Installation and Upgrades / Installation Woes

After completing an install, the installer tells me to eject the disk so that it can complete the reboot. However, after rebooting, I'm asked for the disk again. When it is provided, nothing really happens. I can't get the install to complete.
Any ideas?

I have the jabber server running on my EBOX but I am having difficulty knowing how to set up my client. I have Pidgin.
Can anyone give me pointers on this? Nothing seems to be working.
