Installation and Upgrades / Computers are can no longer login to PDC
« on: March 01, 2010, 01:36:54 am »
What a horrible weekend.  I run ebox on a law enforcement agency since the budget for equipment is low.  It's been running fine, except for a month ago when I tried (and failed) to upgrade from 1.0 to 1.2 (before I was told Ebox didn't support this).

I ran into all kinds of problems yesterday and was messing with ebox for 14 hours and managed to remove all the users out of the system.  I tried to import the .ldif file but it complained about hash passwords, and I emailed Ebox hoping to paid support but nobody answered me.  So, I manually readded the users but now the computers won't connect and they pop and error about the computer account is missing from the primary domain controller.

How can I manually add these computers to ebox?  I have the ldif file...can I simply run slapcat and manually add the computers from the ldif file and then import the ldif?  I don't want to loose everything I did yesterday (readding 30 users sucks manually sucks).

I really wish someone from Ebox would be around to help, I would have gladly paid a stupid amount of money yesterday.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Several issues with 1.2

1.2 was in fact a major release from the company point of view because it was the first version ready for partners. So it was a kind of start from the scratch but offering professional training and support.

We also hope to support 1.4 -> 2.0 without problems.

Can I upgrade from 1.2 - 1.3 or is that not supported either?

I'm _still_ struggling with ebox.  I've ended up some how wiping the users out of the system so I'm trying to restore from a ebox-backup .tar file.  I've ran the ebox-restore-backup which throws this:
The supplied user password is already hashed, you must supply an additional password list

I've tried to manually run import-from-ldif and I get the same error.

Nothing in the forums provides anything useful about this error, or how to fix it.

I ended up restarting slapd and then ran ebox-mailfilter-ldap update.  That error went away, but users aren't able to login with dovecot.  It appears (?) that the passwords are no longer valid.  If I reset the password to an account it works....

I'm still not having any luck with this problem.  I removed ebox-usersandgroups and reinstalled it, then installed ebox-samba.  When I try to reinstall ebox-mailfilter I get this error:

What eBox version did you have installed before 1.2? We never officially supported upgrades from 1.0 to 1.2. However, now we want to support the upgrades from 1.2 to 1.4.

I wasn't aware that 1.0 -> 1.2 wasn't supported considering the low version numbering.  I would expect some issues in a large major release (1.0 -> 2.0).

According to Ubuntu Hardy the packages were versioned 0.11.99

I upgraded from what was in Hardy to the 1.2 PPA.

Where did you upgrade from?  1.0?

0.11.99

After the upgrade to 1.2....and still have several unresolved issues:

Today I noticed this in the error.log, which has shown up 139889 times:

Also when saving modules I get this:

Hello all,

I have resolved this by simply removing ebox-usersandgroups and reinstalling.  This will also force you to uninstall ebox-samba and other modules.  Just re-install all of them.

As for mail: I've never used ebox for mail purposes so didn't have any such problems.

Would I run the risk of losing any account information if I do this?

11
I have the same issue (http://forum.ebox-platform.com/index.php?topic=2611.0).  Have you resolved this yet?

The 1.0 -> 1.2 upgrade was pretty horrible.  Did you have problems with the mail virtual host being deleted and all the email being removed for that vhost?

Installation and Upgrades / A really nasty bug has occurred

I upgraded from what was in Hardy to the 1.2 PPA.  Really, really bad things happened (the virtual email host was deleted and all accounts in /var/vmail/virtualhost were deleted, anti-virus was broken, etc..).  I have most of these problems resolved now but this remains:

When I add a user I get this error:

I noticed that gconf2 was upgraded recently.  Would that have any known issues?
