Installation and Upgrades / Re: Let's Encrypt SSL Certrificates
« on: February 01, 2017, 06:39:42 pm »
The directions do work and have the scripts set to run on server startup. Might be a bit overkill but for me I have found when apache restarts the certs get clobbered and just the cert for webmail\sogo. Going to look see if I can get the script to run whenever the command to restart apache is used.

Think your best bet is to look elsewhere, see below results of a search for extending samaba4 ldap schema.

Good luck!

I'm not a zen master at Linux, can you point me in a proper direction for information on creating custom stubs/hooks please. I attempted a google search but didn't come up with much that helpled me.

Thanks!

Installation and Upgrades / IPV6 Forwarding Support
« on: July 20, 2015, 02:45:29 am »
More of a comment then issuing a new problem.

My ISP is in the process of rolling out IPV6 addressing, so in anticipation of this change I attempted to put in OpenDNS IPV6 address in DNS > Forwarders using 2620:0:ccc::2, when I attempted to save the new address I got an error, Invalid value for Forwarder: 2620:0:ccc::2.

This may not be a huge problem as ISP will provide DNS servers but I would much rather use OpenDNS as I really don't want to land on my ISP search page for failed address lookups and OpenDNS is much faster. Yes I know that zentyal is supposed to use top level DNS servers but that doesn't always happen.

So the question will Zentyal support or allow IPV6 addresses?

DNS lookup on my local network fails when attempting to ping or use any other type of services based on host name. It is a mixed environment using Linux and Windows machines. I am using version 4.1.2 of zentyal on Ubuntu 14.04 all patches are up to date. Under Network > DNS search Domain it is populated with my internal domain name, under DNS Enable transparent DNS cache is enabled, forwarders are defined, and under Domains I have domain.lan and domain.org defined, .lan has internal only IP address with zentyal server for hostname while .org as WAN IP only address and * and www for host name. Also have under DHCP Dynamic domain enabled.

Thoughts or suggestions?

This may not be much help, I have gotten it to work. I am using KVM with qemu and only the  standard network interface created by the VM manager. I to attempted to create a bridge interface, failed. My attempts was to create rules in Firewall section, varies combinations of "Filtering rules from internal networks to Zentyal", "Filtering rules for internal networks" and a SNAT rule and initially they would work but on reboot it would fail. Finally removed all the rules, several reboots later and I'm still able to communicate with my virtual machines. My only advice, shutdown VM prior to rebooting zentyal. Not a prefect solution but then again rebooting your primary server should always be a planned event.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Backup in 4.1

I'm using Bacula with a 4 TB external hard drive mounted to a directory. Plenty of options for different web based GUI to manage the program, but it can be a pain to setup. But once it is setup and running just have to monitor it.

25
I'm using Bacula as I do have a sql server, bit of a pain to setup but works great and backups are being saved to an external drive. I also use Webmin on my sql server to give me a web gui to administrate the application. Zentyal uses mysql, bit of digging guessing you could use that, wouldn't be my first choice.

Bacula also provides a method to pull saved files and\or directories when needed.

Check it out think it will cover your needs.

Installation and Upgrades / [solved]E-mail Error
« on: February 16, 2015, 05:29:48 am »
When attempting to send an email from webmail I am getting this message;

Cannot send message: All Recipients are invalid

When I try to use Thunderbird I get

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded:  4.3.0 <user@mydomain.com>: Temporary lookup failure. Please check the message recipient

Outlook also returns a similar response and it doesn't matter if its an internal mail address or an external address.

Preform a nslookup of mx record I get the following;
 broughtonhome.org
Server:         127.0.0.1
Address:        127.0.0.1#53

Same result for external look ups also. This why I am getting errors when attempting to send emails?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: PST import
« on: February 15, 2015, 01:03:21 am »
I accomplished it by establishing account to Zentyal with Outlook then imported the old pst file into the Zentyal account. Now granted this means all users will need to import there own pst but I wonder if this is how it is meant to be done.

Well yes actually I did have a change, the firewall had stopped working only way to get reconfigured, I thought and was given a degree of validation, was to un-install the reinstall the firewall module. This resulted in removing all most all of the modules in Zentyal but I figured I had a backup of the working config all would be good. But after installing all the modules before I could apply the backup config Zentyal needed to put in domain name which I did, the same name as before.

I have tried to remove the mail modules, install them again then run the backup but same results.

I have tried to telnet in but I get a message connection refused. I'm testing from inside my network, using internal interface IP address and have filter rule set to allow any connection.

When attempting to send mail I am getting message;

Cannon send message: All Recipients are invalid

Just started, how does the mail service validate address?
How do I test to determine what isn't working?
Firewall is on, appears to be working properly.
Doesn't matter if it is an internal address or an external address.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Firewall Rules
« on: February 11, 2015, 05:02:39 pm »
Well I did it, removed the firewall module which removed 10 other modules. I then did a install of the firewall mod and all the other modules that where removed. I then ran the restore, which did not run complete, had to enable some of the modules, then run the restore again, enable the rest of the modules and run the restore again. In all I ran the restore 4 times before it all came back up.  :D

Firewall is now working, along with all the other services expect for an issue with mail. When attempting to send an email either using the web client or Thunderbird get an error message none of the receipts are valid. Doesn't matter if I select the address from the address book or type it in nor if it is an internal recipient or external.

Attempting to send an email to this domain results in a bounce back e-mail, error states "address was not found in the recipients e-mail system".

Not sure if I should close this ticket and open a new one. The firewall is working so original issue is solved but resolving it caused a different issue.
