Hi I've set up a Zentyal 6 install with a view to removing an old windows fileserver and have a couple of thing I'd like to sort out before going any further.

1. When I change the permissions for a share in the web interface these changes are not applied to the AD domain until I restart smbd and nmbd, is this the correct behaviour and is ther eany way to modify this?

2. The fileserver shows a user's home directory by default, I know I can change this by commenting it out in "/etc/samba/shares.conf" but every time I save another change the original file structure s restored is there away I can modify this?

Okay initial configuration of Zentyal as file server and domain controller, package install fails with dpkg error and a message to check the logs in /var/log/zetyal on chceking the software log in there's an error installing zetyal-samba saying that the dependency samba is not correctly configured.

I ran dpkg --configure -a from a terminal and get pretty much the same error dpkg times out trying to configure samba and then zentyal samba can't be setup either.

can post logs etc if needed.

Ok,

Answered my own question network configuration is installed as part of the initial configuration so my real error is most likely that that is failing I'll post back with error I get from that.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply sorry haven't had a chance to look at this for a few days.
On my install I don't have a link in the webpage for network I did have a look before and couldn't find anything, I'm guessing it should look as per this attached screenshot from the wiki:

However with my install (bearing in mind I've skipped the software installation because it always fails), the network sub menu is not listed I just have dashboard, module status, system ,logs and software management.

My apologies if I'm missing something obvious but I'm quite keen to try out zentyal and this is obviously a bit of a stumbling block.

Hi I'm currently in the process of evaluating zentyal to possibly replace a couple of our local windows server but I'm having some initial setup issues:

The first is that the server I'm installing to uses raid 1 for redundancy, zentyal installs to this Ok but does not boot after installation, i fixed this by booting from a live distro and marking the first partition as bootable (apparently no done by the installer ubuntu server does this as well).

The second is that once installed my NIC does not seem to be configured correctly and is not initialised. All zentyal server configuration fails after this point

The NIC was detected and configured by the installer and I tried playing around by /etc/network/interfaces but wasn't sure if the card was being managed by another utility.

Anyone seen anything similar before?
