Have you considered 2 network cards, and having your router/firewall only opening the strictly necessary ports from the internet to the second card?

For Tfo52, as far as I remember:

Generally speaking, a) The Nvidia Mediashield Raid on your mobo only supports Windows and b) Linux can't put grub on a raid 5: you need a separate raid1 partition for it.

Some useful info here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/SoftwareRAID  and here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FakeRaidHowto

If you're lucky and have configured things correctly, you may just need to specify the array name:

- switch terminal - Ctrl+Alt+F2

ls -l /dev/mapper

- check your array name

- switch back - Ctrl+Alt+F1 and input the array name

/dev/mapper/{arrayname}

DNS configurado correctamente?

I have not been able to proceed, but have taken an intermediate step.

I have installed a new Zentyal 6 VM and added it to my present 5.1 domain as additional controller.

This worked correctly, users and computers synchronized with the main controller.

The title is my question.

I have a working Zentyal domain, file sharing service is active with default values but would instead like to map out an existing NAS to my users.

It's a zfs FreeNAS joined to the Zentyal domain, so the users can already reach it with their domain credentials, but I would like to mount a main share (not their home dircetory) automatically when they login.

Any advice/tips/info?

Thanks

You should be using a Windows computer logged on to the domain (with admin rights) to apply NTFS permissions.

Hello,

Small business, about 35 computers.
Single domain, no Windows servers, only 2 Zentyal controllers on 5.1.3
Main domain controller is a dedicated physical server, additional domain controller is a virtual machine.

I was wondering if I can update the additional controller first, and if there's any special procedure.
The idea is that if anything goes wrong I can simply reinstall the VM, and if the upgrade works smoothly I can proceed to updating the main controller.

¿Es tu servidor Zentyal una máquina virtual?

Hello,

Normally - every time a relevant configuration change or update is needed by my 5.1 domain controllers, I save the configuration and download it to a different machine for safekeeping before performing the operation.

I was wondering if there is a chance to launch the config save from the command line, with the idea of scripting periodic backups + file transfers.

Sorry - just saw that the issue was known and could be solved simply:

wget http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/a/apt/libapt-pkg5.0_1.2.29_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg --install --force-downgrade libapt-pkg5.0_1.2.29_amd64.deb

apt-get: relocation error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libapt-private.so.0.0: symbol _ZN9pkgSystem9LockInnerEv, version APTPKG_5.0 not defined in file libapt-pkg.so.5.0 with link time reference

Once you have sorted out the situation, check https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Rsync_based_SysVol_replication_workaround  : the lack of SYSVOL replication is not a Zentyal issue but a basic samba limitation.

Hopefully it will be implemented at some point but that link explains how to configure it manually.
