Title: [SOLVED]Where are the mails?
Post by: MIB on February 09, 2011, 07:32:00 pm
I used SME as a Mailserver. There I used to backup the mails with rsync to another sever.
Worked fine if you had to bring back a deleted mail or a system crash or a broken disk.
I would like to do this system also on the Zentyal system. But with Zentyal I can not find where the mails are located. ??? I do not find the mails in webmin  (E-Mailserver: Postfix ) not anywehre in the home directory.
Can anyone help pelase?
Thanks
MIB

Short answer is: It depends if you're using Zarafa or not.

If yes, then the mail-data is in an mysql-database. If not, they're in /var/mail and /var/vmail.

For more see here (http://forum.zentyal.org/index.php?topic=6052.0) and here. (http://how-to.solheimsvollen.net/HOW-TO_Zentyal_2_Backup_and_Disaster_Recovery.html) (last part of background and/or first part of setup on how to back it up.)

don't forget to check the size of the partition that /var/vmail is on. By default zentyal puts it on the small root partition so if you use imap you can very easily fill the partition.
