Hi
DId you found the solution for this problem? I've change the .mas file and reboot the server, but even after that when I create a new user, it doesn't change its /home location. I'm considering to re-install everything, but it will be painful....d

Hi
Try to 'install' again the package 'zentyal'
$ apt-get install zentyal
If you installed from the DVD, I don't know why, you have to install again to setup mysql passwords and stuff.

News and Announcements / Re: Zentyal 4.2 available!
« on: October 22, 2015, 01:45:23 pm »
Hi,
Thanks for the news, as we're all looking forward to improvements. May I say that right now I'm installing it, to see were it goes. But there is one little thing:
I created this psot https://forum.zentyal.org/index.php/topic,25556.msg96628.html#msg96628 and I would like to know if this problem gets fixed in this release.
Sorry to ask, as this feature is very important from all of us and I get stuck on this setup c'ause couldn't get it setup correctly on the Zentyal 4.1.
As a Zentyal enthusiast here in Brasil, I must say that the version 3.4.8 was undoubtedly the best version ever [well, at least for me, I've got everything working fine, not a single fault].
Thanks for the news, let's see what happens
Cheers from Brasil

Hi everyone,
So, I tried all different methods to get it working, but didn't get any results at this time. I see that the Zimbra Server is 8.5.1, and has a updated version which is 8.6.0, and I'll update to see if works.
Thanks a lot for all the answers
I'll keep this post updated, so anyone whom may have this problem could get some help.
See ya

Hi
Actually I've been not able to solve this issue. I've tried the methods you described, among others actions I've found over the internet, but none of those solutions solved the issue.
Did you have this kind of scenario working 100%?

Installation and Upgrades / Zentyal 4.1.2 and Zimbra 8 - LDAP Authentication
« on: July 02, 2015, 10:15:47 pm »
Hi folks
I've been wondering if is it possible to authenticate users from ZIMBRA in the LDAP tree of Zentyal Server.
I do have a Zentyal 3.4.8, which I authenticate all users from my Zimbra 8 Mail server successfully working. But when it comes to Zentyal 4, I can't get it thorough, since latest Zentyal don't show username and password on the section 'LDAP Settings'.
If somebody have a clue on how to get it working on Zentyal 4, please share.
Thanks
PS: I've tried a lot of configuration on the Zimbra side, which includes setting a password for the user Administrator on Zentyal side. Either way I can't authenticate any users, since a the final process of configuration 'Configure Authentication', the 'test' to see if any user could get its credentials, fails.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: SHARES - WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT/IMPOSSIBLE TO SET UP?
« on: March 19, 2014, 06:12:27 pm »
Well, perhaps who those are having 'too much' trouble with shares in Zentyal, aren't fully qualified for the job
The easy way of having your shares organized is thinking about the infrastructure in a low level format. Let me explain:
1 - First question to ask: Where are all my home and profile dir's ? Well, most of the time, the path is /home and /home/samba/profiles. Also, it has one for the 'Shares' in /home/samba/shares/.
2 - So, if the profiles and my home are stored in these paths, and the share are stored in /home/samba/shares, it'll be very clear that I need to create a Folder upon this path, to make sure it works.
3 - When logged in the Zentyal, go to section 'Sharing' and create a share. The following information is required:
* Name: [Don't use spaces, neither special characters like ç, ão, etc.
* Share Path:You can choose either to create a folder upon /home/samba/shares, or specify another path like /home/others/folder-to-share.
* Comments: Leave blank - if not, don't use special characters too
4 - And finally, you have to add ACL to those folders you want to share.
Pretty much it, not so difficult to deal with, let me know if works

Thanks for this solution! In Brasil, we have a lot of special characters, like ção, etc, and this problem was driving me crazy

Sorry for the late answer
https://forum.zentyal.org/index.php?topic=14713.0
Just try not to use special comments (like ção, etc - most used in Brasil) and you'll be ok.
(Forgot to mention: This special characters should not be used in the 'Comments' session when you create a share)

Installation and Upgrades / SAMBA - Permission Problems
« on: November 01, 2013, 08:29:24 pm »
Hi everyone,
Recently I´ve got a new install of Zentyal 3.0.29, and I also has some data migrated to it.
At first, I forgot to mention, before migrate all the data, I´ve setup all the users (with PAM), togheter with all those shares and respectively ACLs, one of the them with 'administrator' permissions and onwership.
So, after recover the backup (wich was a plain copy - first I´ve ziped and then, copy the data to a external HD) and have been setup all ACL´s, the problem begins.
No user has been allowed to 'write' the file, even when I give permissions to it.
I did a 'double-check' to see if I was missing, and found not any misconfiguration around.
I would like to ask if anyone has been throught with this kind of problem, if so, please help me fix it!
Thanks in advance!
PS> I did a plain copy to a external harddrive, so the permissions would be reseted. I did check this too...
smdb -V gives a Version 4.0.5 of SAMBA

Thanks for your quick reply!
I didn´t a very close search, that´s for sure, but your answer just fits my needs.
I´ve changed the port to 390, and Bind using 'zentyalro' user and it works like a charm!
Thanks a lot!
(PS: I have to take a extra time to explore Zentyal 3, as I did in the past, but due to lot of projects and customer requests, my time is little bit tight right now.)
