Installation and Upgrades / Zarafa, KDE Kontact and Akonadi
« on: January 28, 2011, 03:44:59 am »
KDE have just released v. 4.6 and their PIM package will soon get a new version of the mail package Kmail. This means that most things in the PIM will be based on Akonadi.
There seems to be some people talking about developing an Akonadi resource for Zarafa so that Kontact can communicate directly with it. But I have no idea when that will be finished.

Installation and Upgrades / Zarafa, Z-push and mobile clients
« on: January 28, 2011, 03:41:17 am »
I have been digging a little in the setup, and as far as I can see, Zentyal ships with Z-push, an open source activesync server for mobile units.
I have a standalone Zentyal server, it is not a gateway or connected directly to the internet. There is a firewall that takes care of that part. The firewall in Zentyal has been disabled.
So far, I get no hits on Z-push in the forum. Has anyone tried it? Does it work? I am not able to contact the server even if I have enabled activesync under Groupware.
The information I have found so far says that you need to give your mobile unit the server address. Should this be the whole address as
http://10.0.0.100/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync
or is there a different way of giving it?
Is the setup of Z-push in Zentyal complete, or is something missing?
As far as I understand, you should be able to connect with a browser to the above address and actually get an answer with a login. When I try to connect to the above address, it times out. This also happens on my mobile unit.

Installation and Upgrades / FAQ: Upgrade 1.4 to 2.0 and groupware choice
« on: August 28, 2010, 03:43:27 am »
A couple of questions are coming up in several threads and to answer them a post has been made in the FAQ section of the wiki.
One deals with the question if it will be possible to upgrade from 1.4 to 2.0 and the other explains the reasons for dropping eGroupWare and for choosing Zarafa.
Please check

Installation and Upgrades / Installing and testing MindTouch wiki (DekiWiki) on Zentyal
« on: August 28, 2010, 03:21:05 am »
I have been looking around to find a good wiki system that can server as a central for adding all sorts of information or documentation in a small company or home/office.
Most of the wiki systems require you to learn wiki markup and seems to be a bit heavy to administrate. But one of them stood out from the crowd and caught my interest. MindTouch looked like an interesting program to test. It is supposed to have an easy to use editor and gets a lot of good reviews. So I set out to install it on my Zentyal server.
The server is updated as of today, both system and Zentyal modules.
A little earlier, I installed Zarafa and have it working. At least I can log in and click around in the interface. That is about as far as I have been able to try it for now.
I am using this guide for the installation:
http://developer.mindtouch.com/en/docs/mindtouch_setup/010Installation/050Installing_on_Ubuntu
PrinceXML has been updated since this tutorial was written, so I took the chance of downloading the latest .deb package available, http://www.princexml.com/download/prince_7.1-1_i386.deb and install it. So far, so good. No errors.
As I do not plan to buy any of the packages, I installed the community version, MindTouch Core (dekiwiki).
I was not able to add the trusted root certificates. That required me to give the admin pass for dekiwiki and it had not been set yet.
I ran the startup command, but did not remove the default site yet.
After adding my domain to the apache file, I restarted apache.
One error is the link to the configuration file. I could not get it to work, so instead, I pointed the browser to
http://my.local.address/dekiwiki
This gave me a page with the setup. Obviously, something was wrong with the layout of that. It was probably meant to be several pages, but it came up with all pages listed under each other.
Never mind - I filled in all info and at the end clicked on "Install MindTouch" and got success :-)
At the bottom of the page I then got was a list of commands that needed to be done from the commandline.
OBS! for all commands in the tutorial and for the commands that had to be run at the end, you have to add sudo at the start.
All commands executed with no error.
But the button at the bottom that was supposed to take me to the site came up with a page that could not be found. Also, entering the address above that SHOULD take me to the wiki just threw me back to the root of the webserver.
I tried checking if it would help to disable site default, but still the same result.
So now it is time to hit the forum to find the answer to this. I'll get back with more info including setting it up to auth. with LDAP.

Installation and Upgrades / Zarafa - how do you sync addressbook and calendar with Kontact and Thunderbird?
« on: August 28, 2010, 02:11:28 am »
We are mainly using Kontact and Thunderbird and would like to be able to sync these to Zarafa.
Does anyone know how to do this, or have any good links? Have been trying to look through some documentation, but can not find it. Of course, it mentions a paid-for Outlook sync, but nothing about Kontact and Thunderbird.
Are there any kind of standard types of connections one can use with Zarafa?
One of the things I like with Zarafa is that it do not have anything else than the PIM functions. This means it leaves e.g. wiki to someone else.
Going to try to install MindTouch (DekiWiki) as well today.

Installation and Upgrades / Deleting printers in the CUPS interface
« on: August 27, 2010, 08:25:26 pm »
As Zentyal don't have any printer control anymore, we have to use the CUPS web interface. BUT - as I have been trying to get printers to work before this change happened, I had a printer set up already.
When I get to the CUPS admin interface, I see 4 printers, all identical and all with the same name for the job queue. This could definitely be why the eBox printers never worked.
My first concern now is to delete these 4 printers. I have tried via CLI and through the web interface, but nothing works. The web interface throws and error "Unable to connect" bot from my laptop and from the GUI directly on the server.
So how do I wipe the list of printers in CUPS?

Installation and Upgrades / [SOLVED] Zarafa - installed, but problems with web GUI
« on: August 27, 2010, 08:00:22 pm »
So now I just need to figure out how to get access to the web interface and how to sync addressbook and calendar from Kontact, Thunderbird and mobile devices :-)
I have enabled Zarafa for the relevant users by editing their settings. It should be easier than that! Zarafa should be possible to enable on group level so you do not have to edit each and every user. But I tried editing one of the groups and did not see anything about Zarafa there.
Also, pointing Firefox to http://my.ip.address/webaccess gives me a 404. So what do I do to access the webinterface? I am not using the firewall at all.
I can access the CUPS interface and administrate printers (more about that in a different post).
I get the "It works!" message if I just use the IP address and nothing else.
