Installation and Upgrades / Permissions of shared folders
« on: April 23, 2014, 02:23:02 pm »
Hy,

I have an urgent issue that I can't figure out. Zentyal 3.4 is installed and working nicely. I've set up a group with a few users and made a shared folder (inside "Users and groups" menu, not "File Shares") for the group where the members can write. I've added a new user to that group. The user can create folders and files, also can copy there. But to modify the existing files or move them he has no permission. Any advice?

Installation and Upgrades / Sharing calendar without Zarafa
« on: April 09, 2014, 10:24:24 am »
Good day Gentlemen,

I have a small server for the office about 50 peronel. I've set up a simple AD server with Zentyal and shared folders are working as well. I would like to create a shared folder for each group, user, whatever. Normally ( on Windows ) I would install WebDAV server, put an ics file there and make it accessable for all the users. It used to work like a charm. In Zentyal currently what I'M trying is to make a shared folder allowing guests as well, but in Thunderbird I can't add the path of the shared folder since it acceps only http:// or ftp:// .... no problem, let's et up an FTP server on Zentyal. Made it, got the folder, got the file, but Thunderbird is always screaming for permission problems. It can'T modify the file. Any tipps please?

Hy there,

So my setup is the following in brief:
1 router -> one cisco switch -> ~50 client PC. Mostly Win7, I would like to install Zentyal on one PC to act as an Active Directory server with users, user shares and shared folders. For now, this is all that I want.

My issue is the following:
The PC has only 1 ethernet plugin ( and unfortunatelly can't upgrade it, to 2 ). During the installation when I come to the part where I have to select the network interfaces type, if I select internal, I recieve the IP address but no internet connection and clients can't connect to the server. If I select the external I have internet on the server, but clients still can't recognise the domain. They just say "Could find the domain... etc".

My question:
What do I need to setup (even from the beginning, that would be the best ) on the servers / clients to make them able to connect to the AD server.

What I can't do:
Can't put the server between the router and the switch
Can't use the server as DHCP, router must stay.

Hy guys,

I have a question that is bothering me. I'm using the latest Zentyal and trieing to install a virtual machine.

I set it up nicely and when I start to boot it up ( for example trieing to install Ubuntu ) I notice that in Chrome I can't use the keyboard. I can click on buttons but that's all. On firefox the same happens. But on Konqueror I can use the keyboard, but not the mouse! Opera just can't handle any of them, it doesn't even have a picture. Cal you please tell me what could possibly wrong?

ATM I have no chance to test it with IE and it doesn't matter for the server what type of OS am I trieing to run on it.

Oh, and another problem. Windows 7 keeps telling me that there is no HDD in the (virtual) computer. It can't find any driver for it. Waiting for your sollutions or tipps.

Thanks in advance!

Hello there,

I have a problem with seting up SSMTP and SIMAP on my Zentyal server. On the clients we have Thunderbird, and whenever I want to connect it to the server, it sais "couldn't find server settings" ( or something similar, sorry my thunderbird is in Hungarian language ). However, if I enable simple IMAP and SMTP in Mail or in Groupware, then it is OK, but I need the secured channels for my mail server ( I remove simple IMAP and SMTP always and allow only Secured IMAP + Secured SMTP in mail). Something with the firewall maybe? Am I setting the server up wrong or the Thunderbird is set up badly? I need the 465 and the 585 ports?

Thank you for your answers in advance.

Bert

Magyar / Secure IMAP és Secure SMTP nem működik [MEGOLDVA]
« on: May 17, 2013, 10:26:31 am »

Imi

Installation and Upgrades / Jabber + Thunderbird + Cert
« on: March 05, 2013, 01:01:36 pm »
Hello Guys,

I'm currently trying to set up a nice mail server with groupware, firewall, cert, etc, etc. Currently what works is the AD, webmail. ( I'm at the begining yet)
I just tried to set jabber up and working. On the clients I use Thunderbird and for XMPP chat I installed "Additional chat protocols for thunderbird" and Pidgin just to make sure. Currently the users are allowed to use Jabber. I set up Jabber to use SSL and when  I try to connect with Thunderbird I get the following error: "The owner of the certificaion makred as non-thrusted" ( maybe not the exact same message, I use a differend language ). How could I deploy the cert to the clients automaticly and make Thunderbird to accept it as thrusted? Is this the only problem what I've done?

Please ask me more if I didn't tell you all information for this problem.

Thank you in advance.

Best Regards:
Imre Bertalan

Installation and Upgrades / Joining Zentyal with Ubuntu
« on: April 07, 2012, 09:10:03 pm »
Hello there,

I've a problem and I need your help.

I have a Zentyal 2.2 server with DNS, FileShare, Users&Groups ... Made a DNS called "zenwork". The comuters name is "zen" and the IP address is recieved from a DHCP server. Made 3 users, one of them with Administrative rights.
I have Ubuntu and Windows clients in the network, who also recieves their IP addresses from the DHCP server. The Windows clients can join the "zenwork" domain with no problem with the administrative user.
On Ubuntu 11.10 I don't know how to jin the domain. Tried Likewise with no luck.
/etc/resolve.conf
nameserver 192.168.56.103
search zenwork

/etc/nsswitch.conf
passwd: files ldap lsass
group: files ldap lsass
shadow: files ldap lsass
...
...

The Zentyal on the LDAP site sais:
Base DN: dc=zen
Root DN: cn=ebox,dc=zen

My goal is:
At the Ubuntu startup, when login screen appears I want the network users to be able to log in without being created on the client computer.
