Installation and Upgrades / Re: Firewall Rules
« on: February 11, 2015, 02:41:50 am »
Mittelerde if I do a firewall uninstall I lose DNS, DHCP, Mail and Groupware, Open Change Server, Domain Controller and File Sharing, etc, etc. I might as well re-install the server?

I know said to do a config backup, this could be a long night?

Thoughts?

Turn off the firewall, all is good, turn it back on no access to the zentyal server.

So it is the firewall but it is only affecting the zentyal server.

I will wait until I get on site to do the reinstall, thanks for the help!

Installation and Upgrades / [SOLVED]Firewall Rules
« on: February 10, 2015, 02:45:36 pm »
Have my zentyal server set as my firewall into my network, I had the firewall rules setup and working including port forwarding. Yesterday it stopped, sort of. I have two primary servers that are accessible from the outside, one is a lamp server and the other zentyal. I can still access the Lamp server but all requests to the zentyal server are dropped, no response. As a troubleshooting method I set all  four packet filter configuration settings to forward all packets, no filter rules. I also set port forwarding to do the same with all port requests. Basically this server is wide open, but still not able to get a connection, as an example SoGo web mail.

The Lamp server is accessible and severing up web pages, that's not an issue. Based on this I firmly believe the firewall rules on zentyal are "broken". Any suggestions on how to reset the rules? Rather not have to dump them all then reset them. Found this script on several web sites, but it would replace all my current rules requiring a reset of them?
iptables -F
iptables -X
iptables -t nat -F
iptables -t nat -X
iptables -t mangle -F
iptables -t mangle -X
iptables -P INPUT ACCEPT
iptables -P FORWARD ACCEPT
iptables -P OUTPUT ACCEPT

Really like to hear some thoughts\suggestions on how to proceed please.

Anyone????

Or is this an unsolvable question?

Installation and Upgrades / Virtual Web Hosts
« on: January 20, 2015, 12:13:11 am »
Trying to setup two virtual web hosts in Zentyal, one for SOgo second for OwnCloud. Has anybody taken a run at this? If so some pointers would be nice, I can ride the bike but need to be pointed in the right direction. One of two problems I have encountered where is the SOgo root web directory?

I'm also wondering what if any mod's would be needed for apache2.conf as there are some lines here I believe need to be commented out and replaced. Specifically IncludeOptional conf-enabled/*.conf and IncludeOptional sites-enabled/*.conf

the goal to end up accessing these two sites by
webmal.domainname.xx
owncloud.domainneame.xx

Thoughts?

Julien, have you seen my post on page two, mine has nothing to do with importing .pst but rather an ongoing crash due to samba and openldap. I did submit a bug tracker for this problem about mid-March. Only solution give was to rename my openchange name, seemed like a half solution as I would have to change the domain name also. when I asked this question never got an answer back. I'm also unable to join any device to the domain.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: SAMBA and OpenChange Crashing

Do a search of the forums, your not the only one this is happening to. I have the same problem and is a known bug of samba4, see here;

 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba4/+bug/809638

I have posted with the same problem, ZERO responses.

good luck.

Here is what I know about this problem
1. Here is the crux of the problem, from the crash report;
     Traceback (most recent call last):
        File "/usr/sbin/samba_dnsupdate", line 510, in <module>
          get_credentials(lp)
        File "/usr/sbin/samba_dnsupdate", line 123, in get_credentials
          raise e
     RuntimeError: kinit for SERVERNAME$@DOMAIN-NAME.LOCAL failed (Cannot contact any KDC for requested realm)
2. Known bug with samba4, see here;
             https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba4/+bug/809638
3. Did the suggested fix\work around, did not work
      modify /etc/krb5.conf
------------ snip snip -------------------
[libdefaults]
 default_realm = VMNET.US
 dns_lookup_realm = false
 dns_lookup_kdc = true
 ticket_lifetime = 24h
 renew_lifetime = 7d
 forwardable = true

[realms]
 VMNET.US = {
  kdc = vmnet-dc1.vmnet.us
  admin_server = vmnet-dc1.vmnet.us
 }

[domain_realm]
 .vmnet.us = VMNET.US
 vmnet.us = VMNET.US

Made the changes, modified as needed to match my domain, restarted DNS, still suffering from the same issue, now what??
Supposedly zentyal to drop openladp and go with samba4 only, attempt to overcome this problem???

4.No official response on how to fix this issue

In the meantime any idea's anyone, anyone, anyone.

Skymatix please share how you where able to get Outlook to work?
What version of Outlook are you using? I can get it to work for a short bit but eventually it fails. Like you I have to update my IP, but at this point that is a minor nuisance.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Share NTFS partitions
« on: June 02, 2014, 02:55:32 am »
I have an external USB HardDisk which has an NTFS filesystem. When I mounted it under /media/ext when I try to add the new share via the Web Interface I get the Message:

"The mount point '/media/ext' must be mounted with 'acl' option. This is required for permissions to work properly." I'm running Zentyal 3.4.3.

Mounted with acl option did not work, In addition I found I needed to mount with both user and group of samba.

I am mounting the external drive via fstab per below,
/dev/disk/by-uuid/70267A8E267A54D6/ /mnt/ext ntfs-3g acl,auto,uid=108,gid=113,umask=007 0 0

uid and gid are user and group samba, I no longer get the mount point error, I can create shares via the web GUI, but when I access the shares from a user PC\laptop nothing is listed, the directory is empty. When I access the same location from the terminal I "see" the files but the directories are shown as empty, but in reality they contain files, see below;

Directory
drwxrwx--- 1 root root    0 Feb 15 12:21 Dakota
Contents
-rwxrwx--- 1 root root 635K Jun 29  2002 Dakota1.jpg
-rwxrwx--- 1 root root 519K Jun 29  2002 Dakota2.jpg
-rwxrwx--- 1 root root 844K Jun 29  2002 Dakota3.jpg
-rwxrwx--- 1 root root 397K Jul 10  2002 PICT0004.JPG
-rwxrwx--- 1 root root 569K Jul 10  2002 PICT0005.JPG

Any thoughts on what else needs to be done to fix this?

I am inclined to agree with bjones10, OpenChange is NOT ready. Spent two weeks after a fresh install of zentyal 3.4 getting OpenChange web client, phone sync and Outlook working, then a two week slide as first one then another started failing. First it was phone sync, the inbox stopped updating but could still send but now that has failed, phone sync is not responding. Then the web client stopped updating the inbox and could not reply to emails, now unable to send any emails. Just now Outlook has failed, getting a message cannot connect to the exchange server.

This isn't just OpenChange, have several other problems, such as, not able to join PC's or other servers to the zentyal domain, well I got one to join right after install, H drive is not mapping and any user logging in to this PC is not sync'd to the server. Manually mapped drives show up as disconnected and when selected a dialog box pops up asking for username and password.

So how is this supposed to work in a production environment? Constantly having to fiddle with the product, never sure if it will work day to day and the forums??? My experience has at best been mixed, most of the issues I have brought to the forum have languished and I determined the solution by other means.Submitted bug reports, again no reply or feedback, frustrating to say the least. I understand this is the "free" version and cutting edge, so where is the improvements, updates and fixes that address the various issues so that the paid for version is stable and functioning or are they only released to the paid for version?

But based on what I experienced I'm not inclined to risk the investment. I may get lambasted for my comments but I wonder how many others have had a negative experience and just moved on? It is a product with a wonderful complement of products and a huge potential that I would love to see succeed.

Installation and Upgrades / Samba DNS Crash
« on: April 28, 2014, 04:30:49 am »
Recent problem has emerged, I was able to join my Win 7 laptop to my domain after doing a clean install of Zentyal and I have it fully updated. When I attempted to join any other PC/Laptop/Server, it is a mixed environment, I am getting message unable to contact domain server. Dashboard is posting message /var/crash/_usr_sbin_samba_dnsupdate.0.crash. Mail is no longer running and mail clients are unable to contact the mail server, only thing working is webmail.

If I restart the server all works, for a short bit or if I manually restart File Sharing and Domain Service I get the crash message right away.

In short Samba DNS is crashing, any thoughts on why?

Crash report is attached.

Not working for me, still getting https://hostname.domain-name.local

What is the proper way to do this,
 "x-webobjects-server-url" "https://<% myhostname.domain-name.org %>:<% $sslPort %>"
or
 "x-webobjects-server-url" "https://<% myhostname.domain-name %>:<% $sslPort %>"
or
 "x-webobjects-server-url" "https://<% myhostname %>:<% $sslPort %>"

thoughts please.
