Other modules / Where is CUPS/Printer in 5.0
« on: May 26, 2017, 09:21:15 pm »
I was going to upgrade one of my lab boxes from 4.2 to 5.0 but noticed the CUPS/Printer module is gone. Did it move and I just can't find it or was it removed?

If it's removed, what about previous printers that were only served by Zentyal? Can I reload the module into 5.0? How?

If removed, is it coming back? If not, alternatives?

Other modules / Disable Root DNS lookups
« on: March 04, 2017, 03:49:03 pm »
I have Zentyal 4.2 and 5.0 setup in our lab and we are working on our network security. One thing we noticed is that Zentyal continually tries to contact the root DNS servers for some reason. Is there a way to disable this behavior and if so how.

The best I could find was instructions stating that if you define a forwarder, then Zentyal would use that and ignore the root DNS servers. I tried that but it didn't stop the traffic.

Any ideas/thoughts? No it's not really a big deal but it's just unnecessary noise on the network.

Installation and Upgrades / Register Offline Community Server
« on: January 31, 2015, 10:00:16 pm »
I have a couple of servers running Community v3.5. They are all off the internet and running in our lab. I wanted to be able to setup the backup to go to our NAS but that apparently is not available unless you register - only local backup is possible.

So to prevent the extra 3 steps of copying the backup local and then moving it to our NAS, I tried to register only to find I can't.

So how do I go about getting this done? The biggest issue is I want the backups to go to our offline storage and that isn't an option. If the only way to do that is by registering, how to I go about registering a server that will never be connected to the internet?

Thanks!!!

Installation and Upgrades / Syslog Client
« on: January 31, 2015, 09:15:57 pm »
I know there is a syslog built into Zentyal.

I also searched and saw the posts requesting various syslog changes.

What I am unable to find is how would I point my Zentyal box to output all of it's logs to my existing syslog server?

We are in a lab environment so no danger of things getting out and we have a central management server which handles lots of tasks. One of which is syslog. We've managed to get most things pointed there as the routers/switches and such are simple to configure. Issue is, I can't find where in Z to tell it not to keep the syslog files local but dump everything to the server.

Guessing it's in one of the .conf files but couldn't figure which one and didn't want to break it in the process of trying to move things around.

Thanks!!!

Installation and Upgrades / NTP Server Config in Lab Environment
« on: January 21, 2015, 01:03:34 am »
I'm having an issue with the NTP configuration. First, it's my network guy that reported it so I did not see it first hand but I do trust him.

NTP is setup and running and appears to be serving time just fine down to the esxi's and vms running. Tried to install a cisco call manager and for some reason it refused to install. The research revealed that the NTP stratum was too high and installation would not continue.

As I said, this is a lab environment so there is no outside internet NTP pools that I can find so is there a way to force the stratum on the Zentyal NTP server to some number < 10 without it finding an outside source?

Thanks!!!
