Installation and Upgrades / No network access after reboot
« on: March 09, 2018, 05:55:19 pm »
Hello,

We recently had the hardware die on a client's server so we transplanted the hard drive to another piece of hardware and got them running.  All is good, except since then, there is no immediate network connection after a reboot.

For example, I installed some updates last night and rebooted the server. It didn't seem to come back up.  I tried periodically to SSH in, unsuccessfully.  I even tried again just a couple minutes prior to calling the client this morning.  I talked one of the users through connecting a monitor and keyboard to the server and right after she did that I was able to remotely access the server and users could access the shars, access the Internet, etc..  When the monitor was plugged in the user reported that it was sitting on the Zentyal login screen, so the server did reboot properly.

Before I transplanted the hard drive to the current hardware, I was able to reboot with no issue.

I have checked the '/etc/network/interfaces' file and 'eth0' is set for "auto" (this was not changed though), but I honestly don't know why the server would have no Internet access after a reboot but plugging a monitor and/or keyboard in would suddenly bring the network connectivity to life.

Any thoughts or ideas greatly appreciated, as I am currently stumped.

Thanks! :-)

Installation and Upgrades / OpenChange on HTTPs
« on: April 10, 2014, 07:20:52 am »
I have Zentyal 3.4 with OpenChange installed.  I cannot seemt o access these services using HTTPs.  The Zentyal server is behind a NAT firewall, with a single NOC operating in "WAN" mode, so RPC Proxy is not giving me any errors.

My configuration is as follows:

Domain: zentyal-lan.local
Internal server name: zentyal.zentyal-lan.local
External Server name: zentyal.oc.mydomain.com  (replaced actual domain with "mydomain" for privacy reasons)

If I try to access the OpenChange webmail (https://zentyal.oc.mydomain.com/SOGo), I get a 404 "Page not found error".  I suspect the RPC Proxy is not running in HTTPs mode, because I tried setting up my Outlook 2007 at home (outside of the network I set the Zentya server up in), and when I try the auto-configuration, it says it cannot make an HTTPs connection.  If I try to manually configure the settings, I get prompted for my user credentials, but it comes back saying my user name could not be resolved to an account on the server.

I am using "zentyal.zentyal-lan.local" as the "Exchange Server", then in the "Outlook Anywhere" or "RPC Settings", I am using "zentyal.oc.mydomain.com" for the server name there.

Any idea/suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks! :-)

Hello,

I have a Zentyal 3.4 server installed.  The server has a single NIC and is behind a NAT firewall.  After enabling RPC Proxy, I was getting an error about RPC Proxy not being able to be used because my domain could not be found.  Some searching around indicated that enabling "WAN" in the interfaces section would resolve the issue, and indeed it does.  However, if I try to access the internet from the Zentyal server, it cannot: I cannot ping either host name or IP address. If I do a 'route -n', there is no default gateway set.  Manually setting a default gateway with 'route add default gw 1.2.3.4' does not resolve the issue.

I changed all incoming firewall settings on the Zentyal server (internal and external) to allow any connection type from anywhere (same as how the outgoing settings are in the firewall), so I do not believe this is a firewall issue.

Am I doing something wrong?  Is there a way to have a single-NIC Zentyal server behind a NAT firewall with RPC Proxy working?

Thanks! :-)
