Installation and Upgrades / Re: Add new admin to login the web GUI
« on: February 04, 2014, 10:51:22 pm »
ok  I used the standard adduser command;
now I have two more sudo users who can log in the web interface.
now what will happen if I delete the first admin created (installing zentyal)?
If I try to remove it how I go back?

Thanks, that's a great pointer.

One question I have about the configuration of the various services, if I manually configurate some of that using ssh, will the zentyal web gui will retrieve them, or does zentyal remove the configurations on next reboot or what?
and what happens when I make a restore of the configuration from backup?

Installation and Upgrades / Add new admin to login the web GUI
« on: February 04, 2014, 06:27:23 pm »
Ok, so far I have just the user I create installing a fresh Zentyal 3.2 server and I'm using it to login the web interface.
Now I want to add a new user to mantain the server through the web gui, and I need to give me a new user to separate our login.
I read that any user which belongs to the admin group can access to the web gui, but no "admin" groups appear to exist in Zentyal, and my admin user belongs to the following groups: "adm, cdrom, sudo, dip, plugdev, ipadmin, sambashare" (why is there an "adm" group and not an "admin" group?)
I also tried to add one of the users I created through the web gui to the sudo group (I read somewhere I need just that to access the web gui), but can't login as I can't set the password (which is different from the LDAP password I setup on the zentyal server through the web gui) it gives me an error token related.
So the final question is: what I have to do in order to perform this task?
Is there some guide I can read to clear all those doubts about zentyal users, samba users, ldap users and ubuntu users? I'm quite confused.
Thanks.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Restore / Recreate Sysvol

if you can, try to delete all filesharing modules, then reinstall and then reenable, should restore the sysvol.
if you can't access to user samba file, delete them and recreate them. should work.

I realized some time after posting this that since 3.2 I had to include the /home path.
Perhaps it should be stressed that simply adding / WON'T backup everything...
Kudos

Installation and Upgrades / File server backup

It's not clear to me how to perform the backup of the samba shares, as the zentyal backup doesn't make it. Can you explain?

Garfield, just to know, as I never used dpkg, what is supposed to perform --configure -a in this case?

I'm supposing that it's a logon script, but where can I find a tutorial?

Installation and Upgrades / Automatic network drive mount at user login
« on: January 29, 2014, 07:03:07 pm »
I'm not an expert so please bear my newbie question, I want to setup one or more network drives (from Zentyal / samba directories) for each of my users, so for example user1 login on the windows machine and he'll find the network drive (so that he doesn't need to find the network share), and obviously every user network drive should be saved. how to perform this?

thanks God I didn't enable automatic upgrades.
I advise not to do it to all, too many times they break zentyal. Already happened to me.

I'll get a runnable production server, perfectly working, and then, after some BACKUP, i'll MANUALLY upgrade as often as I want.

Installation and Upgrades / Restore / Recreate Sysvol
« on: January 29, 2014, 11:10:10 am »
I'm currently playing with zentyal (no production) so I accidentally deleted the sysvol content (from windows) and problem accessing appeared, so I recreated users and groups on zentyal and sysvol was recreated, I'm afraid there were some mistake / misconfigurations as I can't access to my personal (user) network drive (automounted by samba) H: and windows keeps saying: "denied access". It's the same for all the samba accounts.

Why does it happen and is there a way to restore correctly the sysvol folder (provided it's the problem?)

I understood, that's a user limit based problem and not a share limit. Thanks.
