News and Announcements / Re: Usage of eBox Platform
« on: August 24, 2009, 11:49:02 pm »
Hi,
I am now using ebox 1.0 as a domain controller in our organization. The server hardware is a low-power single-core Intel Atom platform. Currently it serves 30 users on 22 client workstations and laptops running Windows XP and Vista and it does the job of replacing our Win2K Server perfectly!  :)

best,

Hi,

I just wanted to add that the solutions posted solved all my issues.
However, when the system is updated via apt-get, the above mentioned files need to be adjusted again.

thanks to all,
mustafa

Hi,

this is really odd... I tried your suggestions, but the problem remained. Home drive is still mapped to H: and the logon script didn't run.
I then did a complete reinstall of ebox and configured the files before starting SAMBA. SMB.conf is generated normally and contains all information (drive letter Z:, script path etc). I set up a new domain and tried different clients, all map the home drive to H: instead of Z:. The script doesn't run either. I think it's really strange because I can find no reference to the drive-letter H: in any conf-file; where does it get that from?. I wonder if maybe I am missing something totally basic here  ???

Hi,
this is my first post; I just registered here because I am trying to setup an ebox based domain-controller for ~20 clients.
I have done a lot of reading in this forum, but there's a few things I can not seem to figure out by myself  :(

I am having the following issues:

1. I can not change the drive letter of the logon drive. I modifed SMB.conf as well as /usr/share/ebox/stubs/samba/smb.conf.mas and /usr/share/ebox/stubs/samba/smbldap.conf.mas. The clients still mount the home drive on letter H:.
2. logon scripts are not executed on the clients. I know there's some threads on this already, but I still couldn't get it to work. I tried the [netlogon] share as well as the /home/samba/"username" as source folder for the scripts.

I would be really glad if anyone could help me here and maybe have a look at my configuration files if I messed something up there.

Thanks a lot in advance!!
