Installation and Upgrades / Cant join Zentyal server to existing Resara Samba 4 b17 server.

I have a problem when i try to join a Zentyal 3 server to an existing domain. The join will not go through successfully and DNS wont start after this error because it sources a file not created yet, "/etc/bind/named.conf.local:8: open: /var/lib/samba/private/named.conf: file not found"

Seems to be a known bug in Ubuntu 12.04.
Activating a console and doing a :/# dmraid -rE did the trick as it removes any old raid information on the disks.

Yesterday i tried installing Zentyal on two different servers. Both installs failed when setting the disks up. Nothing fancy at all, four disks in SATA mode. Also tried doing raid and setting legacy mode ide in the bios. One of the servers had Ubuntu 12.04 on it before i tried to install Zentyal 3.0-1.

Sorry for the slow reply, been on vacation.
We use two DC. GPO is used. Radius is not a problem for us to solve by ourselves, what we want is to be able to migrate without losing user and machine accounts. The GPOs can be recreated manually if need be.

Hi,
We are just using the smb4 file server (based on alpha17). I have setup radius to use ntlm_auth for wireless connectivity. Printing is done locally from clients to printers, no printserver.

Hello,
As Resara has closed down its operation there is a number of customers like us that need to migrate to something else. We will probably migrate once Zentyal 3 is released, but im thinking of starting earlier with a shadow setup on the side of the current Resara enviroment. Has anyone done a migration, how did it go, what are the pitfalls?
Our enviroment is about 2000+ computers, 15 buildings and 2600 users. Clients mostly laptops.

I increased the number of possible users by using 'olcSizeLimit' , but now the migration tool do not like this. Should i remove it before migration?

Im doing some translating from time to time on Zentyal whenever i have the time. Would be great with a group as i think its very hard to translate many network terms into anything even remotely helpful in Swedish. Either you translate literarely and lose the true meaning of the original or you translate by meaning and nobody recognizes what you mean.

PAE works very well on Linux and has a very small performance hit on 32-bit. On the other hand 64-bit works well so i would personally go for 64-bit unless i had a driver issue with 64-bit.
Edit: I run 64-bit on my Zentyal server with 8GB memory and i have not seen a single issue related to 64-bit.

I have tried a couple of thousands and it seems to work without problems. One thing to note though, you need to change the number of posts ldap handles, i think its 500 default but this post shows how to change it to more:

If you upgrade to the last version of the ebox-usersandgroups package (2.0.10), you can add the name of the group that causes the problem to the /etc/ebox/ad-sync_ignore.groups file and it will be skipped.
I guess i could do that but i would personally prefer to be able to choose what groups to sync instead of specifying all the ones that shouldnt be synced.

Just started tinkering with the Directory Synchronizer on a couple of test boxes and i may have stumbled upon a snag. It seems international characters in Windows group names creates troubles. I can see some stuff being synchronized until it hits a group or user with for eg. åäö in its name. The AD controller is installed with Swedish language.

Just started tinkering with the Directory Synchronizer on a couple of test boxes and i may have stumbled upon a snag. It seems international characters in Windows group names creates troubles. I can see some stuff being synchronized until it hits a group or user with for eg. åäö in its name. The AD controller is installed with Swedish language.

Hej,
Read and write gives you the permission to read, write and delete.
Admin gives you permission to read, write,delete and assign permissions to other users.
In your case the students should only have read rights to the folder you dont want them to be able to delete stuff in.
