Wow! That is a very good write-up!

It is also a great argument for getting a Redmine module for Zentyal! There are countless opportunities in this process to go seriously wrong and mess up your server so you have to start by re-installing your server again...

Zentyal team: Please make a Redmine module! It would be good for a lot more than program development.

Yes, I noticed the file in sites-available, that is where I found out that Zentyal is using a non-standard install of Z-push!

The normal installation documentation recommends that you install it in /var/www. Also, I really hate when anything try to take over as default on the server. I never want any special application to be the standard app when accessing the server. I always want whatever I decide. Applications that demand to act as if they were the only apps running on the server will soon be a bigger problem than advantage and gets thrown out. They should install in a subfolder and be accessed that way. They should only appear as the main app for my server if I decide they should be and set it up like that.

My firewall is disabled, so there should be no need to add any rules at all, and on top of that, I am running it as a standalone server, not a router/firewall. But you never know - some things might be blocking still, so I will try to add the port.

BTW - does not using https imply that you have installed a certificate for your server?

Installation and Upgrades / Zarafa, KDE Kontact and Akonadi

KDE have just released v. 4.6 and their PIM package will soon get a new version of the mail package Kmail. This means that most things in the PIM will be based on Akonadi.

There seems to be some people talking about developing an Akonadi resource for Zarafa so that Kontact can communicate directly with it. But I have no idea when that will be finished.

Installation and Upgrades / Zarafa, Z-push and mobile clients

I have been digging a little in the setup, and as far as I can see, Zentyal ships with Z-push, an open source activesync server for mobile units.

I have a standalone Zentyal server, it is not a gateway or connected directly to the internet. There is a firewall that takes care of that part. The firewall in Zentyal has been disabled.

So far, I get no hits on Z-push in the forum. Has anyone tried it? Does it work? I am not able to contact the server even if I have enabled activesync under Groupware.

The information I have found so far says that you need to give your mobile unit the server address. Should this be the whole address as

or is there a different way of giving it?

Is the setup of Z-push in Zentyal complete, or is something missing?

As far as I understand, you should be able to connect with a browser to the above address and actually get an answer with a login. When I try to connect to the above address, it times out. This also happens on my mobile unit.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Good setup for Zentyal + Redmine

There is no incompatibility between Redmine and Zentyal, just follow the usual procedure to install it on Ubuntu Lucid.

I would love to see a module for Zentyal that give us a one click install of Redmine and a few other applications. But Redmine alone would be a great start :-)

Shame on me for not checking through all options!  :-[

I will get to it and start the research as soon as the re-install is done - probably tomorrow.

It would be awsome for us to have at least addressbook sync. I would love it if we could make a common addressbook. But only after the re-install. :-)

Will definitely get back to you on this. If needed, I will talk to both KDE devs and Zarafa devs about it.

Hi Satyris,

No, have not tried it yet. I tried installing MindTouch, a very good looking Wiki system, but it borked my whole server installation and I need to re-install. And while I have had contact with people from MindTouch, the level of helpul communication has been zero. It has been polite, but nobody stepped up and provided any info that could be used. Not even to clean out my system. And after an experience like that, I will never recommend it to anyone else...

But I do want a wiki and preferrable also a way to track issues and development of the websites I do, so I am leaning towards Redmine. I also know that someone inside Zentyal is using/have been using Redmine. It would have been a really cool module :-)

What I was trying to say with all these words - I will get back to this question as soon as my server is re-installed - Probably sometime this week-end.

Velkommen til forumet! (Welcome to the forum).

Judging by the name, you are a Norwegian :-) I hope you will enjoy your testing, and if you have any questions, please post them in the forum.

I Agree, I've made about 5 questions in the last montt, all ofh them has been never replied.
The basic suscription doesn't work either, the subscription is forever in "pending" state...

Yes, you have made some requests since you signed on here. Only two of them are in English, and one of them is a question about something totally different than Zentyal. I am Norwegian, I speak English and a bit of Portuguese, but unfortunately no Spanish.

The other question is about different name for domain and workgroup in the same samba setup. In the Zentyal interface, there is only one field for it. If it can be done hacking config files, it will most likely be overwritten on an update. But as I do not know if it is even technically possible, I could not say for sure.

And this is most likely the reason why nobody has answered you. Simply because they do not have time or they do not know. This is a community forum where the community helps each other. The fact that several developers spend time here in the forum is a big plus, but they are not obligated to do so. We are using a product they have spent time and money making, and we can get it for free. If you or anyone else do not have time to wait for the community to solve the problem, then it must be a critical installation. And then there is money to pay for priority support.

Regarding your Windows 2003 Server: Is it possible on that server to have both a domain and a workgroup on the same server with different names?

Another reason why you might not see too much developer activity right now is that they might be on holidy. They have worked day and night the last months to get v. 2.0 out and I really think they deserve a break now :-)

To all others that have bugs to report:

Please add all you bugs here:

Also - be sure to add all information. Take a look at the link in my signature - the same info goes for bugreports. And some more if you are able!

The forum is not for reporting bugs. As soon as you think it really is a bug, and not just a configuration problem or a user problem, it is time to add it to the bug tracker or, if it already exists, add your experience to the right ticket.

Several days have passed, and no solutions from the forum.

No solution via irc and no solution via online chat.

I re-booted the server, and got MindTouch running. It looks good, the editor works as advertised

It has hi-jacked the webserver and it is now not possible to get Zarafa up. Whatever address I type, I get MindTouch.

On irc, they recommended to run MindTouch on a separate virtual domain or in a VM. Seems like it is not playing well with other software.

Another BIG no-no for a lot of people is that it installs Mono as part of the package.

All in all: I am looking at how to get it off the server. Luckily, my server has not been used for much since last re-install so I am thinking about downloading the new ISO and do a complete re-install. Would probably be faster :-)

So the search for a good wiki with a wysiwyg editor goes on...

That mean it is safe to say that at this moment, the feature you are asking for do not exist. Please add this as a feature request.

I did not dispute if it was reasonable or not :-)

My question was (and is) simply: Did you submit this to the bugtracker?

The reason is simple. The bugtracker is the place for everything that looks like a bug. So you enter it there and it will get into the queue to be looked at. Just make sure you have done everything possible for others to confirm the bug. Describe the steps, also remember to describe what else you might have installed on the server.

I do not know how long they plan on supporting the 1.4.x version as the 2.0 version is just days away. There will probably be a lot of people still running the 1.4.x version for quite some time, so your report will be important to them.

Thank you very much for this description! I am going to try something like this at home :-) Did you connect the system to the regular phone system in any way? I am thinking about taking our single analog line and connect it somehow to the server.

Could you please add [SOLVED] to the beginning of the subject of your first post in this thread? This makes it easier for people searching for solutions.
