I had det same issue when i rebooted my Zentyal 3.0 server after i joined the domain with a test 3.2 Zentyal server. I just rebooted the PDC again,(Zentyal 3.0) and then all worked without any "Connection refused" errors.. dunno why.. Makes one wonder if Zentyal are production ready(both 3.0 and 3.2)  :o

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Zentyal server is replacement for MS SBS ?
« on: September 27, 2013, 01:11:01 pm »
Hi everyone,

good and interesting thread. FYI, at our Summit (http://summit.zentyal.com/), in just one week, we are going to publish the first technology preview of Zentyal OpenChange. This is a new module, that will be published in the new alpha version for the community edition, and which implements a perfect native replacement of Microsoft Exchange. MS Outlook users cannot make the difference between MS Exchange and Zentyal OpenChange. Zentyal integrates Samba4, so it is also natively compatible with Active Directory. With this addition, Zentyal becomes a complete and native replacement for Windows Small Business Server (which is now discontinued).

We will continue offering Zarafa for those customers who prefer that solution, but OpenChange is the best alternative for customers willing to migrate away from MS Exchange, as there is no change for their users and the migration from MS Exchange is just 3-clicks away.

Cheers,

Great news!

File sharing and users & groups.

Why not just use an GPO for mapping drives?

Use RSAT : http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=7887 and then manage the GPO, just like if you would do it in Windows Server.

5
I got it working. I had to disable the modules on the new installed Zentyal 3.2 server and also delete the modules, and then reinstall it, then it worked.

6
I just backup to a partiton on the local Zentyal server and then make a rsync cronjob to sync the folder to a remote server.

I have the same problem. Using the option under File sharing module.

Installation and Upgrades / Print/CUPS problem
« on: September 09, 2013, 08:25:01 pm »
Hi,

I am currently testing Zentyal 3.0(3.0.26) and hopefully base my future business on being a Zentyal partner.
Unfortunately there are some hiccups i don't like. This is one of them. Instead of just making a wall of text, i will try and explain my problem one module a time.

Just to clarify my setup. Zentyal act as a gateway(firewall, proxy) PDC(user, groups, file, dns, dhcp, vpn, printer sharing, antivirus) Communication (mail, mail filter, webmail)
I am using the proxy as a explicit proxy and i always login to the domain.

I got 2 users DNG and JNG. DNG are member of Domain admins, JNG are not.

Anyways to the problem regarding print/cups

Printer added, group Domain admins added to ACL.

I have encountered 3 problems so far.

1. I have added the printer in the directory in the Computers OU, to enable users to easy find the printer, but when the click next, it says that it cant connect to the printer. (This is done as DNG user) i end up with deleting the printer in the directory.
2. When adding the printer via. \\zentyal\hpprinter it ask for drivers although CUPS have the driver, and i am able to print a test page form CUPS without problems. Work around are to use a local driver on each client computer, this works. Is this expected behavior ? I would like to be able to make GPO that maps the printer for each user, without them having to worrying about drivers or even installing it.
3. The ACL do not work, i only allow Domain admins to print but the user JNG can print without any problems?

I have brought the Zentyal manual but its at very little help.

I hope someone can help me and maybe point me in the right direction, i am aiming to complete the certification, but i would really like it to work properly before i even give the cert a try.

Tbh, HA are one of the things i would really like Zentyal took more serious. The all-in-one box concept are fine, but even small/medium business are taking HA more and more serious because more and more businesses rely on solid it-infrastructure.

Unfortunately i am not going to attend this year Zentyal summit, but i hope Zentyal staff have HA in the mind when they go forward from here. Imo the features of Zentyal are fine by now. Instead of trying to implement new features they should try and polish and really make each module work like a charm. IPS feature is nice but more important is solid GPO support and solid migration tools for Windows to Zentyal imo.

A good example of a features that imo should not have been implemented "yet" - are the VoIP module. Imo it lags core features before its at any use for business. There are far better alternatives which almost out-of-the box can implement features such as IVR, Dial plan and so on.

There are only two things i would really like Zentyal to implement, that's Opsi (www.opsi.org) and OpenChange(so we can get rid of Zarafa, and go 100% Opensource)

I can't understand why S.M.A.R.T monitoring isn't integrated into Zentyal yet, but thanks for your posts :)

Have much disk space is left?

Correct me if i am wrong. I think you should be able to set password policies with an GPO. Just edit with RSAT for win 7.
