Installation and Upgrades / Port Forewarding Stopped Working
« on: November 04, 2013, 11:09:45 pm »
I have zentyal installed as a gateway.  There is a cable modem in front of it which is set to bridged so my wan nic "eth1" gets the wan ip from my isp.  Out of nowhere my port forwarding is not working, and my packet filter rules for remote ssh and web admin console are no longer working. I made no changes of any kind to the firewall or anything else, only thing I did was that I shutdown the machine to move it and then powered it back on.

I've attached my port forward rules and packet filter rules.  Again which are simple to say the least.  Why would the firewall start dropping packets?  I tried deleting and recreating all the rules, rebooted the machine etc.  Its like iptables is broken or something.

You put the site.conf in sites available then run sudo a2ensite site.conf which creates a symbolic link in sites enabled.

I don't really understand this...  They mention something about sites enabled "Set in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default"

Do I just add this config info to the conf file or am I replacing something with this?

   DocumentRoot /var/ntop/www
   ScriptAlias /ntop-bin/ /var/ntop/ntop-bin/
   <Directory />
        Options FollowSymLinks
         AllowOverride AuthConfig
   </Directory>

Sorry I am a total noob with apache, I am pretty confused and I do not want to break zentyal

Installation and Upgrades / Adding NBOX to Zentyal Installation
« on: October 15, 2013, 12:31:32 pm »
HI!  I know this is more of a Ubuntu/Apache question, but I'd thought others would benefit if they maybe wanted to install this service/program or add another one to their installation.

Anyway I installed NBOX, which looks really really cool... basically its a webadmin console for ntop and makes it really fancy.  The install is simple enough, however I do not know how to add the site to apache correctly.   At the end of the install they make this comment...

IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT

If you want the nbox to be your default site do:
1. Set in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default
   DocumentRoot /var/ntop/www
   ScriptAlias /ntop-bin/ /var/ntop/ntop-bin/
   <Directory />
        Options FollowSymLinks
         AllowOverride AuthConfig
   </Directory>

2. /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

Now I have moved the login to Zentyal to another port so that I can use the default 443 for NBOX, I found the apache doc but I was hesitant to make any changes and break zentyal.  I will not use the websites that you can configure with the zentyal interface so I do not care about breaking that module.   Does anyone know how to properly edit the default site config document so I can add NBOX as the default webpage?

OR does anyone know how I can add NBOX to apache and I can reach it with a url, like localhost/nbox/

Thanks for helping a linux noob!!

OK so I found a post that shows how to bypass the proxy.

I used clearos for a week (i know i know)  and although I generally hated the software it did have an option in the gui to exclude certain internal clients from using the transparent proxy.  So I know there is a way to do it, but I haven't even found where in the config files I could make additions.  I'm not well versed in squid unfortunately.

Hi!

I am on 3.2.. I see the exceptions for transparent proxy and I have some external url's set like my NZB search engine sites and youtube, but in the documentation I thought I read that was for external domains to bypass, not just excluding an internal client from using the proxy at all.  I want to exclude things like gaming consoles and roku box, etc.   Too much of a hassle figuring out all the urls needed for all the services to run.

Hello again,

New issue that I am currently researching on the squid and Ubuntu forums is how to exclude certain internal clients from using the proxy.  I want to exclude my son's Xbox and PS3.  Is there a way to exclude an internal client from using squid when in transparent mode?  Haven't been able to find how do it it just yet.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Web Interface Slow and Crashed

I bounced the box and then updated everything from the terminal and it looks like we are good to go. I really like the new interface! Very nice and more logical.

Rey-Van, Thank you for providing the correct system log to look into, one of the biggest problems for me when using a new system is finding all the resources that are available for troubleshooting.

Thanks again for your help Christian!  I see a trend here!  :)

Hmm I had thought I had tried that!!  I even tried without spaces...  but alas I put the colons in there and it worked like a charm.  Thats what happens when you play around with things at 3am!

Thanks for all the responses... much more than I thought would get involved, I really appreciate that!!

I messed around via google mania and got the dhcp service to run, its working just fine now.  Took about an hour of reading through ubuntu forums/blogs.

Sorry I posted about two problems at once... Now the static dhcp lease....

I am trying to create an object in the network section, I am adding the correct mac to the correct hostname.  I get an error attached... any ideas?

Installation and Upgrades / DHCP Remains Disabled
« on: October 08, 2013, 03:13:52 am »
DHCP is enabled but the web interface says its not enabled.  I cannot add ranges.  Also the static dhcp does not work, I am entering the correct mac address and I get an error stating incorrect mac address.  So far I am not impressed with this software... basic functionality does not work.
