Directory and Authentication / GPO security filtering is not working

This is a freshly installed zentyal server installed from the iso provided by the zentyal website yestoday.

I plan on using this as a PDC server and nothing more.

I have my domain up and running.
I have 3 PC connected to it fine.

Now im trying to deploy my GPO to the clients.

I have 4 network drive GPO seperated in 4 GPOs.
network drive 1 2 3 and 4
I have a group in AD called network drive 1 2 3 and 4.
In each GPO for the network drive I have a security filter for the corrosponding group in AD.

So GPO "network drive 1" has a security filtering for AD group "network drive 1"
and so i plan to make the users that need "network drive 1" member of group "network drive 1".

My problem is that zentyal is not all registering that i put this security filter on the GPO.
Zentyal sees fine all the groups and users in the web interface.

by the way im setting all this up using RSAT tools from microsoft.

If i put "Authenticated users" back on the security filtering it works fine. As soon as i put a group on it doesn't work.

ALSO

I have made a OU harakiri aswell.

So i have:

dingit.lan
     DingIT
         Users
         Computers

and so on - I hope you get the point

but my GPO does not hit the client PC if they are in any of the OUs I have created. Like if i want the "network drive 1" GPO to be under dingit.lan/dingit/users/ it won't load on the clients. But if i put the GPO in the root under dingit.lan/ it works fine.

I could actually live with this if the security filtering was working since i would controll access to the GPO in that way. But since i need to run the GPO as authenticated users (first problem in this post) and also the GPO located in the root of the GPO tree all GPO would be assigned to ALL users and computers which is a BIG no go I hope you can see why..

I have no idea to proceed from here?!?!? can anyone help me? at least point me in the right direktion?

Both zentyal and ubuntu are fully updated.

Installation and Upgrades / problem getting addetional dc up and running

Hi all,

FANTASTIC PRODUCT..!! first of all

I have setup DC_A and DC_B

DC_A is the primary domain controller and DC_B i sec.

problem is I have been struggeling allot getting DC_B added to the domain as sec domain controller. Now i seem to have it working but the sync only happens from DC_A to DC_B not the other way around?

I have no firewall module enabled on any of them
They are both zentyal servers..

What can i be missing?

According to serveral youtube guides it should be fairly streight forward..

Installation and Upgrades / installing printers in CUPS/Zentyal

Hi all,

Does anyone have a guide or can tell me how to use Zentyal as a print server?

I have looked into CUPS but my printer is not on the knowen list

How do i install printers in CUPS/Zentyal that is not on the list? or am i going about this the wrong way?

Epson WP-4535 is the printer i have

Installation and Upgrades / openchange and openchange webmail doesn't work

Hi all,

I'm toying with the idea of using zentyal for not only SMB clients but also as a hosted exchange solution using openchange.

I'm in the processes of being certified and in this process i have allready setup one working openchange server..

but for some this second try fails on me.  Outlook can't connect on local IP and openchange webmail doesn't work...

what i have done different is this:

only added one interface
-I figured I would only need one interface since this is going to be used for hosted exchange but maybe that screws something up in the openchange installation if it is expecting two interface IE LAN/WAN?

when i install the communication package I set my domain as xxxx(internal domain) and when it asks for virtual domain I set it for yyyy(external email domain).
-is this wrong? does openchange need the first virtual domain to also be xxxx? or is it ok to start off by having a different email domain

by email domain i mean the domain for the real email address like john@zentyal.org and not maybe john@zentyal.lan

if none of my assumptions are right above I have no clue why it doesn't work this time.

Any help would be appriciated!

Installation and Upgrades / zentyal backup feature

Hi all,

First off.. Zentyal.. AWESOME product!!!

i was looking at the built in backup feature of zentyal..still treading the waters here...

if i do say a RSYNC backup to a nas.. and i need to restor someday... how would that procedure work? is it a image backup it does of the entire harddrive or just a file backup? do i need to some initial work before rolling on the backup?

im talking about the case of a disastor restor.. new hardware and everything
