Lack of Dev responses to simple questions, and the lack of updated documentation is why I would never pay for a Zentyal License.  Nor would I ever ask any of my clients to do the same.  Before I pay for any license, support and development must be active.

I do run Zentyal personally.  Mainly because I'm hopeful they will eventually get things right, and become the drop in replacement they claimed they were.

I've tried adding Zentyal to a Windows Domain with 2008r2 as the AD.

Couldn't get it to work at all.

Zentyal itself worked, and connected to AD successfully and without an issue.  The problem came in with the way Zentyal works with AD.  The users must be in the domain.local/users OU.  Since I already have AD setup, it is not configured as such, nor will it change to be that way.  My users sit in a different OU.

While testing out Zentyal, I tried to make it work using the Users OU it wanted.  That did not allow me to enable any email accounts as the schema was different.

I gave up....In my opinion.  Zentyal isn't ready to be an MS Exchange Drop in replacement as they advertise.  Perhaps in a fresh domain, but not as part of an existing one.

I keep checking the forums in hopes someone has resolved the problems, as I am hopeful.

I had this problem as well.  The solution for me was changing the replication for addr.arpa properties, and the root forest.  It was set for Windows 2000 compatibility.

I have the same issue, and update/reinstall did not fix it for me.

Having the same issues here.  Connecting from the localhost, or otherwise.

The install/configuration is pretty straight forward.

Once installed, select your desired modules, activate and configure.  Under domain settings, set it as an additional domain controller.  Configure the options to connect to your domain controller.

then it's a matter of configuring Zentyal to be your exchange server.

I may have spoken too soon.  I am running into a number of issues getting the mail to work.  I'm not sure what I am missing.  It is connected to the domain controller, and sees the forest with out any issues.  Just unable to properly create email accounts, and send/receive.

As it stands in its current state; I don't think Zentyal is a drop in replacement for Exchange like they claim.  Either that, or I'm missing a setting somewhere to get it all to work right.

I have been testing Zentyal on a Windows domain which has Windows Server 2008R2 as the first domain controller.  Zentyal as an exchange server.  It is the only exchange server, and for the most part it works.  Only issue I am finding is that if the user is not in the domain.local/user OU....it doesn't work.

Other than that, it seems to work fine.
