Directory and Authentication / Clients dont see the Zentyal Server in "network neighborhood", but he is there
« Last post by ATT1 on October 15, 2024, 02:53:49 pm »Hello,
I have a Zentyal 7.0 server. Samba, Domain and user auth work fine. However the Win7,8,10 clients cannot see the Zentyal server and his name ("srv01") under the "network neighborhood". He seems to be invisible. However, typing in "\\srv01" in the file explorer neatly reveals all neccessary shares, etc.
What do I have to do so the Windows clients can see the server in "network neighborhood" ?

Email and Groupware / Re: SOGo logins successfully and goes back to the login screen
« Last post by aehimself on October 13, 2024, 12:05:34 pm »Fyi, I raised a GitHub issue about this.
In the mean time let me ask - what browser did you use when you encountered the endless login loop? On the same PC, Firefox failed to log in while Chromium was successful. Firefox and Chrome were able to log in from a handheld device.
I tried to empty SOGo sessions with sudo -u sogo /usr/sbin/sogo-tool expire-sessions 1 but the login loop remained.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: NIC assignment changes after each reboot
« Last post by Siroco on October 08, 2024, 01:48:46 pm »Hi,
This issue is often a combination of hardware and Linux behavior, rather than a specific flaw in the Zentyal installation. Implementing persistent udev rules is often the most effective solution to ensure that your NICs maintain consistent naming across reboots.
Take a look at the article below because it may help you.

Installation and Upgrades / NIC assignment changes after each reboot
« Last post by altiport on October 07, 2024, 08:46:34 pm »Hello,
I'm running Zentyal 7.0 on an HP Microserver Gen7.
After a clean installation of 7.0, every time I reboot the server, the names of the NICs swap (i.e. Eth0 becomes Eth1, Eth1 becomes Eth2 and Eth2 becomes Eth0, but not always in that order). The implication is that I need to rearrange the interface and gateways settings and set up DHCP from the beginning.
Is that an issue related to my hardware or to the Zentyal installation?
Thanks

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Slow boot / shutdown after upgrading 7.1 to 8.0.5
« Last post by Siroco on October 07, 2024, 01:14:11 pm »Hi,
Could you give some more information, for example:
- What modules you have installed and enabled?
- How many network interfaces do you have?
- How are they configured?
- Any other data you think may be useful, especially related to the network.
Regards.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Error When Joining Zentyal 6.0 Server To Zentyal 5.1 Domain
« Last post by Siroco on October 07, 2024, 12:21:08 pm »Hi,
Have you tried to perform the union following the official documentation? Here are some important checks to follow before attempting the join.
https://doc.zentyal.org/en/how-to-adc.html
To analyze where the problem may be, you can review the following logs, especially during the merge process:
- /var/log/syslog
- /var/log/zentyal/zentyal.log
- /var/log/samba/samba.log
Regards

Installation and Upgrades / Slow boot / shutdown after upgrading 7.1 to 8.0.5
« Last post by victorsts on October 06, 2024, 09:36:27 pm »Hello,
I've updated a test DC from 7.1.4 to 8.0.5. It takes around 2 minutes to either boot or shutdown the OS. The console shows that it is waiting both for "Zentyal start/stop task" and "Wait for network to be configured". This VM has just one interface with static IP. The netplan file that Zentyal generates looks good. Once boot is done, seems like everything works ok.
What may be causing this delay on boot / shutdown?

« Last post by Siroco on October 04, 2024, 11:26:42 am »Hi,
You can check those logs for errors and post those lines on the forum, or also, if the system crashes, post the last lines of the logs to see what it was doing at that time.
Regards.
