Installation and Upgrades / Re: No webinterface
« on: December 31, 2007, 02:04:31 pm »
The http redirection to https may lead undesirable problems when another HTTP server is installed and running. For instance, next eBox release will include a simple management for Apache2 HTTP server and the default http port is used to listen to requests.
Best regards and thanks for choosing eBox!

Check out "https://<eBoxIP>/ebox", substituting <eBoxIP> by your own IP.

Check apache is running as well.

You may manually edit "/etc/fstab" file to mount the external USB to a mount point accessible to Samba shares, that is, from "/home/samba" subdirectory.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Add-On: FreeRadius request.

A user contribution created a first attempt to integrate FreeRadius as eBox module [1]. It could be great an enhancement to that initial module.

Hi Willem,

The ebox-webserver package manages Apache2 to do so. This brand new module will be available for 0.12 release.

It will include userdir using LDAP users ;) and virtual hosts.

The configuration for the virtual hosts will have to be done manually.

As usually, every feedback will be welcomed :).

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Web serwer
« on: December 28, 2007, 12:53:19 pm »
Hi,

There's no problem on installing another web server. The method must be the one you choose (deb package from a sarge repository, sources...).

The listening port must be other than the chosen administration port (by default 443) and set your firewall rules to access the web server accordingly.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: S.M.A.R.T. monitoring
« on: December 28, 2007, 09:59:41 am »
That's a great point, the SMART monitoring. We are improving our events scheme currently.

Regarding to the linux RAID, we have already implemented the RAID events in our event architecture in a similar way as mdadm does.

About installing smartmontools, the easiest way is to change the sources.list to add a Sarge repository and then,

Code: [Select]
# apt-get update
# apt-get install smartmontools

Nothing else is required. The sources.list will be overwritten when ebox-software is upgraded.

For sure, Manuel.  ;)

You can register in our translation web application tool [1] to start translating eBox to Portuguese where the job is already started.

After registering, you will receive an email (manually sent). After that, kick off the translation.

Before every release, the translatable strings are updated in eBox trunk code.

Thanks very much baboo!  ;D

The suggested strings have been updated accordingly.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Blocking P2P traffic.
« on: December 26, 2007, 09:31:05 am »
You may only block those P2P protocols which used well-known port/protocol in eBox.

In the future, it's supposed to support the traffic shaping using layer7 in order to find out which p2p protocols are using the network to reduce and limit its consumption.

You have to indicate apache-perl processes to reread the Perl modules. Drastically:

Code: [Select]
# pkill apache

You may go the i18n page [1] to check the English strings if you like ;).

Besides what Javi said above.

The configuration settings are under ' HTTP Proxy'  menu entry:

The subentries are:
 * General: Configure the listening port, the global default filter policy and if the proxy works transparently
 * Objects' Policy: Set the filtering policy for the a group of hosts/nets
 * Filtering settings: Set those domains, extensions and MIME types you may allow or deny explicitily.

Best regards,

I'm afraid these features are not yet implemented by eBox.

I hope to face them soon since they are common feature requests.

You must restart the Apache-perl daemon by invoking this command as root:

$ invoke-rc.d ebox apache restart

Thanks for your reporting this typo.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: How to install webmail on ebox ?
« on: December 20, 2007, 04:55:47 pm »
sixstone :

Ebox is doing all i want except for webmail. Please just let me know how to integrate webmail. I don't want to use a seperate computer for mails and I want users to user the same account log into their workstation and check their mail from any browser on any computer of the network an even from the web.

If i can do that, my problem will be solved. Meaning, if i have a feature to request,  i'll like to see a webmail integrated in futures releases of ebox.
Yeah, it's a common feature request. We may address this in a few months time slot.
