Installation and Upgrades / Re: Domain name of server, whow should it be named?
« on: September 18, 2014, 01:55:23 pm »
In my case i am searching form problems with outlook 2010 wich will connect, but cant sync (without seeing any error) and after a while it goes offline.
And i thing a get zertifikate problems, because all of them are mydomain.local and i don´t see a way to separate them for internal and external use.
unfortunatly i can´t change the domain name anymore, the local is for the ldap tree used. So changing it will destroy my DC.
But the question is still must it be the same or can it be? The totorial and others are always with .lan so only for internal testing. This makes no sense.

Installation and Upgrades / My own way for missing modules , use virtual machines !
« on: September 17, 2014, 10:43:38 pm »
Hi,
here i want to show interested users, how we can get a maybe better solution for missing functions of zentyal.
To me, i am an IT supporter and i build BTO system by my own for years for privat, buisiness and sometimes server solutions.
In my case i am not happy of removing backup, Gateway function is poor and generally i love VM´s
We need a system which is fully supported for Virtual Machines and nice to have VT-D for pci passtrough, 2 nic adapters, 8Gb Ram, 2 internal SSD´s, external SATA Hdd in HotSwap bay.
My components:

Why ProxmoxVE:

Installation and Upgrades / Domain name of server, whow should it be named?
« on: September 17, 2014, 10:02:53 pm »
I ´am irritated from reading this tutorial for 4.0 which should be identically for 3.x
https://wiki.zentyal.org/wiki/How_to_configure_Zentyal%27s_Microsoft_Outlook%C2%AE-compatible_mail_server
I have learned that when i set up an exchange server i need to have an internal Host domain name and an external mail domain name.
Example:
Host domain name: mydomain.local
Virtual mail domain: mydomain.com
In this tutorial both are identical. Is this today normal? I am comming from sbs2003 ...
Do i get problems when choosing different names?

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Zentyal 4 External interface lockout
« on: September 17, 2014, 09:54:19 pm »
you need to configure your eth0 as internal lan. But you won´t get outlook anywhere running (rpc) because this needs an external interface.
When you later on activate you lan as external you also need to change the firewal roules for getting access (allow all).
But i am not sure if this really works, in my test with 3.5 i had big problems with outlook 2010 any anywhere.
Momentally and for months i wait for a clear answer if zentyal himselve only supports min. 2 lan connections. In the future with reduced modules i don´t see the need in using zentyal as dhcp and gateway anymore. here are much better solutions like ipfire.
Do you know https://wiki.zentyal.org/wiki/How_to_configure_Zentyal%27s_Microsoft_Outlook%C2%AE-compatible_mail_server ?

Installation and Upgrades / SOGo Mail sharing with other user not possible?
« on: September 16, 2014, 11:22:48 am »
Hi,
I am not sure if this is the right way, but i need to give another user access to my mail inbox. I tried to ways in SOGo, delegation and user rights for the mail folder.
Both ways are not seen inside SOGo from the other user. No idea how to access it, because the buttons under the folders for adding other accounts / resources like in calender / contact are missing.
Has anyone tried to use delegation and/or user rights for mail folders?

Installation and Upgrades / nmbd service is not started on 3.5 - Samba Server not shown on windows 7 clients
« on: September 15, 2014, 03:34:50 pm »
I noticed with my fresh 3.5 installation, that the server himselve is not shown in the Windows 7 computers list. I can manually access over browser bar all shares, but the Server himselve should also be seen.
I notice that the nmbd service is not startet. This seems to be responsible for that problem.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: how can i allow other users to access my home folder?
« on: September 15, 2014, 02:53:27 pm »
Of cause, i agree that this situation is in normal networks not wanted and unsecure. For home use i have seen it in many cases like in this installation.
Anyway let´s close this. I can disable it and create own folders for sharing. No matter.

In my SBS 2003 i had no restriktion like these. I think it should be my decision and the home folders should be shown on shares.

Installation and Upgrades / [solved] how can i allow other users to access my home folder?
« on: September 15, 2014, 12:26:06 am »
What am i doing wrong? I enabled serverstorage userprofile and moved my windows dokument files to my own folder on the server. i also activated offline sync in windows.
For me i can access my files, but other users can´t see my home folder in samba shares.
I thought i can configure my sharing rights in Zentyal / Shares, but the home folders of the users doesn´t appear here. Why is this so?
I need to access the other home folders!
Thanks

Installation and Upgrades / Re: ActiveSynch Error: Unkown webclient ?
« on: September 06, 2014, 11:25:31 pm »
Are you sure Android 3.2? Do you have a device with 4.x ? Is is just an idea, but 3.2 wasn't really better than 2.3 and with this i also had active sync problems with sbs2003.

Do you use a custom Rom? My Note 3 works with sogo-activesync.

didn´t you use search
https://forum.zentyal.org/index.php/topic,23006.msg88685.html#msg88685
and first of all it should work in your local lan. Did you try this? If you use on nic don´t activate eth0 as wan. And io mean that the proxy is only for outlook web access needed.

News and Announcements / Re: Zentyal 4.0 Roadmap Published!
« on: August 26, 2014, 10:45:09 pm »
I really don´t know what to do in the future. Till now, zentyal has given me many problems, i am far away of seeing it a fully working due to many problems when setting up and using it for just the basics like DC, Outlook and ActiveSync. And i also miss backups including mails, which is essential for a mail server.
Many things are half way done, its getting more and more a openchange distro than a sbs replacement.
Let me list some of major problems i noticed:
I also agree, that cutting the gateway functions is not the right way. I also thing that integrating a well working other projects is a much better way that giving it back to the community.
For me it seems, that the main aspects are loosing there focus. A sbs replacement must have something better than MS. The product price is not the main thing, but it should be easy to set up, maintain, absolutly secure and stable and devices indipendent. Can we found this in the roadmap ? Not really.
I am also on a turning point. Shall i try zentyal furthermore or better switch to an other solution. I the last moths i spend to many hours in getting foreward

- not everything is working on ssl. trying to do this will brake SOGo Webmailer
- activesync, no clear way (z-push or sogo-activesync) still no decission in 4.0
- no word about activesync and ssl it must be standard today
- certificates for outlook are still making problems, maybe because the poor documentation
- firewall is much to difficult compared to ipfire, i agree ichats oppinion

German / Re: OpenChange Synchronisation von außerhalb
« on: August 25, 2014, 06:44:22 pm »
