ebox use distro called ubuntu 8.04 LTS

ebox makes packages so that you can build email, http proxy, dhcp, etc in a webgui interface

you install a module and enable it from the modules and you run it :)

hope it clears your doubt

Not only these ports but all that appear on the Mail System service for POP3 SSL and IMAP4 SSL.

ah i missed out these sorry.

POP3 - port 110. IMAP - port 143. SMTP - port 25. HTTP - port 80. Secure SMTP (SSMTP) - port 465. Secure IMAP (IMAP4-SSL) - port 585. IMAP4 over SSL (IMAPS)

These you will be fowarding and then your email communication would be processed and also remember to set reverse DNS.

Thank You  :)

I have a potential customer who want to migrate his existing hosted mail service and web to eBox. I know this has been asked quite a couple of time and I have gone through eBox documentation but I found that it is not comprehensive enough. I have some question to check before I propose any viable solution to them using eBox.

1) Supposing the customer already has a public domain for eg, www.abc.com and he wants to host the mail server in his office, he will need to apply for a static IP, mx record for his mail server and public dns record for his mail server right?  yes right

2) Where do we configure the public dns ip and mx record ip mapping? Is it under "network", "dns" or "dns" throught DNS and add the hostname example mail and private ip example 192.168.1.100 = Your Email Server which is your ebox server

3) With the above all configured, does that means we need to configure the mail menu and all should be working as a mail server? just you need to install mail modules and then do the steps above.

4) What kind of backup is recommended for email for eBox? ebox has a backup module where you can have it rsync, ftp or whatever you wish the module name is ebackup

Addtional note:

you have to port forward ports 25, 110, 143

Hello Cheesyking

i am happy to announce that i have done it.

also i want to tell you all what was it .

Go to Ebox DNS > add a domain and in hostname just put the name example mail / backup / ftp /www with public ip and if you host website or email in your company then put private ip and rest public if you host with namecheap.com for example.

good luck

thank you very much cheesyking and you have made my day

i was struggling for past 2 days and i knew someone from ebox support member will help me and 5 star for you :)

have a great day

Best Regards,
