We have noticed that when Zentyal using active  domain controller, it do not read values from the sub organizational OU , for eg if I have computer name in the sub OU of active directory Zentyal does not read it and display.
Please add this feature of reading computer names from the sub organization unit

Hi Mohideen
This is what I am thinking. Since none of your computers are showing in Zentyal, it may be because there is no entry for that computer  in the Zentyal.
I have suggestion,
Can you please test for few PC, discontinue it from the domain, and rejoin it back to the domain, may be it will wok then
can you please try to shutdown the active directory server, then take some PC, move out from the domain and rejoin the domain

Hi All,
I am trying out Zentyal 5.0.10 community edition, where I have a windows primary domain controller and windows backup domain controller.
I tried to join as backup domain controller.
When I was going through the log files, I am seeing information
root@pi-svr-dc:/var/log/samba# cat log.backup.srv-adc
[2018/01/31 08:43:52.905413,  0] ../source3/param/loadparm.c:3322(process_usershare_file)

Like to know why I am getting such message for the windows backup domain controller

Hi All,
The problem got resolved.
Actually it was not issue of the CE or EE. It was based on the domain I gave, since it was testing I was using different names like

Now wherever I was using the "test.local", the issue was caused by the DNS resolution mechanism for local, I did not notice that I am using test.lan for EE and test.local for CE and we were trouble shooting, at last we found the reason

Posting my experience here so that thread is updated on what happened

Hi All,
I am trying to mount a NFS share to the zentyal machine,
from command line, it gets mounted when I given the mount commands, after cross checking it is working fine ( i testing by writing some files after mounting it)
Now I edited /etc/fstab
Quote    /fileserver   nfs acl,nofail,noatime,nolock,intr,tcp,actimeo=1800 0 0

it does not mount it automatically once the system boot
I have to manually mount it using the command line.

it is same in CE and EE

I like to update:-
In the same network environment, I tried with  enterprise edition, it works fine. names get resolved, linux machines get joined to domain, works perfectly

But with CE, after editing the resolv.conf , the zentyal machine do not get resolved, for that reason it wont join the domain.
Hope the developers take note of my post

Hi All,
A couple of days back, I have connected my Debian,Ubuntu(different versions), Centos to Zentyal doman controller.
This I have done at my home.

Now in my friends office, tried out with the latest CE. Edited the client machiens /etc/resolv.conf to reflect the zentyal server. Now I have my CentOS machine gets reply when pinging hostname of the zentyal server, while none of the debian based machines hostname is not getting resolved, I would like to mention that there is entry for zenyal server in the /etc/resolv.conf file.

This is wierd, why CentOS works, but not the deb based systems

Today I tried with the latest ISO downloaded
Advice and guidance requested

 :) :) :)
It is working now,
I do not know why it was earlier attempt working.
Since it was evaluation test, I formated it and did it again.
I have tested it for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS , Ubuntu 17.10, Debian 9
Now going to try for CentOS versions also
 :) :) :) :) :)

I am using the latest CE of Zentyal
I was able to add  my Ubuntu machine to Zentyal DC, using the tool from  “pbis-open”
after joining the domain, when I try to give
su – test.lan\\john
from the newely joined Ubuntu machine, I get the message
su: Authentication failure.

But when I check the log in the Zentyal machine, I see the login success
the log files post at the link

From the log we can see, it is terminating the connection, and there is port also mentioning about ports 50334, 52657, 33070 , 58946 mentioned in the log from the ubuntu machine (IP

Guidance and advice requested

Now I did with gui, I had to install some dependency
using the GUI I was able to add my ubuntu machine to the zetyal DC

I did by now lots of time, mostly with freshly installed Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, no luck.
I do not know where I am going wrong, or is it the issue of the OS itself. I am not sure

I am going now to do the same using Debian,  will update the status

HI All,
Other than editing /etc/hosts file, how could I add some PC information ( hostname and IP ) to the DNS server, so that We can ping my clients host name  from the server prompt

Advice requested

the log file shows that
itsupport@saji:~$ tail -f /var/log/pbis-open-install.log

Success: /bin/systemctl start lwsmd.service

Error: mv /var/lib/likewise /var/lib/likewise.old returned 1  (ignoring and continuing)
mv: cannot stat '/var/lib/likewise': No such file or directory

Success: rm -rf /var/lib/pbis-upgrade
Package: PowerBroker Identity Services Open postinstall finished

Guidance and advice requested

Resolved.Everything below was done on client:

1) installed pbis-open

2) added into /etc/network/interfaces
Code: [Select]
dns-domain di.lan
dns-search di.lan

3) used this command
Code: [Select]
sudo domainjoin-cli join --disable ssh DI.LAN login@DI.LAN

I am trying with
 sudo domainjoin-cli join --disable ssh TEST.LOCAL administrator@TEST.LOCAL
Joining to AD Domain:   TEST.LOCAL
With Computer DNS Name: ubuntu-16-04.test.local

administrator@TEST.LOCAL's password:
