Bonjour,

Je rencontre un problème concernant le backup "incremental" quotidien réalisé par ebox...

Voici le message d'erreur:

Hi dera zentyal users,

I need your expertise to resolve a problem during daily incremental backup with ebox.

This is typical log i obtained:

Merci de ta réponse,

Comme tu as pu le constater le poste de Trym date et je l'ai fait remonter en espérant que cela interpelle quelqu'un.
J'espère que ces deux posts sur les deux forums français et international feront briller quelques éclairs dans les cellules grises de nos collègues administrateurs de réseaux et que de bonnes solutions simples et efficaces vont apparaitre.

Bonjour a tous,

Je sais que de nombreuses fois la question a été posée sur les forums de Zentyal dans différentes langues mais je ne suis toujours pas satisfait des réponses et surtout je n'arrive toujours pas à restaurer un système à l'identique sur une machine virtuelle.

Es ce que parmis vous il y aurait des personnes qui ont réussi en utilisant les procédures décrites dans les "how to recover from disaster" à récupérer leur système Zentyal avec:
- les même paramètres de configuration
- les utilisateurs et groupes
- les partages
- les dossiers de partage avec les droits unix correctes
- accéder au serveur avec une machine ayant existé sur l'ancien réseau sans rien faire si ce n'est la connecter au nouveau serveur ?

Si oui je serais ravie de lire un tutoriel pour les nuls car j'avoue avoir du mal.

This Topic is of particular concern for me as I have been asked to perform the same type of task.
Before to read this topic I have tried disaster procedure recommended but failed to restore an identical system on a new machine (real or virtual).
Furthermore duplicity did not restore user rights and permissions even after I have restored passwd and group files.

Did someone found the perfect procedure to restore a system backup with duplicity ?

Hi,

Today checking the logs on my zentyal server I have noticed series of "Server connection terminated" every 1-2min in the VPN journal.
They are all coming from the client trying to connect to the cloud server.
To check the connection from the cloud web page, I've tried to log onto zentyal.cloud but after entering id and passwd my browser is still waiting for the cloud server to log me in.
Is it any issue at the moment with the cloud.zentyal.com server ?

Hi, as a ebox beginner i need some help with my ebox server 1.4
Server was working fine until recently when update or lighting or both made my server crashing following electric breakdown.
Since i can not mount new user profile on xp or windows7 clients, profiles not previously stored won't roam and some profile will not get save on the server.
When i try to restaure from an old backup ebox complain about missing parameters :(
Old settings restaured did not solved the problem
I don't feel i can install everything again. So please any help advises... Are welcome

I just need to know which stub file need to me modified or other ebox file.

I had a look in the samba mas files without success :(
I have modified the LDAP mas file setting the home directory mask to 755 without success.

I can manually change for each existing user the linux rights but now I would like when a new user been created by ebox the home/user directory been set as 755 and not 700.

ANy help is welcome

Hi there,

I need some help, I am trying to use a XP client as a backup server for my ebox 1.4 server.
I have given PDC admin rights to my backup XP client
I can access most of the shares managed by the ebox but..
I can not manage the users directory.
In fact I need to know where are the settings used by ebox when creation of a new user directory to change the status from 700 to 755 so that my pdc admin could have acces to the shares and backup them.

However if my way to try to have access to these share is wrong please give me another way. I thought about having the XP client added to the linux admin group but I don't know how to do it :(

any help is welcome as I need to setup the back up rapidly.

Hi there,

I have installed last summer a ebox server that works great for my little small biotech.
I have just realised you have built a new release and I would like to migrate my ebox to the new zentyal server.

But... as I am not a specialist (IT is not really my field) I wonder if I will be able to do it without loosing any precious data...
Will it be possible to have a Tutorial to migrate ebox 1.4 to Zentyal...

Something like "ebox migration for dummies"
Where all necessary steps will be clearly described to backup data, backup modified stubs files (*.mas) that may have been customised during the first install (even to one we have forgotten they have been customised...)...

I must confess I have spent quite a lot of time to setup the server the first time and I am afraid that I may loose precious conf files and important data or packages already installed like webmin, squid report...and other stuff that I even don't remember I have installed it :)

In fact it was a problem of logrotate setting for Squid.
I have changed it to weekly and now it is working fine.

Hi there,

I have installed the last eBox 1.4 available recently. I have set up a transparent proxy, webmin and SARG 2.5.2

1) In Webmin I can setup regular squid-reports or make instant squid-reports which are stored in my www/squid-reports directory but never in daily, weekly or monthly folder (that are not created anyway); I thought it could be a webmin issue...

2) I had stop using webmin scheduler for reports and update crontab -e with the following code:

00 08-18/1 * * * sarg-reports today
00 00 * * * sarg-reports daily
00 01 * * 1 sarg-reports weekly
30 02 1 * * sarg-reports monthly
If I try to start sarg like this: #sarg -x
There is generation of a squid-reports with a correct index file in www/squid-reports folder
If I try #etc/cron/cron.daily
Sarg return an error message like: sarg can not find log file
resulting in no report.!!

I don't know where to look so fix this issue. Any help is welcome.!

I have resolved my problem with ebox openVPN.
I have unquoted the line in the template to push all traffic through the VPN.

Now everything is working fine.

Hi everyone,

I have two questions:

1) does any of you has managed to install openVPN-AS on an ebox server ?
because as the autoinstall of this package fail to find necessary files for its installation and resume the install. Openvpn-AS for the moment as no plan to support ebox server :( but may ebox server as secret plan to support openvpn-as as a module ? or to improve its openvpn ?

Anyway that lead to my second question

2) Failing to install openvpn-AS I've tried to use openvpn from ebox.
The client can connect the openvpn subnet but I can not manage to connect to samba share areas. I have set up samba share network to be advertised but I still can not find the areas from the openVPN client.
Any hints, suggestions to help a newbie with this matter ?
