News and Announcements / New OpenChange webmail in Zentyal 3.4
« on: February 21, 2014, 07:13:07 pm »
Good afternoon,

Starting with Zentyal 3.4, users of the OpenChange module will discover a new webmail specifically redesigned by Zentyal to provide a familiar user experience and improve usability.

You can learn more about this change and see some screenshots in the following article published in Zentyal Labs:

http://labs.zentyal.org/zentyal-webmail-restyle/

We are very excited to share this work with you and would really appreciate feedback from early adopters before it goes live with Zentyal 3.4 ISO on March 15th.

Br,
Julien.

@Torsten73: This is already the case.

With regards to the original topic -  yes we are very likely to provide activesync packages that work with OpenChange as of Zentyal 3.4. We will not integrate these packages within our graphical interface because we are in a post-freeze period, but they will be available from command-line.

Julien.

  • Edit /et/zentyal/zentyal.conf and set debug = yes
  • Edit /usr/share/zentyal/stubs/samba/smb.conf.mas and add dcerpc_mapiproxy:ndrdump = true
  • Restart Samba: service zentyal samba restart
  • Reproduce the crash with Outlook
  • Go to the dashboard and submit the crash report

Continues a me pinger et envoies egalement ton fichier /var/log/samba/samba.log.

On apprecie beaucoup!

http://doc.zentyal.org/3.3/en/openchange.html#configuring-the-microsoft-outlook-client

Bien Cdlt,
Julien.

News and Announcements / Re: Hasta la vista, Trac
« on: February 10, 2014, 12:56:39 pm »
Good evening,

This week, we have scheduled to migrate from our existing trac bug tracker and documentation framework to redmine for the bug tracking and mediawiki for the documentation:

http://tracker.zentyal.org

The tool is never an end in itself but it does have a significant impact on how we supply documentation, triage, follow-up or process issues with ease and better efficiency. We have already invested a significant additional amount of time in fixing bugs and we will continue this effort until we reach what we consider being an acceptable status. Furthermore, some parts of the documentation have already been migrated and the rendering is quite good.

One significant part of this process is obviously the migration of tickets and we have chosen to this regards to perform a manual triage among existing tickets. The objective is not to artificially decrease the number of backlog issues but to focus on what is achievable to be fixed in a foreseeable future. It is therefore possible we omit by inadvertence to migrate some tickets that shall be important to you. If such case occurs, you are invited to add them onto the new service. Any help to this regards will be strongly appreciated!

The new platform will soon be available and you will be able to log in with your forums credentials.

The old tracker is available at the following URL and will be disposed of our infrastructure on March 10th max: http://oldtracker.zentyal.org/report

Best Regards,
Julien.

I wrote about two problems, now I cann't find them on the new bug tracker. Why am I wasting my time and yours?

Not in anyone's interest to waste time.

We have scheduled to publish an online version of the old trac so you can find a copy of your previous tickets and add them to the new tracker. I'll keep you posted when it's available.

Julien.

Bonjour,

Correction :

  • Microsoft Outlook 2003
  • Microsoft Outlook 2007
  • Microsoft Outlook 2010

Julien.

any news about overall integration of SOGo+Funambol with Zentyal and OpenChange?
Will it be full integrated in Zentyal 3.4? Is there known relese date?

SOGo Funambol connector is not scheduled to be integrated in Zentyal. First of all, it requires a java virtual machine to be deployed, secondly it only works with old blackberry phones and has - as far as I know - several limitations. Therefore this deployment would be an overkill with regards to the vast majority of our users and there are imho better candidates to mobile connectivity.

With regards to 3.4 roadmap and release date: http://www.zentyal.org/roadmap/zentyal-3-4-roadmap/

Or Is there someone able to post functional "HowTo setup and configuration" of overall solution Zentyal + Mail server module (postfix+devcot+fetchmail) + OpenChange + SOGo + Funambol?
Is better to use Zentyal distro or ubuntu+Zentyal package?

You can deploy a Zentyal 3.3 with OpenChange/SOGo and follow Funambol connector deployment using SOGo documentation.

What happens with all the other tickets? Because they are less documented doesn't mean the problems aren't real.

You are missing the point.

No matter whether the reported issue is real or not. If it is not documented properly, we won't be able to reproduce it. The ticket will therefore end being tagged with "worksforme", "invalid" or "rejected" status. This is not worth the effort.

We have chosen a saner and more pragmatic approach which implies that any tickets that gets forgotten, omitted or discarded will naturally ends in the new bug tracker with more accurate information. We will then be able to handle the ticket quicker and this responsiveness will be beneficial to everybody.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: OpenChange firewall ports
« on: February 04, 2014, 12:42:19 am »
Good evening,

OpenChange is registered as an endpoint server for Samba4. When an RPC client like Outlook connects to Samba, it first queries the endpoint mapper to know where the service is located, then initiates a connection on the temporary port where the service is bind.

You therefore need to open:
  • 135/tcp (endpoint mapper)
  • 1024/tcp or similar* (where openchange mapiproxy endpoint is bind)

* Samba4 sequentially assigns the tcp port depending on the port availability and order of the endpoint in the list.

If you intend to open these ports directly over the internet, I would strongly discourage you and instead advise to setup a VPN instead.

FYI, Zentyal 3.4 will be provided with Outlook Anywhere and your clients should therefore only have to open 80/tcp and 443/tcp.

Br,
Julien.
