Hi,

I'm happy user of eBox 1.2.
Few days ago I decided to give the zentyal a try. Downloaded an ISO created a new machine under VirtualBox and no luck. After choosing any of the zentyal components the CPU gets 100% and nothing happens.
After many tries I decided to download ubuntu server and install zentyal using packages.

So I downloaded ubuntu, installed it, updated it (means that internet connection isn't the problem) and stopped on importing a public key to apt.

Installation steps were taken from the following manual:
http://trac.zentyal.org/wiki/Document/Documentation/InstallationGuide#Zentyal2.0packages

Below you'll find the error message which I get:

Code: [Select]
rob@zentek:~$ sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 10E239FF
Executing: gpg --ignore-time-conflict --no-options --no-default-keyring --secret-keyring /etc/apt/secring.gpg --trustdb-name /etc/apt/trustdb.gpg --keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --primary-keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 10E239FF
gpg: requesting key 10E239FF from hkp server keyserver.ubuntu.com
gpgkeys: HTTP fetch error 7: couldn't connect to host
gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.
gpg: Total number processed: 0

Is it possible to install it without importing this key?

Kind regards,
Robert

You need to clean the /mnt/backup first and then disable the backup module.

Hi,

I would suggest you guys to check the DNS configuration.
You'll get the same problem with Win2k3 AD domain (in your case eBox) and almost any Win client which has some problems with DNS.

There is some issue with the antivirus module. So in order to read such files you need to disable the antivirus module.

You didn't understand me.

If you enter the VPN section you see "List of servers"
What I want to know is how many VPN servers do you have in the table below the "List of servers"?

Maybe I'm wrong but I think that you should configure VPN server for each ADSL line separately (using different UDP ports).

After adding those parameters to the registery, I get the message "Welcome the EBOX Domain" but after clicking ok I ge the error message:

Computer Name/Domain Changes

Changing the Primary Domain DNS Name of this computer to "" failed.
The Name will remain "EBOX"
The error was:

The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.

and after the restart, I try to login using the username I get: The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed.
and I am back at the login screen again.

Hi,
I had similar problem with Vista and resolved it with changing the domain name on PDC to "ebox.int".

I am sure for the above. The vpn network is considered as 'External' network in ebox. I had to add rules to access samba shares, ssh, httpd etc in the section "Filtering rules from external networks to internal networks".
I think that there is a security problem we are forced to add rules to this section to have internal access from the vpn network.

Hi thomas,

You are not right, the VPN is considered as internal network.
You should use the second option in firewall configuration called "Filtering rules for internal networks"

Try to add the following rule and you will get it working properly:
Source: any; Destination: any; service: any

If it works for you then change this rule to be more restricted.

Hi,

Yes I did it at installation time so it was mounted.

The 'rdiff-backup' command worked but with '--force' switch.

I understand that next backup will be done automatically, is that true?

Thanks

Installation and Upgrades / Backup problem

Hello,

After losing almost everything from my system http://forum.ebox-platform.com/index.php?topic=1876.0 ...
I decided to make some changes with my drives. So I disassembled RAIDs drives and made them just separate drives: one for data and one for backup.
Since I had some problems with configuration of some modules I decided to make a fresh install of eBox.

Knowing that an other drive must be mounted as /mnt/backup I made it while installing eBox.

I have read the documentation regarding backup and when I try to verify the backup state with
Code: [Select]
rdiff-backup -l /mnt/backup/ I get the following error message:
Code: [Select]
It doesn't appear to be an rdiff-backup destination dir
Everything seems to be fine (backup module enabled, /mnt/backup in config, etc.) but it doesn't work.

How can I solve this?

Regards

Hi

IE is not a good choice for eBox.
Opera works almost perfect but does not allow to download configuration backups.
I have no issues with Firefox, Google Chrome/Iron.

Just to see, on my test ebox, I backed up the configuration. Then restored it. It did indeed delete the user files when restoring a configuration backup. This should not be..  or at the very least, it should warn you. As most people would assume a "configuration" restore would not touch the user data..

  Installed: 1.2.8-0ubuntu1~ppa1~hardy1
  Candidate: 1.2.8-0ubuntu1~ppa1~hardy1
  Version table:
 *** 1.2.8-0ubuntu1~ppa1~hardy1 0
        500 http://ppa.launchpad.net hardy/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     0.11.99-0ubuntu11 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/universe Packages

It means I found a bug :)

The worst thing is that I still have no luck with restoring my files.
I really don't like the EXT3 file system.

I've never tried to recover from ext3. However, maybe a suggestion or two??
By default the 1.2 installer enables backup to /mnt/backup. Have you looked there?

Secondly, where did the pics originally come from, my you be able to recover from there?

Hope this helps..  If nothing else, it's a good reminder for the rest of us to keep good backups at all times.

Good luck..

When I installed eBox I didn't know about the /mnt/backup.
My "system" drive is only 20GB and the backup location was placed on it so after the first full backup the whole ebox stopped working because there was no room for this backup.

I must confess that I turned off the automatic backup in the modules section after mentioned situation.

Now I know that 50% of my current problem is my fault because if I had a backup I wouldn't be writing this right now.

As SamK wrote my situation shows that RAID1 is not always the best option.
After I finish with recovering my data I will repartition the drives to have 1 for the /home and 1 for the /mnt/backup.
