Installation and Upgrades / Connection reset errors (Browser)

Recently setup a brand new dell power edge T610 server running ebox, since setup ive notice that the intenet connection drops every couple of minutes or so (enough to annoy the users). Im currently trying to track the problem by disabling related network modules. I disabled the DNS module and now the connections seem to be constant. Maybe I messed up the settings some how is there anyway to revert the setting for a single ebox module to default?

Installation and Upgrades / Strange problem with Samba Shares
« on: October 27, 2009, 06:55:49 pm »
I have a small Samba domain running 12 users after a recent power outage and an fsck the system appears to be fine but no user is able to copy any files from the server to anywhere c:\, jump drive etc not even admin, users are able to create and delete copy to and move files inside the shared folder. but thats it.

The server has taken a couple of hits thanks to our local power company and office politics so the hard drive is showing DRDY errors and will be changed (hopefully this week)

  • Is it worth me fighting over this issue?
  • If yes (and I am kinda curious) has this ever happened to any1 b4, any suggestions?
  • I suspect this incident is gonna place some emphasis of better server hardware. any suggestions for a good ubuntu compatible server?

Installation and Upgrades / Configuring ebox jabber
« on: August 12, 2009, 08:13:16 pm »
I've followed all the instructions i can find but cant seem to get the jabber service in 1.2 to work with my clients.
They are stuck in connection mode. I can see that changes i make take effect such as SSL and domain name but i cant get anyone connected. anyone else here has had a similar problem?

Wow its been a long time since i've been on. Im looking to do a fresh install of our server in a couple of weeks. Anyway I've tried both full and config backups with no luck. we dont have many users but it would have been nice to be able migrate them.

recent constant power outages have made me paranoid, while trying to backup my config ebox gets stuck at the dumping samba config files area. samba has stopped wrking properly in ebox showing the process as stopped while the files folders and permission still exist i am unable to create new shares and modify some permissions.

Basically is there a way to Manually backup the ebox samba configs, delete the module and restore them and not have to setup everything from scratch again?

I could backup the files from webmin but ebox will simply overwrite them on next save.

Solved (I think)
by using dc="ebox"  only for the base DN then its a matter of playing with the other values to match want you want
