Hi,

Can you provide me the number of the issue in the tracker?

I have rechecked the status of the issue and the pull request is scheduled to be processed this morning. Therefore, I think the updates should be processed and new packages available within the afternoon.

Julien.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Openchange and Migration
« on: January 13, 2014, 09:58:06 am »
Hi Juan,

We will dig into this shortly and get back to you when I have more information.

FYI, note that the current openchange migration wizard is still very experimental code and comes with several limitations. We have in the pipe to improve the core technology involved here but it is unlikely to happen before mid-end of Q2 due to our roadmap.

News and Announcements / Zentyal Server Release Policy
« on: January 10, 2014, 07:12:35 pm »
Hi Everybody,

Happy new year 2014 to all of you.

Among last weeks, we have noticed some threads discussing or mentioning the Zentyal Server release strategy.

This is obviously a major piece of our server strategy that we have officially announced and presented during Zentyal Summit 2013 [2]. However, we had not yet provided an official document explaining the concepts, objectives and benefits of this new strategy along with its impact on the community editions.

This is now fixed and available at the following URL http://www.zentyal.org/zentyal-release-policy/

Best Regards,
Julien.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Zentyal 3.4
« on: January 10, 2014, 05:07:54 pm »
The publication of the new server release strategy has (in addition to summit talk) been pushed on our website

Cool, this is mid of March, not April. My fault.

Is there any plan to describe further what these (interesting) roadmap items will contain ?
In another post, I was referring to HAproxy integration. Title is fine but content is still, at least in my mind, confusing. not that I don't know (and use) HAproxy  ;) but this component may bring very different features as far as Zentyal is concerned. Thus rather than component name or brand, do you plan to describe roadmap in term of feature ?

I would also copy/paste this comment regarding UTM services HA although concept here is somewhat clearer.

Yes,

Sorry I didn't reply your previous message, but that was a bit out of the scope of the main topic and I didn't want to mix discussions. This thread is - afaics - more appropriate.

We will publish a detailed feature-level view at some point during next days - probably though forums and zentyal.org website.

With regards to HAProxy, the immediate use in 3.4 will be to provide Outlook Anywhere support. It will also be used by the high availability components and internally to remove our Apache dependency for the admin panel. Therefore you should atm consider HAProxy as a "transparent component" in Zentyal rather than as an active module.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Zentyal 3.4

::)
Has 3.4 been announced already  ???
I would be more than surprised if it appears before April...
3.3 has been announced mid of December. New release policy is one new release every quarter, then April makes sense isn't it?
Well

I agree... But I'm curious and change sources.list on Zentyal 3.3 and I put 3.4.. Voi-lá! I was able to performe an apt-get update... But doesn't work when I performe a apt-get dist-upgrade...
Complain about redis-server or something...
Now I try a fresh 3.3 installation...

Good afternoon,

The development of 3.4 has already started [1] and we have switched master to 3.4 along with automatic build of packages.
However we do not yet recommend users to update to experimental 3.4 development versions yet because this version will require Ubuntu 13.10 and we are working on modules/package and distribution upgrade paths at this time.

The publication of the new server release strategy has (in addition to summit talk) been pushed on our website [2].

Julien.

This is not solved. Who marked it as solved?

I did.

Your post lacks required information to move forward accordingly. You are referring to an old database package, but you do not name any technology. You are mentioning various Windows clients, but you do not list the operating system versions. Therefore there is absolutely no ways whether one's can help you troubleshoot your situation and make any recommendations.

Furthermore, you are taking a product approach to your problems to compare performances instead of comparing the technology. Once again, instead of mentioning the version of your old system, why don't you instead provide the Samba (3.X) version they are using along with the smb.conf file you are using.

Therefore the topic is solved for me unless you provide concise, relevant information and make this topic less hazy.

Spanish / Re: Migrar zentyal 3.2 al 3.3
« on: January 08, 2014, 06:16:00 pm »
Hi,
Buenas Tardes,

Creo que hay un error. Esto debería ser:

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo sed -ri 's/zentyal(.)3.2/zentyal\13.3/g' /etc/apt/sources.list
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

The nopassword=y option enabled only when openchange module is installed has been merged and new packages should be released automatically before tomorrow:

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Openchange mailbox permissions
« on: January 07, 2014, 09:22:15 pm »
Hi,

Setting permissions should normally be available through Microsoft Outlook directly.

If this is not the case, it shall either mean we are missing a prerequisite (as it is supposed to work) or there is a regression. In any case, we'll adress the issue promptly.

In the meanwhile, can you provide us more information about your environment (Microsoft Outlook version, Zentyal version) and errors you encounter (zentyal.log, samba.log etc.)?

Julien.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: File sharing issues with Zentyal 3.3.
« on: January 07, 2014, 08:56:32 pm »
Hi fasttech,

You need to add this option into the samba stubs file located in /usr/share/zentyal/stubs/samba

Hi mrooks1984,

Thanks for your patience and feedback.

It sounds like we have not merged the pull request that was addressing this issue. It is scheduled to be done shortly. I'll update you when new packages addressing your issue are available.

Br,
Julien.

72
The updated package should be in QA and delivered through our repositories promptly. I'll double check the status with the team.

zentyal-webmail 3.2.2 has been released.

Br,
Julien.

73
PS i have the 3.2 version and not the 3.3.

The updated package should be in QA and delivered through our repositories promptly. I'll double check the status with the team.

Workaround avoids to expose this threat through (Zentyal) RoundCube but it still exists  ::)

Hi Christian,

The static passdb option with nopassword=y should only be depending on openchange module installation. If there is no Microsoft Exchange Server compatible server in the picture, there should indeed be no need for this parameter. We will fix this soon.

However, all the discussion focuses on "custom IMAP applications deployments" which is really - imho - a corner case and merely out of the scope. From Zentyal server's perspective, 127.0.0.1/32 is a trusted environment and all Zentyal modules are deployed with respect to this policy. Deploying new custom applications, moreover on an office server should always be a strict and controlled process.

Br,
Julien.

This seems to do, well, exactly that - allow any password when connecting from localhost (ie using webmail). I commented out this section and that seems to fix it. Looking at git, this arrived in 3.2... although I can't imagine why. Am I missing something - is this deliberate, or a bug?

Hi,

The nopassword=y for 127.0.0.1 has been added on purpose within the context of openchange module implementation and dovecot authentication through SOGo libraries requirements.

The roundcube package Zentyal provides therefore adjust the configuration to work around this issue and had furthermore been identified and fixed during 3.3 development process:

If you want to use a custom roundcube package, adjust the IP address your webmail binds on to a different one than 127.0.0.1.

Julien.
