Installation and Upgrades / Re: Vhost Help
« on: February 28, 2014, 09:33:00 pm »
Nearly there, I did the following:

from gui:
1. enabled per user public_htm
2. created the vhost and domain in dns

ftp client:
1. created public_html folder
2. uploaded files

from terminal:
1. sudo apt-get install vim-nox (because I like vim)
2. vi /etc/apache2/sites-available/usr-ebox-<domain>/site
3. press I and added: documentRoot /home/<user>/public_html/
4. and saved file: :x
5. chmod 777 -R /home/<user>
6. chmod 777 -R /home/<user>/public_html

It now works via http://servername/~user and http://domain
So looks like it was the permissions of the user folder.
I am hoping someone can tell me what to set it at to make it as secure as possible.

Thanks again everyone for all you help so far.

Thanks for your help, i did the symlink and it sort of works, i now get

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

i am guessing its a folder permission issue i have tried
chmod 755 -R /srv/www/hostname
also did same command to the folder in the home folder and its not worked
thanks again.

thanks for your reply no home was just a name that came into my head at the time and was used as a example,
yes it works in the way you said and would like to type www.bob.com (as a example) and it to go to http://your_zentyal_server/bob
Best thing I can think of doing this would be changing the document root for that vhost, but don't know how to on zentyal without it overwriting it.
Thanks again.

Installation and Upgrades / Vhost Help
« on: February 27, 2014, 11:22:26 am »
Hello all, I am hoping someone can help me.
I would like to create some virtual hosts to go to some users home folder using the per user public html option.

e.g. www.bob.com to load user bob html website from his folder.

here's what I have done so far, I have enabled the per user option and created the virtual hosts in the gui.

I have looked from the guide and it says: it is possible to apply a customised Apache configuration to each Virtual host by adding a file to the /etc/apache2/sites-available/user-ebox-<domain>/ directory.

so from what I can see I need to create a file called home, but it doesn't say what extension to use so I am guessing .conf, if that's the case home.conf goes into /etc/apache2/sites-available/user-ebox-www.bob.com/.

once I do that what would I put in the config file.
thanks all.

Installation and Upgrades / ftp ssl connection error
« on: January 20, 2014, 08:57:06 pm »
hi all, hoping someone can help me, i am running the newest version of zentyal 3.3.2 and i have enabled ftp server and changed ssl too allow ssl, i have enabled port 20 and 21 as i have seen in the services firewall rule on the router and forwarded to my zentyal server.

i am trying to connect to my zentyal server over the internet using a ftp client, i can connect fine via normal ftp, but as soon as i try and connect via ssl using port 21 i get: ERR Couldn't connect to "SERVER IP": SSL is not available on this server.
ERR Some errors were detected when testing the FTP settings.

i have looked on the zentyal documents but they are not much help, doesent explain what ports are needed (if any differnet from 21) when using ssl or any client settings needed to conect via ssl, so really hoping someone can help, unless its a bug?

new update:

If i change the Mail address in a user on the mange user page to use the @domain.lan (local domain) instead of @domain.com
the openchange tab comes back and i can now setup and connect via outlook (so doesent look like it was a dns issue)
i can also login to webmail using user@domain.lan, so look like the bug i reported a while ago still there and was causing me to not be able to connect if a user was setup to use the @domain.com on on outlook or webmail, so changing it solves nearly all my webmail and outlook connection issue, but when i start outlook i now get this message: cannot open outlook window the set of folders cannot be opened, you must be connected to microsoft exchange with the current profile before you can synchronise your folders. The issue of outgoing emails only displaying @domain.lan instead of @domain.com is still there.
IF anyone knows a work around i would be very greatful, hope this gets fixed soon as i cant test or use openchange if my outgoing email is wrong and i cant even open outlook 2007. The strange thing is when i was running the 3.3 zentyal beta it was less buggy, only had the outgoing email issue. I am running it off a actual server not a virtual machine. Thanks, all.

new update:

had to format and build zentyal from scratch to be able to resetup openchange. If i change the Mail address in a user on the mange user page to use the @domain.lan (local domain) instead of @domain.com
the openchange tab comes back and i can now setup outlook (so doesent look like it was a dns issue)
i can also login to webmail using user@domain.lan, so look like the bug i reported a while ago still there and was causing me to not be able to connect if a user was setup to use the @domain.com on outlook or webmail, so changing it solves nearly all my webmail and outlook connection issue, but when i start outlook i now get this message: cannot open outlook window the set of folders cannot be opened, you must be connected to microsoft exchange with the current profile before you can synchronise your folders. Another update, i have realised it has changed it to cyber-server.cyberglide.lan for the exchange server address, which it wont connect to the server when its set as that (worked with server ip), which made me think of dns, so checked the dns settings and they seem to be fine, so desided to copy and paste the server name into a webbrowser to see if it loads anything and i get the it works, which makes me think it cant be the dns as using the server name it connects to the server?
but i am no expert in this sort of thing so hoping someone who is can spend a few mins to help.
