour a total of 1 minute service drops where ping, smtp, pop3 ,imap4 ,ssh and http drops and I can only shorten the time of inactivity by pinging one of the pc's in that network from ebox itself

Now I have tracked the problem down to the firewall itself by viewing my firewall logs ! The firewall simply drops connections made from any pc in that network to ebox for that time!

How do I fix this problem  ???

Any one with the same problem as mine ???

I know its ebox now I added another PC with windows to all the networks running to my ebox server and the windows PC can be pinged all the time even when ebox gateway times out :o

Ive added into rules to internal networks and internal networks to ebox accept source:any service any tcp and any udp

The timeouts Is shorter only 1 min at a time and 1 hour intervals

One question ! does ebox restart the firewall to load logs because if that's the case this could be my problem maybe I can add a rule to the configuration to not restart when connections are open

One other thing ebox ver 0.11.99 running on exactly the same server does not have any timeouts!!

Installation and Upgrades / timeouts to ebox via local lan
« on: July 10, 2010, 12:32:09 pm »
Hi to all !

I have some difficulties with my current ebox setup (could be the way its setup or even the pc might be to slow either way I really need to resolve this!) I have 2 internet gateways 1=512kb sat-link (just for my mail) and the other is a 1mb/s wireless isp in town(for all other services) both connected to one switch witch is connected to my LAN and the ebox server !

I did setup the server(ebox) for proxy mail voip dns file server and web server all working perfectly!

the only problem is I have some timeouts on this server in 15min intervals for 45 min some times where all the services drop and then picks up again you can not ping, access the box or even send and receive mail ! I have dude installed on one of the local pc's which monitors all traffic via smtp and of coarse the services ! I can then see when services drop and pick up again all stays alive accept for the ebox server!

The pc ebox is loaded on is an Intel 2.5ghz 1gb ram and 360gb hdd (with a CPU load of 56% and ram usage of 384mb I don't think the box is the problem but I might be wrong)!

How do I fix the timeouts I do have a hunch its something small in the firewall!!

Installation and Upgrades / timeouts to ebox via local lan

Hi to all hope you can help me on this one!!

First of all I would like to apologize for my previous statement (Ebox 1.2 not stable)

Attached is my network (just an overlay of the network) cannot add my picture(the attachment folder is full )

Now as you can see the ebox services drop totally for about 45minutes and the picks up I can then surf get email send email access the box via https and all the services !

Here is what gets me frustrated

the 2 wireless networks connecting to the same network card never gets "timeouts" and the voip phone in the office never disconnects !! (I guess we can conclude the problem is not in the ebox server now) All the pc's in the home network whom connects to the same card as all the other networks gets timeouts. 5 of them is loaded with win xp and one with vista !

I have set a different network card in the server for my home connections at first, after getting timeouts switched over to the other, and the same happens in this card as well ! I also changed the range of ip con-figs to a different sub-mask but still the same happened ! What am I doing wrong or what can be the cause of this timeouts?

Okay regarding this matter:

Ive been playing around in my windows server (xp pc with WAMP installed and redirection using the php.ini is easy so Can i direct my Apache server to a local user in ebox and the Apache httpd.conf?

11
You see now I am actually getting the reply I wanted Thank you a lot didn't even think about doing that

12
Thank you I will try this and see if it allows me to transfer files using WinCSP

as for security I can always deny external connections to my server using ssh and tftp that way no one except for my internal networks can access my server even there I can change the firewall so only my ip can use ssh because my pc is always on no one will be able to enter so thank you very much its highly appreciated

just 'sudo -i' you will get # cheers

Works in putty but does not work in WinCSP What I was looking for is a way to add just 'sudo -i' and your password to the command terminal in WinCSP?
