Installation and Upgrades / Re: Primary Domain Controller / Backup domain controller and PDC Simulation
« on: November 23, 2015, 05:38:01 am »Hello. It looks that upgrading to Zentyal 4.2 (the one with samba 4.3 ) is your only option left
4.2 is still under development, it might have other few if not several bugs to fix.

« on: November 17, 2015, 09:18:48 am »What version of Samba are you using?
sudo samba -V
If your Samba version is less than 4.3.1 demotion and promotion doesn't work properly because two FSMO roles get left behind.
I believe this was fixed in Samba 4.3.0 .
Zentyal 4.2.1 uses 4.3.1 .
Hey im with Zentyal 4.0
my samba is Version 4.1.17-Zentyal
do you have a recommendation for the next step to take?

I have followed this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDJR0NGeHpY
it says migration was all successful, but when I switch it to be the 'Domain controller' all data is gone again.

Have you tried doing a clean install of everything? That error could be a conflict with a running ubuntu service or configurations
have you looked at the contents of Ex9dycF1A4.cmd ?

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Webserver will not start even after reboot
« on: November 11, 2015, 12:02:31 pm »I am using Zentyal 3.0 and everything has been working great up until about 2 weeks ago when suddenly webmail stopped working. I see that webserver is not running which I assume is why webmail is not accessible. I am using roundcube as my webmail server. I do not see anything in /var/log/zentyal/* that points to the issue. Anyone else have this issue? Any thoughts on where else I can look for errors?
were you able to find the problem and solved it?
anyway, was this really sudden? or could you have updated some configuration / updated a package. Or someone could have deliberately altered the server config?

Installation and Upgrades / Primary Domain Controller / Backup domain controller and PDC Simulation
« on: November 11, 2015, 11:45:29 am »
Hello Guys!
I've got a problem and confusion on this process. Basically here is my setup
PDC = testdomain.lan / 10.10.11.23 / Float IP: 10.10.11.21
BDC = testdomain.lan / 10.10.11.77 / Float IP: 10.10.11.21
Domain data is synchronized Okay. High availability just works fine, Floating IP just works fine. Domain Authentication works fine. Sharing works just fine. DNS resolution works fine.
PROBLEM Simulation:
PDC complete failure... so I have to make the BDC to be made PDC, however doing this will lose all the users/computers data. Why is that so?
My mission is to make BDC to be a PDC, so I can add another BDC in case this promoted PDC will fail also in the future. But I keep on losing the domain data.
*What am I doing wrong?
*What should I be doing right?
*Do I need to use the backup/restore config on this issue?

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Backup Configuration
« on: March 06, 2014, 12:57:34 pm »I saw this as well when I created my first backup.
I think you have to specifically add included directories.
I added /home ; /etc ; /srv ; /var/www ; /var/lib/zarafa to my backups
are these the important folders for a zentyal server dedicated for running Email Services? (Zarafa, postfix, etc.)
im still a bit newbie with linux, still learning...
my only entries in Includes and Excludes are the following:
exclude /dev
exclude /mnt
when I try include / it refuses to do so with this error >> '/' is a invalid value for includes. Files in '/' are included if they are not excluded first.

Installation and Upgrades / Backup Configuration
« on: March 05, 2014, 02:28:54 am »
Hi guys,
I just would like to clarify what the Backup really do?
does it only back up the Configuration? or it does a full backup image of the current system? or both?
As i have seen, the backups made into my backup drive are just small files with less than 100kb sizes.
Details of config:
File system backup
no encryption
full backup frequency is Weekly on Sunday
Incremental Backup is Daily @ 03:00 hours
Max Number of copies is 5

Hey! thanks for that explanation.
however, I just came to that kind of conclusion, because when I send an email to my own email address from my own account (using Zarafa), i actually can see the email popping out from my zarafa's inbox but not in webmail. can you enlighten me?

Hi guys!
Im running Zentyal 3.2 and im planning to run it as full stand alone Email server.
currently i have configured Webmail (built-in email for zentyal) and Zarafa (Groupware)
I understand these two email boxes have their own respective databases.
Just a noob question....
Where does email received from the internet would actually go? im puzzled, do i have to set something? or what I may be missing. hope you guys can enlighten me more.
the server is not actually up on the wild internet yet, so i dont know whats gunna happen. im still working it out.
