Title: ActiveSync client not synchronize contacts and calendar
Post by: mig on October 04, 2012, 09:23:36 am
Hi,

Active-sync synchronization for emails working with no problem.
However, synchronization of contacts and calendar fails.

Zentyal 3.0 updated to latest version.

Only error which I can found is in apache sll_access.log

Try to install d-push package from here and let me know if it works: https://launchpad.net/~bencer/+archive/zarafa.
Title: d-push (formerly z-push) syncs mail but not contacts or calendars
Post by: someguyincali on October 07, 2012, 11:33:49 pm
I have a fresh Zentyal 3.0 server set up with communications and groupware installed.
My router has port 80 and 443 open to the outside forwarding to Zentyal.
I also have mail ports for pop, smtp and imap open.

I have successfully been able to send and receive mail through Zarafa Web Access with an external mail account.
I have succefully synced my Android and iPad over the d-push with ActiveSync ssettings.  The iPad is sync'd over wifi with the server being a local lan address.

The android is sync'd over 4G wireless.

Mail works perfectly.  However, contacts and calendars do not sync at all.  The calendar does not show up in either device either.

I followed instruction here: http://forum.zentyal.org/index.php?topic=11241.0
These instructions do not work.  It breaks the server.  I have tried it with fresh installs three times now.  I paid close attention to the chown and chmods as well.

Also, port 443 defaults to the Zentyal Admin and interferes with the SSL ActiveSync.  I cannot find any posts anywhere that address these issues.

Why does a Fresh Out of the box Zentyal 3.0n install not work as intended?

I tried this and it completely broke mail sync as well.

Yeah, I tried this as well.  No luck.  So far I have been through 5 fresh installs and tried the various suggestions found on the net.  I really wish a feature/functionality like this would work out of the box.

Does anyone know if calendar and contacts are done over SSL?

Its supposed to run on 80 or 443 but to be honest I don't know what port zentyal has it running on.
I don't have zarafa up and running at the moment so can't check.

Anyone with zarafa running which port is the zentyal implementation?

An old one but until someone says otherwise.

Depends on your configuration

I think, that by default is running only on 80.
443 is occupied by administration.

I have mine running on 443 and it syncs calendars and contacts over SSL.  I have several android phones and they all work fine.... actually I even have it going through a reverse proxy first.

You have to make sure your port 443 works first (you have to change your zentyal administration port to something else and then activate SSL under the web-server module)  Once SSL is working and you can see the standard Apache it works screen when visiting the site your HTTPS, you should be able to setup active sync by following the directions provided.

Test if the page works by visiting https://your.domain/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync through a regular browser.  See if it even comes up.... if you are successful I believe you see an error that says something along the lines this is for mobile devices only or your browser does not support this connection.  Either way you will know that it is working.... at that point you just have to setup active sync on the phone properly.

I have switch the Admin port on my server and activated SSL on the web server port 443.
I can connect via a browser and am prompted for login credentials.
I can sync the iPad and Android over SSL but still no calendars or contacts.

Interesting this is, when I sync the iPad the option to add an event in the iPad calendar disappears completely.  So the iPad "knows" that the Zentyal calendar is there but it's almost as if it's not allowed to create a new calendar or the functionality isn't present.  Could it be that Zentyal/Zarafa is not communicating with z/d-push properly therefore no backend support to make calendar and contacts work?

Furthermore, the calendar is not even listed in available calendars on the android device.

Just wondered the other gateways such as ical, imap... have you tried those just out of interest.

Also when you try and connect is there anything in the logs?

vshaulsk is your 2.2 or 3.0?

Mine is Zentyal 2.2; I do have zpush upgraded to 2.2 and I do run webapp front end.  I have a test zentyal 3.0 and I will try it when I have some time.

The log shows activity but no errors.  Here's a sample.  It's all the same stuff.

See what vshaulsk says I haven't got zarafa running at the moment as I switch to vmplayer and eventually I will work out the network bridging.

If your stuck I will get my phone on the job tommorow

I setup a separate account for CalDAV calendar.  This works.
Still working on contacts...

I tried this morning to connect my droid phone to zarafa active sync on my zentyal 3.0 test server.  However it would not sync at all.  It just told me that authentication failed......

Not sure what is going on....  will probably not have time to dig into it for while.

Am having similar problems with ActiveSync after moving my set up to Zentyal 3.

Upon setting up Activesync on my iphone, Im finding that mail is syncing alright - although I'm finding that it doesnt 'always' push new messages - or at least not straight away.

Cannot get the Calendar to play at all.  Occasionally it will appear in my phone's calendars list, but usually disappears after a minute or so and straight away if I try to add an appointment. Doesnt ever download any of my zarafa calendars existing appointments though.

Think the only thing is to put a bug in trac as that is four of us now with identical faults.

Just for the record, d-push 2.0.4 is now on Zentyal 3.0 repositories, if anybody is having issues, check opening https://your.domain/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync in a browser.
