Installation and Upgrades / Re: I am stuck at updating zentyal
« on: December 20, 2019, 04:57:08 am »
:)

You have entered the "Dependency Hell". I have visited it some times when doing bulk "update all" and I had tons of outdated packages. The trick is to do the upgrade through webadmin in little package groups.

Zentyal webadmin upgrades the packages using some dpkg options in order to mantain the existent configurations (for instance), so, it isn't actually equivalent to run apt-get upgrade.

Run this command in order to check your APT health:

Code: [Select]
dpkg -l | grep -Ev '^(ii|rc)'

Read this in order to fix your system: https://omgfoss.com/how-to-fix-broken-packages-in-ubuntu-18-04-lts/ (be careful because this document shows some differents use cases)

Cheers!

Thanks! Works in Zentyal 6.0.1 -> 6.0.3

Directory and Authentication / Zentyal 6 samba error sharing
« on: February 01, 2019, 09:55:40 am »
I have a Zentyal v6 server with several shared folders, some of these folders contain many files, I have folders with more than 100GB, the problem is that when I modify the access permissions to them, the process via webgui goes down and does not finish applying the permissions correctly, they are in a "savings samba" state and then suddenly shows me the dashboard.

I bought the book of administrators v6 and it does not help at all!

The server is completely updated. I need help.

News and Announcements / Re: Zentyal 5.0 available!
« on: December 02, 2016, 02:13:53 am »
Hello,

Afther installation of zentyal release 5.0 from the iso installation cd the network connection is broken and can not be activated by adapting the file: /etc/network/interfaces or via the zentyal gui.
Install zentyal 5.0 in command mode has the same problem.

Best regards,
Ian

Yes, for mee too!
Some of maintenance will tell you whether the problem will be fixed and when to know whether to use 4.2 or another server solution?

That's my point. I would like to find a way to reproduce the issue in order to be sure that is gone from the installed kernel.
Waiting is not the correct option imo. It doesn't give You the assurance that the kernel is bug-free
E.g. mine run with .51 and .56 and had been well for days...more than a week (and then one started to crush...)

Honestly I'm still trying to figure how to reproduce it. Looks latched to some concurrency with samba's calls...but i'm not sure.

I'll update You all asa i've more infos...

L

My servers are production can not come and change the kernel, leave you with these versions and hope for the best lol.

I will report any errors here in the forum.

13
Nice...so 58 looks stable...

But waiting for the issue to come...isn't there a way to force the issue?

L

Wait to see if one of my servers fails in version .58 or .56 and you commented how it goes fails, I think it is best to wait at least a week.

But the truth is not as forcing or reproduce the error in order to deliver a more concrete report.

I will report this way. Regards!

pcready.cl - does you have virtualized servers? Mainly have her problems when Zentyal is running in VPS - at least my server is virtualized.

They are all dedicated servers.

But I have them running Windows virtual machines with VirtualBox 5.0.16.

The failure is random, at least .58 are the server kernel and has had no problems.

Instead the other server with .56 kernel has never presented me problems.

The truth is not like nor reproduce the problem that is caused, both servers are in production.

.56 Kernel which has no active users samba, only used as Firewall, perhaps why it has not failed.

The server currently has the .58 kernel before the kernel had .56 and had active users in samba, about 15 concurrent users. And he had problems once a week, once twice a day.

Since the upgrade to version .58 I have not had more problems, so I think the .56 kernel without users samba does not fail, but when you already have access samba presents problems.

If the kernel fails .58 it will report immediately, greetings!
