Javi:
My main problem is:
Quote
Is your suggestion here to use the source files under <trunk>  to create from scratch an ebuild?  If so, I have no where near the experience to prepare ebuilds for the portage system.
Are there ready scripts for making the ebuild, or do I have to write those myself also?
Is there a guide explaining any of this?

Hi Javi & thanks for the quick reply.

1- Under http://svn.ebox-platform.com/ebox-platform/ you have <trunk-tags-scripts-buildbot-branches>.  Do I need anything other than the trunk files (like buildbot or something)?  What does your svn page mean by "last revision" as opposed to just <client +  common>
2- Under trunk sub-dir, you have extra-->live cd & installer, but these explain what to do on deb systems.  I am thinking that all I need are under the <client-common-server> directories, and under client I should download only the modules I want to use, then proceed with ./configure for each sub-dir?  Is the command sequence (./configure-make-make install) is the same process for trunk sources?
3- Under client there are a lot of new modules which were not in the tar.gz repository.  Is there a list explaining which module is for what purrpose?
4-  What can you advise about the USE Flags question - will the euse or emerge -vp switch show the necessary use flags?

Anxiously awaiting, polsas

<EDIT2>
It turns out, this is not necessary.  Install layman on your system, configure the app to your preferences, go to http://code.google.com/p/gentoo-ebox-platform/  and follow the instructions there (just copy - paste).  When the download completes, run "emerge -av ebox".
Right now there is a bug however, which will be solved shortly - portage complains with <"there are no ebuilds to satisfy "perl-gcpan/Apache-Singleton">.  You guys at ebox know anything about this??

Hi Saied.  I am trying to build ebox on gentoo also, but having problems from the very start with the ./configure stage.
http://forum.ebox-platform.com/index.php?topic=1042.msg4008#msg4008
Can you take a look and tell me how to compile this?
Also is the box working now, since almost 2 months since you posted the problem?  If it is working, are you happy with the package performance or did you switch to other packages?  Thanks & regards

Have a brand new gentoo server box & the ease of admining the ebox system appeals to me so I decided to give the source codes a try.  For most of the modules (under each directory) the ./configure command terminates with gconftool error.  Googleing shows this to be a part of gnome desktop?  The server will not have a GUI, that's the whole point of ebox anyway.
The configure command on libebox module terminates with:
checking for perl module Log::Dispatch...no
configure: error: missing Log::Dispatch

The second problem with your package on gentoo is that you do not specify any "USE Flags" info for the modules.  Is there another way to find out which use flags, or is your package dead-set on Ubuntu-only solutions?
