Installation and Upgrades / Re: Zentyal 3.3 Going Strong

Isn't 3.3/3.4 running on an old and no longer supported version of Ubuntu?

I have installed the latest version last night and the following is still outstanding

1. INBOX auto refresh does not work, this is by far the biggest problem :o
2. Calendar Sharing does not work
3. Out of Office does not sync properly to server

Guys we can not sell a defective product to clients.
This. The state that this has been released in is horrifyingly bad, and the Zentyal devs should be ashamed of it.

I am starting to think that they know it sucks, they just want to appear to be making leaps and strides in the act of replacing Microsoft Exchange to boost sales of the non-free product.

Same here. This appeared in daily releases a few days before release. I have tried multiple reinstalls, still no go on local mail delivery...

I'm waiting for the homepage to update with the new download to give a fresh install a try. Here's hoping...

Just downloaded latest update. Still no love on Outlook 2013 automatic inbox refresh with either active or cached exchange modes.

Is Wmware workstation not like that tested iin Hyper-V insteed and goes better there!!
I have been running Zentyal since 3.2 in Hyper-V without issues with 200+ users. Take lots of snapshots before upgrades/etc. :)

This is a known issue, which I would not expect to see fixed in 4.0
So basically:

Quote from: Zentyal.org Web Page
Zentyal is a drop-in replacement for Microsoft Small Business Server and Microsoft Exchange Server, that you can set up in less than 30 minutes.*

(*) Assuming you won't have to restructure your entire Active Directory to ensure all users are under the "Users" container.

Seems to have gotten worse with latest daily 10/3. Outlook 2013 still no automatic inbox refresh, and now getting "The operation failed." dialog box when trying to view calendar.

UPDATE: Problem was fixed by deleting the Outlook mail profile and unconfiguring/reconfiguring Openchange at the server. At that point mail and calendar seem to work, with events put in calendar via webmail showing in Outlook and vice versa (this didn't seem to work before latest update). Still no love on inbox autorefresh though, it seems.

Same issue here, also calendar items don't seem to sync reliably (but I am testing on 4.0 daily, which may be why).

News and Announcements / Re: Zentyal 4.0 Roadmap Published!
« on: July 28, 2014, 05:55:44 pm »
Are the daily builds not available yet, or have I missed the download option somewhere? I plan to eventually deploy this is as an Exchange alternative for approximately 250 users (with varying Outlook versions from 2003 to 2013, and mobile devices), so I would like to help with the bug testing.

Thanks!

Hello Everyone,
I want to use Zentyal as a router and was wondering if anyone has a hardware suggestion for a small footprint, low power consumption box.  Something like an Intel NUC only with dual NIC Cards.

Thanks to everyone in advance.
If you are only wanting to use it as a router, you may be better off using https://www.pfsense.org/ - I have it running on several older boxes that are too dated for workstation use and it works great.

Did you get this issue fixed? I'm facing the same thing...
Performing the upgrade from 3.3 -> 3.4 resolved this for me so I am not 100% certain what fixed it; however, I watched the upgrade closely via tail -f on the upgrade log and noticed the upgrade installed new LDAP schemas. After doing so, the problem went away. I am assuming the user module "upgrade" I performed that caused the issue was actually more of a prep for 3.4's new LDAP configuration.

Good luck, I am dreading 3.4 -> 3.5. Lots of VM snapshots. :)

crtl+alt+del change password

What about Zentyal configurations that aren't running as a domain controller? I.e., POP/IMAP only systems?

Hello Noku,

I'm not able to offer much help, but it sounds like you are in the situation I was in a few months back with Zentyal (I have about 250 users). I can't stress enough that Zentyal Community Edition is horribly unstable as it is strictly bleeding edge (and by bleeding edge I mean updates are released with little to no testing and they really don't care if it breaks your install). I have had 4 installs thus far either crash and burn from the GUI based system/component updates or the 3.3->3.4 upgrade. If you are wanting something to use in production, I would steer clear until they decide to start doing a community "stable". Since you have access to a hypervisor, you'd probably be much better off running a bunch of Debian VMs (or Ubuntu, both use apt which it seems you're comfortable with) for the individual services you need.

Good luck, you're going to need it. :(

Installation and Upgrades / Re: HOWTO: Trusted Certificate
« on: May 07, 2014, 03:18:57 pm »
It would be enough to know how to change   /usr/share/zentyal/stubs/core/haproxy.cfg.mas
and what the .pem should contain.

Please help me out with this
This is the change I made, and it will apply your .pem to pretty much every part of the server (admin, webmail, etc). It will need to be a .pem file including the cert, any intermediate/chain certs, and the key in my experience.

In line 63 of haproxy.cfg.mas you have the following:
Code: [Select]
%           my $newCrt = 'crt ' . $service->{pathSSLCert};
which I have changed to this:
Code: [Select]
%           my $newCrt = 'crt /path/to/my/certificate.pem';
After the change I restarted just to ensure the config files everywhere were regenerated. Hope this helps.
