Other modules / DHCP Reservations not providing gateway, subnets or DNS

Hi Everyone,

We have a zentyal 6.2 running as PDC for about a year now and its worked ok. We recently got a VOiP system and I tried to reserve the IPs of all the phones but for some reason they phone only gets an IP address but no gateway, subnet or DNS info. If remove the reservation and let the dhcp pool take over, the phone gets all the correct info.

What could i be doing wrong?

I have objects setup like so:
Polycom_64167fce8af1 - Reception x2102   10.0.0.207/32   64:16:7f:ce:8a:f1

the objects are in a group and that group was added to reserved section of DHCP config.

Installation and Upgrades / No such file ssl.pem after UPGRADE 4.2 -> 5 error [SOLVED]

Installed Zentyal 5 after removing zentyal 4.2 manually. I am getting the following error and can not open web admin to configure the server. Something is broken with nginx where it can not find certificate files.

How can this be fixed? I have apt-get purged zentyal core, software and even zenbuntu core and software multiple times and cant get past it.

Installation and Upgrades / the group domain users has not gidNumber set

I had a zentyal 3.5 that has been crying for an upgrade for a long time now. I went ahead against better judgement and upgraded because I wanted to install a new version of virtualbox and a few other utilities I need for my domain.

Now I get error messages about groups not having gidNumber set and I am unable to create new user accounts or modify shares. Is there a way to fix this. The server is at a remote site with approx 50+ users. Re installing and reconfigure all the users shares and computers joined to the domain is not an option.

Let me know what steps can help. The zentyal version is currently 4.1

Installation and Upgrades / [SOLVED] setting up openchange dual network card

I just installed zentyal 3.4 on a server with 2 network cards but can not get it to work as intended. Below are the details of my setup. Maybe I am doing something that just isnt possible.

eth0 = WAN = 10.160.10.21/24 gateway 10.160.10.1
eth1 = LAN = 10.200.12.21/24 gateway 10.200.12.1 DEFAULT

For the life of me I can not get the WAN interface to work as intended. I can not ping it from any network other than 10.160.10.0/24 and the public IP I have mapped of course will not allow me to connect so that I can use this as an openchange server.

Normally this would indicate a gateway issue. And when I look at the documentation I should be able to enable the default gateway on both interfaces.

I configure this from the web, but after clicking on save button, everything just reverts back to default gateway only being on eth1, what am I missing, or is this something that was not intended to work as I imagine it should.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. If specific details are required on any setting please let me know.

Installation and Upgrades / zentyal-samba 3.2.7 upgrade issue

I attempted to upgrade my zentyal 3 domain controller to the latest version from the webui. The upgrade froze and the server stopped working. I then did a reboot and after waiting almosst 1/2 an hour for it to come up I then tried: apt-get update && apt-get upgrade. The system then told me that I must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.

I ran the command, but the server is now stuck for over an hour at the line: 'Setting up zentyal-samba (3.2.7) ...'

It will not go any further than that. What are the correct steps to correct this issue? I am trying to prevent having to setup the entire domain again from scratch (if possible)

Installation and Upgrades / rejoin-slave command: what am i doing wrong?

I have a master slave setup with 1 master and 20+ slaves with File & print sharing planned (10 have been deployed) I often get the following error message.

Unknown error at EBox::SambaLdapUser::_getAccountFlags Referral received

From searching the forums and opening a ticket it appears the solution is to run the following command

sudo /usr/share/zentyal-users/rejoin-slave

The problem is everytime i have run that command on the slave it destroys my samba domain. The sync issue is taken care of but the commputers can not long into the domain any more. When i try to map a drive using the domain admin or any domain user account i get errors that point to the domain does not exist.

I usually end up having to the re-install users & groups on the slave which of course means a new samba domain SID and extra work rejoining all the computers to the domain.

Is this supposed to be normal behaviour after using the rejoin-slave command or am i doing something wrong? As i get further into the deployment it becomes less and less practical to keep rejoining the slave to sync ldap accounts. If anyone has any ideas or the correct steps to follow please help.

Installation and Upgrades / master/slave manual password sync

I understand that zentyal master server syncs passwords with the slave every hour or so. Is there a way (from command line maybe) to manually kick off this sync. I am in the process of converting about 30 sites to zentyal and i would like to be able to change a users password on the master and have them use the new password as soon as possible instead of waiting.

let me know if this is possible.

Installation and Upgrades / Master/slave error [could not get lock for zentyal-slave-sync]

i have my master setup and 4 slaves connected. For the most part everything works except manual sync. It appears the master is trying to sync to the slaves a group that does not exist on the server anymore. This results in the following error message that id like to clear.

In the error.log i see the following
Use of uninitialized value $id in concatenation (.) or string at /usr/share/zentyal/templates/ajax/customActions.mas line 9.

but nothing else that would give me a clue how to fix.


Does anyone have any ideas or pointers that dont involve resintalling from scratch? we are about half way through a deployment for 10 remote sites. so its kind of too late to start going backwards.

Installation and Upgrades / change server IP after install

I have looked for a concrete answer documenting this, but havent been able to find the info i need.

BAsically setting up 1 zentyal master in my data center and will connect about 40 slaves scattered around remote locations. Id like to configure all the slaves in my office and join them to the master, then change the ip address to match the LAN at the remote site, then ship the server.

Will i run into any issues if i change the IP address on the slave server? I will ofcourse update the DNS server so the names resolve correctly for LDAP, but just want to make sure i am not opening a can of worms by doing this.

My alternative is do a base install, set it to DHCP and ship server to remote site. once connected i would then install all the modules and join to ldap master.

I have successfully setup master/slave configurations on several test servers. What i would like to know is if its possible to only sync certain groups of users to the slave server instead of the entire ldap tree. the reason id like to do this is the slave servers will be in seperate offices and id like only the PDC user accounts to be on the slave.
