It's a strange problem.
In the folder /var/log/ebox/ some files have as owner:group the root:root and some other ebox:ebox
Which one is right?
In my machine everything works fine when I change the permissions of ebox.log to ebox:ebox
Another strange thing is that the folder itself (/var/log/ebox/) has ebox:adm as user:group owner
Strange ....

What thomas said is correct, but also: sudo apt-get install openvpn (if you don't have it already installed)

And once extracted: sudo openvpn <filename>.conf

Regards,

J. A. Calvo

I also noticed that the conf file must be passed to the command in the current directory. To say it simple, I must cd to the directory where the conf file is and then exec the opnevpn .... I have tried it with the full path, but I had no success

Download, extract, run
What do you mean with 'configure'?
Do you want to change the default settings?

That's the procedure. The default cups.conf (ebox's conf) does not allow external access so you have to do all those things. Maybe the developers should add a field to upload the ppd file, so that we do not have to execute all these steps every time we need to add a new printer.
Anyway, they have done an excellent job so far, and that procedure is not important, comparing with the time we have earned from their job in all other modules.

Did you try the cups gui?

« on: September 26, 2009, 03:04:28 pm »
I think you have to do it by hand. I don't know if it will break anything, but it souldn't as the quotas apply in the filesystem.
A google search for ubuntu - quota, will give you a lot of results.

I think that you must enter one or two commands in terminal.
Anyway. It would be a nice addition if the developers add it in the gui

I also tried http://lightsquid.sourceforge.net/
I think it's better
The installation is just a little harder

Another problem regarding vpn.
I would like ebox to do another one thing based on the below scematic:

mynet <-> VPN <-> EBOX server <-> EBOX nets

How can I add a static route to EBOX server for mynet?
I need this for the Sip protocol, which 'speaks' directly' to mynet's devices

I think I saw it in squid documentation.
Thanks, anyway

Installation and Upgrades / Squid caching exemption
« on: September 19, 2009, 05:12:49 pm »
How can I exempt specific networks or specific IPs from caching?
I have a lot of Ip Cameras in a particular subnetwork, which is different from the Internal Lan.
I have enabled the transparent proxy module, and I see now that all the traffic from the cameras (GBytes) is caching.

The gui allows only domains to exempt from cache.
Thx

Just install.
Then execute only the sarg command without any parameters.
Last, point your browser to http://ip/squid-reports (not https)

Don't forget to open the http port (80), or do whatever else is needed on your firewall

44
Try setting the vpn to a different subnet than 192.168.1.0

I am sure for the above. The vpn network is considered as 'External' network in ebox. I had to add rules to access samba shares, ssh, httpd etc in the section "Filtering rules from external networks to internal networks".
I think that there is a security problem we are forced to add rules to this section to have internal access from the vpn network.
