Installation and Upgrades / Re: loading users profile

hi atsit
do understand how to do what kurtis has described, create and populate a batch file and allocate the batch file to the user accounts, probably using the ms rsat tools would be the easiest.
be aware if someone then logs on and does not run the batch file they will have the .conf file from the last user which may cause problems.
another thing to try would be to run zoiper.exe from the users u:\ as this may work as it looks like zoiper refers to the .conf file in the current directory.

just had a quick look at zoiper and it appears to store configuration data in .conf files, have a look for these and see what they contain, worse case you could copy these files around on login.

hello and welcome atsit

I'm not familiar with zoiper but do you know where it stores the user credentials, they must be saved somewhere?
have you got roaming profiles working for the xp clients?

same answer as your login.bat post
ie

Hi dan

see http://trac.zentyal.org/wiki/Documentation/Community/Development/singlez and scroll down to the "Editing GPOs and other AD attributes" follow the MS link to the RSAT tools and install (other tools are available if you don't  meet MS licence requirments)
Once AD tools installed you can set policies and add/edit/set the home folder and login.bat from here.
need anymore info?

and with that post I'm now jase the monk, cheers

Hi Ralf

you could try disabling the firewall to prove if it is this, I assume this is not a live server yet and it is also sitting behind the NAT firewall of your adsl router!
The other things I'd read was set the server location to a major city nearest you in the same time zone, I live on a small island and this was causing a problem with the Kerberos syncing as my timezone wasn't recognised, I assume.
The other thing I did was set the Zentyal server ip address as one of the DNS server addresses on the win7 network adapter, this helped as my win7 machine was not finding the zentyal server, if this works it proves your dns setup needs fixing.

your realm name that is listed on the Zentyal file sharing page, general settings tab is definately: SOLARIS.HOME ? not SOLARIS.HOME.LAN or SOLARIS.HOME.Local

just thought the other problems I had, you must set the zentyal server to fixed ip and and your gateway and dns servers on install, I set mine to dhcp, thought I'd set it to a static later but it stopped me joining the domain, this might be fixed now have not tested recently.

also as a side note re the WLAN, some routers allow separation of the wired and wireless networks, yours may offer this feature.

hi Ralf
if i understand you correctly, you are not seeing the domain error or login boxes as in this post http://forum.zentyal.org/index.php/topic,13394.msg55469.html#msg55469
but you do see these boxes when you attach to a domain based on a Zentyal 2.2 box?

hi Ralf

i'm not sure why the  login box is not appearing when you try to join the computer to  the domain, but you must use the Zentyal realm name for the domain name in the windows client.
other things I would try, set windows client to use zentyal box as NTP server, at least check the times are in sync else the login won't work. I've got over  domain attaching errors by setting the zentyal box's ip as a dns server entry on the win7 client.

Hi Ralf
you are joining the domain from the win7 client using the realm name in Zentyal ?
what is the error message you are getting when you try to join the domain, the messages supplied do not look like the normal domain failure message?

hi thorsten

afraid i don't have the answer only the same symtoms on a Zentyal 3.08 test box, i was of the same opinion, would be nicw to know what we are doing wrong but not to worried as i hope to solve it with a netlogon script.

anybody know?

thanks

hi toasty87
as per http://trac.zentyal.org/wiki/Documentation/Community/Development/singlez
'Make sure client time and server time are sync'ed, preferably by setting Zentyal's own NTP server in the clients'

'Now you can join your client to the domain, note that the Kerberos realm is the uppercase version of your provisioned DNS domain'

28
hi toasty87
the "ebox-win7.reg" changes are not needed for samba4, don't worry about these.
can you confirm the Zentyal realm name is the domain name you are trying to connect to from a win7 client,
the zentyal servers ip address is the one previously mentioned and is the one added to the win7 dns
the actual time on the server and win7 client are the same or very close?
if still no joy we'll need to review all network settings and see if we can offer a solution

Installation and Upgrades / Re: install hp microserver n40l
« on: December 27, 2012, 05:10:09 pm »
hello Laszlo
I'm running Zentyal 3 64bit on a  HP Proliant Microserver, it had the 32bit on before, so both versions work. I'm not sure of my exact model though, no markings on the box.
I'm only guessing now, check the cd for defects, it's a menu option on zentyal install menu, I'm saying this as I recently had a cd work fine on the microserver but fail on a proliant ml370 as it was a defective cd
