Installation and Upgrades / problem with proxy network configuration installing zentyal 5.0

i downloaded the last zentyal 5.0 stable iso and installed it on a kvm virtual machine.
the installer does not properly configured the network.
my network is under a proxy but the installer didn't ask me anything about proxy settings.
the installer was stuck at apt configuration step.
i had to manually kill the running apt processes to be able to return to the debconf configuration main menu.
from there i manually reconfigured the network and i was able to successfully complete the installation process.

Installation and Upgrades / office package installation fails

i tried a fresh installation of zentyal 3.0
after the reboot, before configuring zentyal i updated the ubuntu system and rebooted, to install all the new zentyal package before the first zentyal configuration.
then i selected the office package.
during the wizard network setup i configured the PDC DNS server as nameserver for the zentyal box
the wizard automatically picked up my AD domain name (csc.it) and proposed it to me. i let this unchanged.
i've followed all the installation process, tailing /var/log/zentyal/zentyal.log and i will report it here at the end of the post, only from the office package starting point, because the forum limits the maximum post lenght to 20000 character; anyway i didn't found any error before that point.
Any suggestions?

Installation and Upgrades / Problems adding zentyal as additional domain controller

i'm using zentyal 3.0
i've encountered a lot of problem, because the documentation is not so clear, so if there is some 'step by step' how-to or tutorial around here, pleas let me know, i was unable to found more information.
anyway, these are the steps i followed, trying to figure what to do, reading /var/log/zentyal/zentyal.log (and the other logs)
i started with a base zentyal install, this is the list of the installed zentyal packages before samba installation
my AD domainis is dc=csc,dc=it
my domain controller is cscs1.csc.it
the zentyal box name is cscs.csc.it
the zentyal ldap configuration is:
in the DNS module settings i configured my PDC ip address as DNS forwarder and i mapped the PDC ip address 192.168.153.200 to hosts list in 'csc.it' domain.
doing this i managed to install the "File Sharing and Domain Services" module without errors.
then i configured the file sharing setting with this data:
Server Role: Additiona Domain Controller
Realm: CSC.IT
Domain controller FQDN: cscs1.csc.it
Domain DNS server IP: 192.168.153.200
Administrator account: administrator
Administrator password: **********
NetBIOS domain name: CSC
NetBIOS computer name: cscs
Server description: Zentyal File Server
at this point i was able to query the PDC ldap server with this command:
ldapsearch -H ldap://cscs1.csc.it -b dc=csc,dc=it -x
but if i try to activate the file sharing module i receive this error from the web interface:
and from the zentyal.log file i read this:
i tryed to query the ldap server with my credential, but this raised this error:
i goggled to found that is error is due to a missing library, so i installed libsasl2-modules-gssapi-heimdal
after this, trying to query the AD i get this is the error:
it seems that kerberos is not inizialized:
i'm not a kerberos or ldap expert, so at this point, to not interfer with zentyal packages management i prefer to stop my debug work and i hope in some help from the community to solve my problems

my domain controller is cscs1.csc.it
the zentyal box name is cscs.csc.it
the zentyal ldap configuration is:

in the DNS module settings i configured my PDC ip address as DNS forwarder and i mapped the PDC ip address 192.168.153.200 to hosts list in 'csc.it' domain.
doing this i managed to install the "File Sharing and Domain Services" module without errors.
then i configured the file sharing setting with this data:
Server Role: Additiona Domain Controller
Realm: CSC.IT
Domain controller FQDN: cscs1.csc.it
Domain DNS server IP: 192.168.153.200
Administrator account: administrator
Administrator password: **********
NetBIOS domain name: CSC
NetBIOS computer name: cscs
Server description: Zentyal File Server
at this point i was able to query the PDC ldap server with this command:
ldapsearch -H ldap://cscs1.csc.it -b dc=csc,dc=it -x
but if i try to activate the file sharing module i receive this error from the web interface:

i tryed to query the ldap server with my credential, but this raised this error:

i goggled to found that is error is due to a missing library, so i installed libsasl2-modules-gssapi-heimdal
after this, trying to query the AD i get this is the error:

I installed the antivirus and Mailfilter modules.
i didn't configured the mail module, because i don't need it.
both mailfilter and antivirus modules are enabled and are reported as 'started' in the dashboard.
in the antivirus page is reported:
Stato: The antivirus database has not been updated since the module was enabled.

i've a lot of problem with printers module.
first of all i encountered the hplip driver problem stated here:

then i found a bug that broke the printers module.
after a fresh install of a printer (ipp or AppSocket network printer) the printers seems to work and print test pages.
in /etc/cups/printers.conf there are two different printer entries, one for cups and another delimited by the ebox tags.
to enable this printer for the users a 'save changes' (and module restart) is required.
when the module restart the printers.conf file shows two identical entries, but the ebox tags are gone.
every modification that requires a 'save changes' adds another identical printer entry in printer.conf.
also restarting fthe printers sharing service from the dashboard add another printer entry in printers.conf.
enabling the cups web interface show a printer for every entry in printers.conf, but in the ebox printer admin web gui only one appears.
obviouosly none of the printers showed in cups web interface can print.
the printers is present in the domain resources of the ebox pc, and it is possible to connect it from others pc, but the printer does not work (no port connected)
i verified this problem both in an ebox installer setup and in lucid setup+ebox ppa
i didn't test the new 1.5-1, i will try it tomorrow and will report the result.

it seems that this full_audit problem was reported also in samba mailing list, and that it appears randomly, so there is no way for the programmers to reproduce the bug.
really strange.
anyway i think that such a problem that affect some people should at least to be mentioned in the documentation/faq.

i now that the information i provided are generic, but really i don't know how further investigate and provide more information.
the problem is surely related with the the samba version, but the lack of errors in log stops my efforts to provide more informations.
i must solve this problem, i don't need the last version of samba so i will be happy also if i'll manage to reinstall samba management in ebox or even if i'll know how to add new users samba settings from command line...

i've encountered some strange problems reading and writing files on samba shares from xp and win2000.
it is possible to write a file to the mounted share, and copy the file back to the local pc or delete it, but trying to read or write this file on the share is impossible.
every application report a different error.
notepad opens the file but trying to save after some changes report that 'there is not enough memory'.
open office can't open the file and trying to save a file directly to the share report an I/O error.
image preview simply can't open any image.
and so on.
there are no errors on the logs.
i downgraded to the hardy default samba versions, and now all works fine.
the downgrade also removed the ebox-samba package, and now i can't manage users and group from the ebox interface, so any suggestion to solve this problem is really appreciated
