This can have an impact on Zentyal too.
If it becomes a commercial software with open source code, I can hardly imagine it as a competitor or replacement for Exchange.

Hi to all,

what is going on with Zentyal ? The latest community news is from October 2015 ? Openchange is even worse, the latest news is from May 2015 ?

It would be nice to get some information regarding the project state and the future of it.
It would be even better to see some progress and happenings.

This silence, is not good at all.

I doubt in Zentyal's future as a open source project. All those decisions about dropping modules is leading to one direction - profit.
They are leaving the goal to be an SBS replacement. Dropping functionality like fetching emails from external providers or backup makes no sense.
Why should fetching emails from external providers not be dropped:

1.) it is a feature of MS Exchange server and is very often used , leaving this out means that Zentyal is not able to become a drop in replacement for MS Exchange
2.) big external providers do care about all the emails - antispam antivirus, so they do a god job and there is less for you to do
3.) you can leave emails on providers server so the email is reachable through providers webmail and other software - very often the situation

I have been using Zentyal for years now. Every year I was more and more impressed on Zentyal's progress and new features.
Zentyal was always the first thing I would recommend to others.
After bringing Openchange on board, I was excited and could not wait to get it testet.
But, after bringing Openchange on board, unfortunately Zentyal started to change.

And now this, dropping the Gateway functionality, Backup, free account, Radius, Web server.... this is just not acceptable, not for me.
So, my dear Julien Kerihuel, on Your presentation You mentioned  a method called: French Caffe. Accordding to that method, You can now observe, how the community reacts on this provocative road map [let us call it an error] !
For me, I just can say, back to ClearOS as a replacement for SBS.

I dont know shit about this but have you been reading http://doc.zentyal.org/en/openchange.html mabey you find the answer there.

Yeah, I have been through this. Anyway, thank You for the try.

Yes, I'm familiar with this. And the confusing thing is: It does not say anything about Shared Addressbook. This means, shared addressbook should work. But it doesn't. Openchange crashes and Outlook can not subscribe to shared Addressbook.

This is the reason I asked for help. It could be that I have missed something or doing something wrong.
Can someone bring some light into this subject ?!!

Is there any way to share addressbooks, calenda or addresslists in comapny domain and use it in Outlook 2003/2007 ?
It works in sogo webmail, but Outlook does not show shared and subsribed addressbooks nor calendars ?
This is very common scenario in comanies which use MS Exchange tech.
How to do this with openchange ?

It would be nice if someone could at least reply and provide some info.

I would appreciate if someone could reply to my questions:

Is it possible to use shared addressbooks and calendar in Outlook 2003/2007 when using Openchange ?
If YES, then how to (form it works only in sogo webmail, outlook  does not show shared/subsribed addressbooks) ?

If NO, is it going to be implemented in further releases ?

9
I have the same issue. Can not create public folder in Outlook 2007.
Can not share contacts nor calendars in Oultook 2007.
Is anyone using these functionalities ? Is there any guide on how to set this up ?
Please advise.

10
Can anyone at least answer if shared contacts and calendars are supported in Outlook when using Openchange ? ? ?

Hi,

is it possibke to use shared addressbooks and calendars in Zentyal and Openchange ? This is common setup in MS Exchange environment and very often in real life.
Is there any way to have an addressbook or calendar which all domain(openchange) accounts can use in Outlook ?
I see that it works only in SOGo webmail, but with Outlook I can not get it to work.
If I try to add a shared addressbook in Outlook (Open Shared Contacts) I get this error when selecting the account which has shared its contacts or calendar:

This error occurs when you attempt to open the mailbox for a user who is not part of your Exchange Server organization (either not part of your network, is external to your company, or is part of a segment of your e-mail server configuration that is not trusted by your segment).
It is not possible for an e-mail user to see the mailbox of another user if their e-mail server is not configured to communicate and provide permissions between the two systems. Contact your server administrator for assistance.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Openchange and Migration
« on: April 17, 2014, 01:23:41 pm »
Configured Zentyal like it is supposed to work. OpenChange works. When I do the migrate, I get the mkdir error. Using the debug command you provided, the error change to:
Error connecting to remote server. MapiLogonProvider: MAPI_E_NETWORK_ERROR

In SSH, I see:
Preparing Profile Store at /root/.openchange/profiles.ldb
Initialising Profile Store at /root/.openchange/profiles.ldf... and it stops there.

And looking in the migration log, I see:
Using binding ncacn_ip_tcp:127.0.0.1
Mapped to DCERPC endpoint 135
added interface eth0 ip=10.20.30.20 bcast=10.20.30.255 netmask=255.255.255.0

Failed to connect to remote server: ncan_ip_tcp:127.0.0.1[] NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED

I can telnet on port 135

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Try to set hostname entries in /etc/hosts for the windows server for example 192.168.0.100 winserver1.mydomain.lan winserver1

Because the MIGRATE MAILBOX function DOES NOT WORK !!!
I was thinking, OK, then I will try to export an account from  Windows Exchange SBS Server by using Outlook. After that my intention was to IMPORT the PST file using Outlook into OPENCHANGE.
And, what happened ??  Samba CRASHED, and CRASHED, and CRASHED, and CRASHED .....
It is crashing every time Outlok tries to connect to exchange. So I had to reinstall the Zentyal server (for the 99-th time in the last few months).

So, I see no way to import existing accounts to Zentyal so called "MS Exchange Replacement" !
Openchange is the WORST IMPLEMENTED feature of Zentyal I have ever tried and have ever used in the last few years !!!

14
I'm experiencing the same behaviour !  I have tried to import the PST file using Outlook into OPENCHANGE.
And, what happened ??  Samba CRASHED, and CRASHED, and CRASHED, and CRASHED ..... Had to reinstall zentyal.

Bug over Bug, over BUG, over BUG.

15
Is there anybody who has successfully imported Mailboxes from Exchange 2003 to Zentyal 3.4.x ???
Any shell commands or scripts to make the import manually ??

PS: a REAL replacement solution for MS Exchange should SUPPORT Mailbox migration !!!
